Your Wish Is My Command

A night in the city [Optional Bias]

                                      *** KCON special***

“Well this is great.” You pouted and stomped your feet. “I didn’t even get to see them.”

“You at least got some good pictures.” Your friend tried to console you but even she knew that it wasn’t the same as seeing the boys in person.

“I’m so jealous. I should have been in there, getting my album signed by the members not all those other girls.” You said with frustration. You’d spent way too much money on the tickets for the KCON and all of it was going to go in a waste.

“You’ll see them at the concert.”

“Yeah but it’s not the same as seeing them in person.”

“Stop complaining,” your friend said, finally getting irritated by your sour face. “Now come on, get up. We should get ready for the concert.” She dragged you through the crowd. You walked, with a heavy heart. Before the KCON, you’d dreamt everyday of meeting the ________ boys. You’d stood in front of the mirror and practiced your smiling. You’d spent days rehearsing your Korean and Chinese. So much for all that now.

“Are you still thinking about it?” your friend nudged you out of your thoughts.

“Huh! Oh no,” you lied because you knew if you mentioned it one more time you were sure to be smacked.

The concert started soon after. Your face lit up as you saw the members walk on stage, all giving their brief introductions. They’d rehearsed them in English. That’s when you started spazzing. You knew that it couldn’t possibly go downhill from there.

“Oh Gosh, Oh Gosh, Oh my Goodness,” your friend squeezed your hand.

“I knowwwww!!,” you said while jumping and squeezing hers equally hard.

You knew you were going to lose your voice after the concert and that’s exactly what happened. You were half deaf and unable to communicate verbally.

“No regrets,” you mouthed the words to your friend.

“No regrets,” she replied giving you a thumbs up.

The concert was over. You turned around one last time to look at the empty stage, where your idols stood a few moments ago. That was it. Now all you had to do was wait for another year for them to come back.

*************************************************

“Wooo Woo Woo, Where are you going?” you asked your friend. She began walking on the opposite side.

“Home!” she replied stating the obvious.

“But I thought we were going downtown.”

“It’s too late. I’m tired,” she said meekly.

“Mmmm,” you groaned. You really did want to go downtown and see the lights. It’s not like you hadn’t seen them before. It was just that, that night was special. You wanted to make the most out of it.

“So are you coming?” she asked.

“Ah, you go on. I’ll stay around for a while.” You winked and began walking without waiting for her to respond. You knew, if you gave her a chance she was going to stop you. It was best if you left as soon as possible.

****************************************************

You sighed looking at the city lights. For some reason you felt lonely. There was this empty feeling inside of you. Looking at all the happy couples walking down the streets, reminded you of your own a few years back. You shrugged the thought out of your head and bought yourself an ice cream. Somebody suddenly bumped into you from behind just as you were about to lick it. All of it was on your face now.

“Oh .. Mianhe / [duì bù qǐ],” you heard him say.

“Look where you’re going,” you said angrily. You didn’t have a tissue to wipe your face with. Then suddenly a thought crossed your mind. The person didn’t apologize in English but in Hanguk/[Mandarin]. You looked up at him. Half of his face was covered with his hoodie and you couldn’t tell the features since both you and him were standing in the dark.

“Who are you?” you asked.

He shook his head and began walking.

“No wait,” you said running after him. For a second you thought it could be one of the idols wandering around on the streets. You’d heard many stories about it online. It didn’t hit you for even a second that it could just be a person from Korea/ [China] visiting the US.

You ran after him and pulled his sleeve, causing him to turn around.

“Oh Gosh,” you gasped, covering your mouth with your hands. You wanted to laugh and then cry but you couldn’t do either. It was just too unbelievable. ____________ was standing right before your eyes. He looked at you from up to down with a strange expression and tried to let go of his sleeve. He took out a crumbled tissue from his pocket and offered it to you. Had it been someone else, you would have thrown it back at their face but you couldn’t reject __________. He was just too special. You wiped your face quickly but he began walking.

“Wait..” you called after him. He stopped and turned around one more time. He seemed irritated.

“Where are you going?” you asked, sounding much more calm this time. The last thing you wanted to do was to freak him out. He obviously had no idea what you were saying. So once again he shook his head. You regretted not taking Korean/ [Chinese] in School.

“I don’t know,” he said after a while.

“Are you lost?” you asked.

He didn’t respond. That’s all the English he knew. You thought for a long time about what to do. He stood there and stared at you too. He seemed desperate. He did need help.

“Do you know what hotel you’re staying in?” you asked. He took a long time before responding. The name that he gave you did not sound familiar until you realized that he’d been saying it wrong. Nevertheless you now knew where he was staying. All you had to do was, to take him back there safely without getting spotted by anyone.

“I can take you there,” you said slowly, hoping he would understand.

“Ah ye..” he replied nodding his head.

You tried to seem as calm as possible but inside, your heart was racing and your legs were shaking. If you were alone you would most definitely fall to the ground and cry till someone came to pick you up.

“Let’s go..” you told him. He followed you obediently. The hotel was only two blocks away but you had other plans in mind. You were going to take the longer way. You wanted to show him around the city. The two of you squeezed through the crowd, small alleys, around big buildings and then finally reached an empty opening. You could see the sky. You wanted to stop there but before you could say something, you felt a hand on your shoulder.

“What?” you asked.

“Wait,” he said and walked towards the railing. The city lights looked beautiful from afar.

“Do you want something?” you asked.

He shook his head. He wanted to stay there for a while. What could be better than that? You stood beside him looking in the same direction he was. The light on the Ferris wheel at Disney stood out. He pointed towards it and then looked at you. You smiled back.

“Do you want to go there?” you asked. He shook his head once again. You sighed and looked up at stars. They looked even better than the lights. Everything seemed perfect. You wanted time to stand still so you could live that moment forever. There was nothing more you could ask for. __________ nudged you. His touch made your body tingle but before you could enjoy it, he pulled you to move on. You guys had stood there for a long time. It was time to leave.

Both you and him began walking once again through the buildings. You were hoping he wouldn’t realize that you purposely walked him in a circle, just to make the way longer. He turned around and looked at with questioning eyes. Your heart sank. He in fact had realized what you’d done. He seemed mad. You looked at him innocently. His expression softened and turned into a smile.

“Sorry,” you whispered. He chuckled and then scratched the back of his head. A twinge of pain ran through your heart. He was killing you with his dashing looks. You shook yourself out of your thoughts and began walking once again. A lot of street performers were out that night.

You stopped for one of them. He motioned you to walk but you refused.

“Pleaseeee!,” you insisted. He made a face and stood beside you as the two of you watched. You clapped your hands excitedly when one of the guys did a black flip and then a head stand. ________ rolled his eyes. He knew he could do better but that was no place he could show his talent. Somebody in the crowd would recognize him and that could mess things up. He held your hand and pulled you this time. You pouted and followed.

“We’re almost there,” you said giving a thumbs up. He smiled back at you. From then on every step seemed very difficult to take. Soon the two of you would have to depart ways and then he would forget about you. The rush that you’d felt moments before was fading away.

“Aaaaa,” he cried with excitement pulling your sleeve upon seeing the familiar building. He looked goofy but you still loved that. You forced a smile on your face to hide your disappointment. The managers and other members were standing outside with worry clearly visible on their faces. As soon as they saw _____________, the worry turned into angry glares. He knew the queue. He quickly ran up to them without even saying good bye. Your jaw dropped in surprise. You were more angry than shocked though. How could he just leave without saying anything but then again you shouldn’t have expected much out of him. He was an idol and you an ordinary fan. Why would he care about how you felt?

The members and managers kept yelling at him. He couldn’t even make eye contact. He finally gathered enough courage to look up but his eyes instead, fell on _________ [another member] standing far back. He was about to open his cone ice cream.

_____________ lifted his hand to stop the managers fro yelling and ran to the member in the corner. Without saying anything, __________ pulled the ice cream out of his hand and turned around looking for you. You were still standing in the corner watching him. He ran up to you and offered it to you.

A fit of laughter took you. You had no idea why you were laughing. Maybe it was, to cover up the tears that were forming. He bowed to say thank you and the next thing that happened, you couldn’t have imagined in your life. _________ leaned in and gave you a peck on the cheek. He didn’t wait for you to say anything and immediately ran back to the members. They all looked at you and waved. You smiled back, still in a state of complete shock.

You hadn’t exchanged a single word with _________ that night. You never found out why he’d left the hotel or where he was headed. You didn’t know if he was going to remember you or not. You didn’t need to know either.  All you knew was that you got a lot more than you’d ever asked for. If there was anything you could wish for, it was for that night to repeat over and over again.

_____________________________________________________

Okay so I ended up making it an OPTIONAL BIAS, rather than a [Tao and Yongukk] scenario.  For some parts I had difficulty so I put Korean/ Chinese considering the fact that some kpop idols are Chinese lol.

I tried not to make it cheesy but the whole idea of meeting your idol is a little too “unrealistic.” I tried my best with this so I really hope you guys like it.

*Phew*

Edit: This is the only Optional Bias I’ve ever written and will write. [Until I change my mind]
