Your Wish Is My Command

A year and a day .. [CNU]

Requested by anbaachan

“Shinwoo ahh turn off the fan. I’m cold,” you whined under the covers. The faint sunlight escaped through the curtains and you tried every way possible to fight them back with your blanket. “Shinwoooooo!,” you cried again. “You know I’ve been sick for the past few days. Do you want me to get more sick?”

Still no response…

“Oh my.. can you not hear me?” you asked, throwing the covers off of you and turning around. There was no one in the room but you. Your eyes wandered from side to side and then followed the direction to the bathroom. The door was half open. He wasn’t in there either.

“Of course!,” you mumbled. Why were you even calling him when you knew he usually left before you woke up? You sighed and pulled the covers around you, almost hiding your face in them. You looked like an Inuit. Random thoughts crossed your mind. Just then you remembered something.

“Oh my …!,” you covered your mouth jumping out of bed. You ran around the room, shuffling and tossing everything, looking for your handbag.

“There it is,” you cried in excitement, finding it under your bed. You grabbed it immediately and pulled out the small crumbled up paper. It was your to-do list. Being the forgetful person you were, you couldn’t afford to lose stuff like that.

To do list

1.       Call the Insurance company

2.       Call Mom

3.       Return the dress

4.       ORGANIZE a special 1st anniversary with Shinwoo…’

Your eyes widened reading no. 4 on the list. How could you forget, forget the most important thing. That was all you thought about two weeks from then. You got caught up with a lot of stuff and you almost forgot about it. You still had time since it wasn’t until two days later.

“Calm down _________,” you told yourself, scrunching the list in your hands. A sudden wave of enthusiasm hit you and you jumped up. You were ready to plan the perfect day for him and you. Ignoring the pain in your back and your flu, you ran around the house, cleaning it from corner to corner.

****************************************************

You heard the front door open. A smile spread on your face. You couldn’t wait to tell Shinwoo about the plan for your anniversary. Heavy footsteps made their way into the room. Shinwoo stopped at the door and gave a quick glance to what you were doing.

“Hey,” he mumbled softly, proceeding to the bathroom.

“Come on! No back hugs?” you asked turning around with a mischievous smile but he was already in the bathroom. You went and stood by the bathroom door. As soon as he opened it, you jumped on his face.

“Hey so guess what day it is two days from now?” you asked excitedly.

“Monday..,” Shinwoo replied with a straight face.

“Aish,” you nudged him. “I know that too but it’s a special Monday.”

“Really? Since when did Mondays start becoming special?” he asked sitting on the bed. You followed and sat beside him.

“Oh come on, don’t pretend like you don’t remember,” you winked. The expression on his face didn’t change. You looked at him carefully for a long time but nothing. No reaction at all.

“You really don’t remember do you?” you asked, really disappointed. He shook his head apologetically.

“It’s our first anniversary…,” you trailed off so he could fill in.

“Ohhh,” Shinwoo smiled and put his arm around you. “It’s been a year already?”

“Aaa,” you elbowed him. “Yes it’s been a year and you don’t even remember that.”

“Mianhe,” he said and gave you a quick peck on the temple.

“So now will you help me plan something big for the day?” you asked.

“Something big?,” he asked widening his eyes.

“Ye,” you nodded innocently.

“Why?”

“Because … I just want too,” you said after a short pause.

“Oh come on _________. That’s so cliché.”

“No but I really want to do something special.”

“Okay, then lets watch a movie or something,” he said playing with your hair.

“Aniyooo,” you whined, releasing yourself from his half hug. You were starting to get a little irritated and your head hurt too. You hadn’t recovered from your flu yet.

“You know what. Don’t worry about it. I’ll figure something out.” You patted his chest and got up. Shinwoo settled in bed and fell asleep in less than a minute. Your anger started to diminish. He must have been really tired, you told yourself and decided to try again the next day.

*********************************************

Sunday mornings were nothing special for you. They started just like all the other days of the week. Shinwoo would leave early for his schedules even on the weekends. It bothered you but you had chosen to be with him so you had to bear all of that.

The rest of the day was spent on your tiny laptop, trying to look for good places to celebrate. Some were too expensive, others were too lame. Most were not his type and some were just not the right places for such an event.

The clock ticked 8 and the door clicked open. Shinwoo entered, took of his shoes and proceeded to the room.

“Shinwoo ahh, I have another idea,” you called after him. He stopped at the door and turned around to look at you.

“Oh I didn’t see you there,” he said.

“That’s why you need to start wearing your glasses again,” you laughed. “Anywayysss, so I spent the whole day searching for the right place and none of them seemed right.” You clapped your hands together. “So here’s the thing. How about we have a romantic dinner here.”

“Here?” he narrowed his eyebrows.

“Yeah, like in the apartment. Lets cook together and… and.. then do something special afterwards? Maybe like a walk or..”

“Ahhh _______, don’t you think you’re getting a little too carried away with this?” he threw a question at you before you could even finish.

“But it’ll be fun..,” you mumbled. You were a little scared, hearing the irritation in his voice.

“Okay do whatever you feel like,” he forced a smile on his face.

“You know a little enthusiasm would be nice to see,” you said in a barely audible voice but soon regretted it. You knew that either there was going to be no reaction or if there was going to be one, it wouldn’t be good.

“I am excited,” he said, turning around.

“Doesn’t seem like it,” you said.

“I am,” he smiled faintly and then disappeared into the room. You sighed and closed the laptop in frustration. You really hoped the next day wouldn’t be like all the other days. It would be different and special and he would actually put effort into it.

**************************************************

The fan was turned on once again that morning. You pulled the covers tightly around you, falling back into your dreamland. Then you suddenly realized that it was the big day. You threw the covers off of you and turned around. Shinwoo was there that day. He hadn’t left. He looked peaceful while sleeping but that day wasn’t one of those that you’d let him sleep. You got closer to his ear and cried, “Happy Anniversary.”

“Woahhh,” Shinwoo woke up in surprise. “Oh my God what time is it?”

“Umm 9 o clock I think,” you said, giving him a confused look.

“Oh gosh I’m late,” he jumped out of bed.

“But we have so many things to do. Where are you going?” you questioned.

“I have a small schedule today but I’ll be back soon,” he said, looking around for cloths.

“How soon?” you asked.

“Soon,” he said putting on a shirt and pulling up his pants. After coming out of the bathroom he gave you a quick peck before hurrying out the door.

You were upset. Really, really upset but you let it slip. He would come home soon and things could go as planned. Not losing hope, you got out of bed to get started. There was absolutely no time to waist.

**********************************************

Hours passed away in a breeze. You walked out of the kitchen tiredly to look at the clock.

“Oh my goodness,” you gasped in surprise. “It’s 4  o clock already.” You called Shinwoo but he didn’t pick up his phone. It wasn’t like him. He usually picked it up. You were getting anxious and annoyed. It was a mixture of two very different feelings. You were starting to get mad too. You’d had spent almost half the day setting up everything by yourself. That is not what it was supposed to be like.

You called him repeatedly. He picked it up once but then hung up immediately. After that, he turned it off so you wouldn’t disturb him.

Another hour passed away…

The door finally clicked open. You lunged towards it, with anger in your eyes.

“Where were you?” you yelled.

“I had work,” he mumbled, not intimidated at all by your aggressive behavior.

“And you couldn’t call me?” you asked.

“I said I had work,” he repeated calmly once again.

“You know what I’m done with this,” you flung your hands in frustration.

“Oh come on, we can do something now,” he said.

“Something now? When half of the day has passed. You knew I’d been planning on this for the longest time and this is what you do? You couldn’t spare one day just one day for me? I’m tired of this Shinwoo. I’m just really tired.”

“Tired of what?”

“Tired of you never making an effort.”

“What?” he scoffed.

“Yes. Don’t you see it Shinwoo? I try so hard every day to keep this relationship going and you never..”

“Waaaa waa waiittt.  This relationship?? What are you trying to say?”

“See this is what I’m talking about. Are you really that oblivious to everything?” you pushed him slightly. You weren’t this mad before he came but the way he was reacting was making you more mad. You didn’t want to be since you wanted to celebrate your anniversary but things were getting out of control. “Just forget it,” you said turning around to calm yourself.

“No tell me what you mean?” he pulled you around. You looked at his clueless face for a good minute. You felt like all that you did, and had been doing wasn’t worth it anymore. He was never going to appreciate any of it. He was never going to see how much cared about him, how much you loved him. Whatever decision you made that night was only going to hurt you, not him.

“You know what Shinwoo, let’s just forget about all of this. Let’s forget that we were ever even together.”

“What?” he snapped. You freed yourself from his loose grip and walked towards the room. He followed close behind.

“So just because I didn’t come home on time you’re going to break up with me? Is that how immature you are.”

His words were burning holes in your heart. You turned around to reveal the tears in your eyes but it wasn’t like it would matter to him.

“_____________, answer me,” he demanded. You didn’t respond, but instead began stuffing your bag with cloths.

“_________,” he called again as you walked out the room. “What is going on? I don’t understand.” You stopped, turned around and whispered, “That’s the problem.” After that you didn’t wait a second and quickly left. If you stayed any longer, your heart would turn weak and hold you back. You needed to do that. For yourself and him.

Shinwoo stood dumbfounded watching you leave. He wanted to stop you but for some reason he couldn’t. It was as if he didn’t have any motivation left. Had he stopped loving you? He questioned himself. The aroma of food, you’d prepared, hit his nose. It suddenly clicked the memory of the first time he saw you. It was the same smell, in the restaurant, he’d first seen you. You were shy and got nervous when he stared at you. You’d always been like that. Sweet and submissive, trying your best not to irritate him. He was just now realizing that. You’d never given him any trouble. To be honest the more he thought about you the more he realized that the two of you may have been together for a year but there weren’t any true memories that you guys had built together. He felt guilty because he knew that it was him that was never there while you always stood by his side. But now, you were gone and he was alone.

**************************************************

“___________, wake up,” your friend shook you.

“Aaaannn,” you whined, holding your pillow tightly.

“It’s important. Wake up.”

“What is it?” you popped up. “Oh my my! It’s still dark outside. Why are you waking me up?”

“Some one’s been flashing some sort of light at our window for a while now.”

“Do you really think I’m up for all of this right now? I just cried for 4 hours straight and you want me to deal with this?” you asked, really annoyed.

“At least come and check with me. I’m really scared,” she pulled you out of bed and dragged you to the window. You pushed the curtains to the side to see who it was. There was a small figure standing in the corner of the street holding a flashlight in his hands and balloons in the other.

“I can’t see clearly,” you rubbed your eyes.

“Here take your glasses,” your friend handed them to you. You put them on but immediately jumped back in surprise. It was Shinwoo, standing outside in the freezing cold with a sleeveless shirt and balloons in his hand that said Happy Anniversary on them.

“What is he doing? He’s going to catch a cold,” you said grabbing a jacket and lunging towards the door.

*********************************************************

“Are you stupid?” you yelled from across the street. He nodded back. You ran towards him and put the jacket around him. He looked at you intently as you zipped him.

“What is this Shinwoo?” you asked.

“I figured, if the balloons didn’t work than the shirt definitely will. There is no way you could see me like this,” he said with a faint smile.

“So you were taking advantage of my kindness?” you asked. He nodded once again.

“I can’t do this anymore,” you said after a long pause. “It’s not possible.”

“It is if you give me another chance,” he replied.

“What? To get hurt again?” you asked. Tears were forming in your eyes again.

“I’m so sorry _________. I didn’t mean for any of this to happen. I don’t deserve all of this. I know I don’t but I also can’t live without you. You complete me. I got so used to being pampered by your submissiveness that I started taking advantage of it unintentionally. I didn’t know I was hurting you. I’m sorry for never putting an effort into anything but I promise I will if you let me into your heart once again I’ll change all of that. I won’t be stupid. I won’t be an idiot. I won’t be forgetful and most of all I won’t hurt you.”

This was the most he’d ever said to you. You scrutinized his face to see if he really meant it.

“Well?” he said raising his eyebrows.

“I don’t know Shinwoo,” you said shaking your head.

“I know I’m not good with apologies but let me show you something,” he said pulling you towards the street. He stopped a cab and motioned you to get in.

“Where are you taking me?” you asked.

“Just get in. I promise you won’t regret this,” he insisted.

*******************************************************

The cab stopped near a lake. Shinwoo grabbed your hand and walked you to the little wooden bridge. In front of it stood a small Yacht .

“What is this?” you asked, a little surprised on the inside.

“I prepared this for our anniversary. I know its way past midnight but I want you to know that I love you. No matter what day of the year it is, I’ll always love you.”

“Whaaa,” you gasped in surprise. Had he really done all of this just for you. It was a lot coming from a person like him. “What…. I .. don’t have words,” you covered your mouth with your hands.

“From this day onwards, let celebrate our anniversary on a year and a day after our anniversary,” he said, hoping you would say yes and forgive him. How could you not. You loved him, he’d apologized, there was no reason not to.

You nodded, resting your head on his chest as the two of you walked towards the amazing treat he’d set for you. It was going to be a good anniversary after all.

So I’m finally done with this. It took me a long time to write since I kept getting distracted. Forgive me if it’s bad! :(
