“She’s coming, she’s coming,” Gongchan yelled waving his hands frantically.
“Aigoo,” Sandeul cried running towards the window.
“What are you…,” Baro said entering the room but as soon as he saw Sandeul running towards the window he knew exactly what was going on. “Oh my, is she here?” he cried in excitement too and lunged towards the two boys.
“Get out of my way,” he yelled, pushing Sandeul and Gongchan to the corner.
“Huh! What the..” Sandeul got back up and pushed Baro. The three boys slammed their faces on the window, each wanting to get as much space as possible.
“Why are you guys looking at her? I was the one who saw her first,” Sandeul whined.
“Does it matter? Girls dig me.. she will totally go out with me,” Baro replied, rolling his eyes.
“And you, why are you looking at her. You don’t even like her,” Sandeul hit Gongchan on the head.
“Aish, hyunggg,” Gongchan pouted and stepped away from the window.
Just then Jinyoung stepped into the room. Seeing the guys standing by the window, he knew exactly what was going on. Every day at five o clock Baro and Sandeul fought for that spot just so they could see you walk by. Sandeul was the first one who had spotted you out of the crowed of hundreds.
It was a normal day at practice but the boys were out of their minds. Sandeul casually walked up to the window to gaze at the crowd on the street. That’s when he saw a glimpse of you walking by. He didn’t take enough notice until a week later he saw you walk by again. You seemed to be very happy that day. It made him curious, being the nosy person he was. Your mysterious appearance made him want to know more about you. He soon discovered that you passed that way to go, where ever you went, every day.
Jinyoung quietly walked up to the window, signaling Gongchan to not say anything. He placed his hand on the boys’ head and banged them together.
“Aaaaaiiiiii,” both cried, rubbing their temple.
“What’d you do that for?” Sandeul asked, glaring at Jinyoung.
“You guys don’t act like idols at all. Look at yourselves.”
“What’s wrong with it?” Sandeul asked.
“You’re running after someone you don’t know anything about. What if she is different from what you imagine her to be like?”
“She isn’t,” he snapped back.
“Okay, then how about you go tell her how you feel about her. I’d like to see how she would react.”
“Whaaa.. aniyo,” he pouted, folding his arms.
“Okay then I’ll do it,” Baro said advancing towards the door.
“Aishhhhh,” Sandeul ran after him and pulled his sleeve. “She’s mine.”
“Not if I tell her I like her, first.”
“You wouldn’t do that,” Sandeul grind his teeth.
“Watch me,” Baro teased him.
“Barooo,” Jinyoung yelled, shooting one of his glares at him.
“Hyung..” Baro began.
“Stop it both of you. Look at yourselves. Girls should be running after you, not you running after them. Don’t spoil your image.”
“But I really like her,” Sandeul mumbled.
“I don’t want to hear anything about it. Let’s get back to practice.” Jinyoung announced. The room fell silent immediately. The boys obliged to the leader’s order and stood in straight line to start practicing again.

Sandeul couldn’t sleep. He shifted in bed many times in frustration. Finally, he decided to leave the room. Thoughts about you were revolving around his head. He didn’t care about Jinyoung said. He really liked you and he wanted you to know that.
“Can’t sleep,” Jinyoung whispered, coming out of the room.
“Ah hyung, go to sleep. I’ll be back in a minute.” Sandeul said. He turned around and fixed his at the clear sky.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing..” he replied.
“Is it still about her?”
“Aniyooo.. its not about her. I’m just thinking about our comeback.”
“Really Sandeul? You’ll lie to me about this?” Jinyoung raised his eyebrows.
“You wouldn’t approve of it anyways so what’s the point,” he said half heartedly and looked away.
“I would love to say encouraging words but I don’t think this will go anywhere. You’re thinking emotionally instead of logically,” Jinyoung said with a serious tone. He really did want to help Sandeul.
“I’ve felt this emotion because of her so obviously I’ll think about it emotionally. Is it wrong to like somebody? Just because I’m a guy I’m not allowed to express my feelings?”
“That’s not what I’m saying,” Jinyoung defended his stance. He thought for a moment about what to say. “What if she is already with someone else?” he proposed.
“Then.. I’ll leave her alone and move on.”
“Is it that easy for you to say?” he asked.
“Yes,” Sandeul said, contradicting the feelings in his heart. He’d grown attached to you. Even though he had never talked to you, there was something about you that attracted him. It frustrated him just as much because deep down they were killing him. He didn’t show it to the other members but it was a lot more serious.
“Okay, do whatever you think is right,” Jinyoung took a deep breath and patted Sandeul’s shoulder. “We will always support you.”
“Gomawo,” Sandeul replied with a forced smile.

Sandeul stood in the corner of the street waiting for you to walk by. His watch ticked five and his heart began racing. The thought of seeing you up close, made him nervous. Only a few seconds later, he saw your figure, making its way through the crowd. He lifted his hand, signaling the little boy to do what he was told.
“Nooooonnnnaaaaaaaa,” the young child cried running through the pool of people. “Nooonnaaaa,” he repeated once again. You turned around to see what was happening only to be surprised by a young figure standing close to you, holding an orange balloon in his hand.
“Are you looking for someone?” you asked, calming yourself. He nodded with his big beautiful eyes and a cheeky smile. He offered the balloon to you.
“Huh?” you pointed to yourself asking him if it was for you. He nodded his head once again.
“Awwww so cute,” you said running your fingers through his hair and patting his head. “Who gave this to you?”
The boy turned around and pointed to the corner of the street. Sandeul who’d been watching the whole episode, jumped back immediately.
“Who?” you asked, moving your head up and down to see.
“He was over there,” the child said, also looking confused.
“Who was it?” you asked. He shrugged his shoulders in response and before you could ask another question, he ran off.
“Waitttt,” you called after him but all to no avail. The child was long gone. You sighed and looked at the balloon. The thought of someone sending you a balloon, out of all the things in the world, tickled you. You scrutinized it for a good minute and just as you were about to walk, you saw a little note hanging near the end of the string. ‘Meet me at Han river at 9 o clock..’ – it read.
“Whaa,” you gasped, a little freaked out. ‘Who could it be? ‘You kept thinking to yourself. The last time you’d received something like that was … never. It flattered you but at the same time you were a little scared. Nevertheless, you decided to go see what was in store for you.
*****************************************************
Sandeul sat on the bench, turning around every 20 seconds to see if you were coming. It was a little chilly but he was far too occupied with other thoughts to even worry about his shaking legs. At the point he didn’t even know if it was because of nervousness or the wind.
“9:02, oh my God where is she??” he cried looking up at the sky. “You know what I should just give up and go. She won’t come. What was I thinking? WHAT WAS I THINKING?”
Passerby gave strange looks, watching him talk to himself. “Are you okay?” – a few asked but he ignored their concerns. His mind was only focused on you at the moment.
You walked, with your hands tucked in your pocket, through the park. You weren’t as nervous as you were earlier that day. In fact you were more curious. As you approached the Han river, you saw a nervous figure pacing back and forth near the bench. It amused you looking at him, talk to himself, occasionally smacking his forehead.
‘Could he be the guy?’ you thought to yourself. He seemed very playful, quite the opposite of you. You walked close to him, but instead of saying something, you decided to just stand there and wait for him to turn around.
“Aaigoo,” Sandeul sighed and turned around. “Huh,” he gasped, finding you standing right behind him.
“So you’re the balloon boy?” you asked cutely. Sandeul seemed to be tongue tied.
“Aaa, no.. I mean ye..,” he stuttered. You giggled and shyly looked away to help him overcome his condition.
“I’m sorry,” he finally uttered, scratching the back of his head.
“For what?” you asked, still not looking at him. Sandeul didn’t respond. Instead he breathed heavily to calm himself.
“For all of this,” he finally said. “I didn’t mean to freak you out but … I just wanted you to know that.. I mean I just want you to.. uhh.. I just..” he shook his head. You looked at him for a brief second and gave him a smile.
“You know what screw all of this,” he threw his hands in the air. “Would you like to go out with me sometime?”
“Whaa,” you gasped at the direct question.
“Ye,” he nodded. His expression hardened and he looked at you seriously. “I’m sorry if this didn’t come out right but I really would like to go out with you sometime. I want to ..”
“Know me?” you asked, finishing for him. He looked at you intently until a smile broke on his face. It was contagious. You were smiling too.
“So is that a yes?” he asked. All his nervousness was gone. He seemed much more still and relaxed.
“Ye,” you mumbled not being able to resist yourself. You had second thoughts instantly, but your heart pushed them away. If it was meant to be, it was going to happen. After all , you don’t find balloon boys very often ;)
