You sat in the middle of Exo’s practice room, finishing the last task the manager had given you for the day.
“Hello there young lady,” Luhan walked up to you and threw some confetti on you.
“Oppa did you seriously steal that form last night’s concert?” you asked, really surprised at his sudden move.
Luhan chuckled. “Ahhh, …yeah! I did but.. but I have a perfectly good reason for that,” he said sitting beside you.
“And what would that be?” you asked, biting the end of your pen.
“You’ve got Chen’s disease too huh,” he said taking the pen from you. You gave him a look.
“Okay now don’t tell this to anyone,” he said leaning in close to you. “We are throwing Tao a surprise birthday party.”
“You guys celebrate every year with the fans. What’s so special about it?”
“No, this year we keep telling him that we won’t celebrate it since the whole idea is getting old.”
“Aish, why would you troll him like that,” you slightly hit Luhan.
“Hey Luhan ge..” Tao entered the room but stopped at the sight of you two sitting so close. He looked away. “Aaa, the manager ge is calling you outside.
“Yeah coming.” Luhan got up and quickly left. Tao turned around to look at you.
‘What?’- you asked with the slight movement of your head.
‘Nothing..’ – he replied shaking his head.

“Hey I came to drop this package for Luhan oppa,” you said as soon as Tao opened the dorm door.
“Package? He didn’t say anything was coming in the mail,” Tao replied, looking at you from head to toe.
“He needs it okay!” you insisted.
“Give it to me and I’ll give it to him,” Tao tried taking the bag from you but you immediately pulled it away. There was no way he could see what was inside it otherwise it would ruin the surprise.
“No!, I’ll only give this to Luhan oppa.“
“What’s wrong with giving it to me?,” he asked. “Do you not trust me?”
“No… aaa I mean yes I do but ..”
“Oh hey ________,” Luhan walked up behind the two of you arguing at the front door.
“At least let her in,” Luhan hit Tao on the back of his head. Tao made a face and then looked back at you.
“Here,” you pushed the bag forward, giving it to Luhan.
“What’s inside it?” Tao asked anxiously.
“None of your business,” Luhan said sternly. Tao squint his eyes at you and then Luhan. He didn’t find a reason to stay so he left.
“That was close,” you sighed with relief.
“Ye,” Luhan nodded. “So I’ll see you tomorrow at the party?”
“Ah, of course,” you replied and soon took your leave.

You were glad you lived only two blocks away from Exo M. Of course, if the company found out you would be dead but the boys did a good job with keeping it a secret. You hoped that day would be your day to tell Tao how you felt about him. You absolutely knew he was never going to do that. He was really shy and awkward around you. What’s the worst that could happen if you told him? He would reject you or just not respond all together. You were still ready to take chances. You knew Tao wasn’t a heartless guy after all and besides, the way he looked at you told you a lot about he felt about you. You looked at your present one last time. It was a leather jacket that he’d been whining Kris to get for him. Kris refused every time because Tao had way too many cloths. Even though you were in the same room you acted like you were ignoring the whole conversation. You thought, if you bought him the jacket it would be a good way of showing that you cared about him.
Hopping on the steps one by one, you finally reached the top. The door was open so anybody could come in. You tip toed into the crowded room, to hide yourself from Tao. You felt bad for not being able to get there on time to surprise him but you had another job to finish before the party.
“Where’s Tao?” you asked approaching Xiumin.
“He’s in the room still recovering from the surprise. You missed the face _________. You missed the face.” Xiumin tapped your shoulder.
“Awww man,” you snapped your fingers and quickly made your way to his room. Just as you were about to enter, you heard Tao speaking to one of the other members.
“I don’t care. She is so clingy and .. and have you seen the way she flirts with the other members. There is no way, no way possible that I would talk to her.”
“Tao, you’re acting really immature,” Kris said sternly.
“No!,” Tao snapped back. “You can’t force me to talk to her. It’s my birthday and I don’t want to mess it. If I don’t like her then I don’t like her. She is such a s***!”
“Tao,” Kris yelled his name.
The bag that you had in your hand dropped to the floor. You knew he was talking about you. Who else could it be? Tao had seen you talk to the other members all the time. Kris knew you liked him and you were sure, he was talking about you to make things easy for the two of you. But if that’s what Tao thought of you then what was there to stay for. You were appalled but more than that you were disappointed. How could he think so little of you? Tears started forming but you quickly wiped them away and began running towards the door.
“Is everything alright?” Luhan asked you as you bumped into him. You looked up with your teary eyes and shook your head.
“What happened?” he asked.
“Nothing,” you replied and quickly ran out the door.
*****************************************************************
Tao came out of the room. His foot hit the bag that you had left there.
“Who left this over here?” he asked Kris.
“I don’t know,” Kris shrugged his shoulders. Tao opened the bag and jumped up in excitement.
“Did you really get the jacket for me?” he asked but without waiting for a reply hugged Kris.
“What? No!,” Kris pushed him. “I got you socks. What are you talking about?”
“What?” Tao made a face. “Then who got me this?” Tao asked.
“Wasn’t __________ holding that bag?” Xiumin said walking up to Kris and Tao.
“_______?” Tao asked with a surprised expression.
“I’m not sure but I think I saw her holding it. Where is she anyways?” Xiumin began looking around.
“Taaaaaaaaaoooooooo,” Luhan came yelling across the room.
“What?”
“What did you do?” Luhan asked angrily.
“Nothing,” he defended himself.
“Why was __________ crying then?” Luhan asked.
“She was crying?” Tao’s heart sank immediately. “I didn’t even know she was here?”
“Well she was and now she’s not,” Luhan said sternly. “You might want to go talk to her.”
“Why me?” Tao asked but then it suddenly hit him. The jacket was the key. You got him the jacket. No one else knew about it but Kris and you. He didn’t think you cared because you acted oblivious when he was talking about it. And then the package you delivered the other day. It was for the party. Tao started to get a slight hint that you might feel the same way about him as he did about you.
“Here, hold this,” he handed the bag to Luhan and ran out the door.
************************************************
You had left your front door unlocked in a hurry. Tao came crashing inside.
“____________ where are you?” he called out. You immediately jumped out of bed and wiped your tears. You grabbed a book and started reading it so you would look normal.
“Why did you leave the party?” he asked, still catching his breath.
“I didn’t feel like staying,” you said, not looking at him.
Tao finally calmed himself and sat next to you on the bed. It was a little surprising but you wanted to hear what he had to say.
“Did you get me the jacket?” he asked looking intently at your nervous hands.
“Ye,” you nodded.
“Then why didn’t you stay to give it to me yourself?”
“I didn’t want to be clingy,” you said, recalling his words from earlier.
“Clingy? What do you mean?”
“Drop the act Tao. If you didn’t like me then you should have kept it to yourself. What was the need to tell Kris about how you felt about me?” you said as tears flowed out of your eyes once again.
“I don’t understand _________. What are you talking about?”
“Stop it,” you pushed him slightly. He held your hand and pulled you to turn around and face him.
“I came to the party and heard you say stuff about me.”
“What kind of stuff?”
“That I’m clingy and I flirt with the other members and ..and I’m a s…”
“No,” he blurted and suddenly pulled you into a hug. “I would never think of you like that. I like you _________.”
“Then..”
“I was talking about someone else.”
“Who?”
“Junji.”
“Junji?”
“She’s this other girl that just joined. ”
“Oh..”
“Yep,” he said pulling away.
“So.. you ..like me?” you asked shyly. The two of you began to blush. You looked away to hide the smile that was breaking on your face. Tao slowly slid his hand on top of yours to calm his racing heart.
“Thanks for the jacket,” he mumbled. You moved closer to him and rested your head on his shoulder. You were glad that you didn’t have to make the first move.
