It had been almost five months into your training at the TS company. You worked day and night trying to get better, in hopes of getting a chance to debut. You knew you had a long journey ahead of you and you were ready to take each step, whether hard or not, towards it.
Just like all the other nights, you decided to stay after and practice more than required. You heard someone’s footsteps towards your practice room. For a minute, you got scared but you quickly over came it and got ready to face whoever it was.
“Who forgets to turn off the lights these days,” Yongguk mumbled while walking into the room. You began to explain yourself but he continued.
“Hey you! What are you doing over here? Are you part of the cleaning crew?” he shook his head and frowned. “Were you touching the trainees’ stuff?” he asked angrily walking towards you.
“Actually I am a trainee here,” you said rolling your eyes. You knew well who he was. He was a B.A.P member. The group that had just debuted.
“And you think you can roll your eyes at me?” he asked squinting his eyes. You were a bit taken aback. He didn’t even bother apologizing to you for mistaking you as a cleaning crew member.
“I didn’t mean to,” you mumbled and looked away.
“Aish, trainees these days. You guys really don’t know how to treat your sunbaes huh?” he said sternly.
“What’s with the label? Why do you keep calling me a trainee? You, yourself were one just a few months ago,“ you said out of irritation and stepped closer to him. “Don’t go overboard.”
“What? How dare you?” he said angrily. “I’ll report your behavior to the managers.”
You suddenly realized that you shouldn’t have said that. No matter what he was still more experienced than you. At the company, they took special care of such manners. You were not too argue, no matter what the idols said.
“Aaa mianhaminda,” you apologized as Yongguk turned around to leave.
“Tell that to the managers,” he said carelessly.
“Aniyo, jebal,” you said holding on to his sleeve which you also probably shouldn’t have done. He shrugged it away and walked out of the practice room. You stood there alone, in utter confusion, cursing yourself for having a big mouth and a short temper.
************************************
The next day:
You stepped into the building hesitantly. In a few moments from then, you were going to be kicked out anyways so there was no point for you to go. Nevertheless, you still went because deep inside you had hope.
Everyone greeted you like they normally would. Some smiled, others nodded. Nothing seemed to have changed. Just then you saw Yongguk walking in your directions. You started walking the opposite way. This happened several times that day and every time you got a little bit more scared. You couldn’t tell what was going on in his mind.
It was late evening once again. Trainees and idols were getting ready to leave. You packed your bags, deciding to leave early that day. Just as you were about to leave the practice room, Yongguk walked in. He came closer to you and almost pinned you to the wall.
“I spared you this time, and this one time only,” he said grinding his teeth. He knew that you were shaking with fear. He was enjoying it. “If you do something stupid like that ever again, you’ll see what I can do.”
He quickly pulled back and walked out leaving you in state of shock. You had mixed emotions. A little part of you was happy that he didn’t tell on you but you were equally scared. He was going to be around you forever. You just had to make sure you didn’t bump into him as often.
**************************************************
Months passed away and nothing changed. Every time you crossed paths with Yongguk he would glare at you, making you tremble. You wished you could speak against him but that would only cause you harm. Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse, the managers announced that B.A.P would have to practice in the trainee’s room since their room was under renovation.
You were dumbfounded upon hearing the news. The members walked in one by one. You hid behind one of the other trainees but Yongguk’s eyes still found you. He smirked and then looked away. You hated his ego and his attitude.
After a hard day of practicing the B.A.P members settled down. The trainees still had to practice. You were minding your own business when a comment from Yongguk came, shooting your way.
“__________, if you can’t do such a simple pelvic thrust then good luck with ever debuting.”
The entire room fell silent. People looked at Yongguk and then back at you. Some girls were envious of Yongguk actually knowing your name and others felt pity for you.
You pretended like nothing had happened even though your ears had turned red with embarrassment. You went back to practicing. Yongguk walked up to the trainers and whispered something to them.
Soon after the trainers called you. Yongguk was still standing there.
“_________, Yongguk is right. We have been noticing you. You aren’t focusing on your moves. Starting next week, the managers will weed out all the average dancers. You don’t want to be one of them. So focus or leave!”
You looked at the trainer and then back at Yongguk. As usual, he had a smirk on his face. You tried hard to keep your cool, even though deep inside you were really hurt.
“Yes Seon Saing Nim,” you nodded and went back to your position.
******************************************************
A few days passed by. Yongguk remained quiet for the most part but you knew that he watched every move that you made. You had to admit that before joining the company, you admired him a lot. You thought he was really good looking but after knowing the kind of person he was, you were very heart broken. It hurt you, the way he treated you. You wanted to confront him and ask him why but you knew it would only result in him insulting you.
It was the last day before the best dancers were to be picked out. You were giving all you had at practice. Yongguk walked in and sat in one corner of the room. His presence made you nervous. You tried hard to concentrate but nothing was working up.
“____________, here’s a thought. How about you just give up now and leave instead of humiliating yourself tomorrow. It’ll save the managers some time and you won’t embarrass yourself.”
Yongguk had hit your breaking point. You completely broke down. All the suppressed feelings you’d had inside of you came out in the forms of tears. You wiped them away which were replaced by some more. What made the situation worse was, some girls laughing from the back of the room. You couldn’t take it anymore. Without thinking, you ran out of the room towards and unknown destination.
****************************************************
“That was mean Yongguk,” Himchan hit him on the arm. “I’ve been noticing this for a long time. Why do you do this to her and her only?”
“Aish, leave me alone,” Yongguk shrugged Himchan away and turned his face towards the wall.
“What’s going on?” Himchan asked.
“Nothing,” Yongguk mumbled. He seemed to be getting pale.
“Well, clearly something is wrong. You seem really upset. Just a second ago you were having fun annoying her.”
Yongguk turned around and leaned in to Himchan. “It’s because I like her okay,” he said grinding his teeth. Himchan started to get mad too.
“Then why are you annoying her?” Are you stupid?”
“No, you don’t understand,” he said and looked away again.
“Well I don’t know what’s going on in your mind but from what I can see, you need to get past your ego issues and go find her. You’ve really hurt her.” Himchan said and left leaving the rest on Yongguk.
Yongguk sat in the practice room till everybody left. Nobody tried talking to him since he was in a deep state of thinking. Deep inside he was waiting for you to return to the practice room so he could talk to you but at the same time he was scared. He was afraid, that if he saw you, he’d pour out all of his feelings.
It was completely dark outside. Everybody was long gone. There was no way you were going to come back. Yongguk got up to leave. Just then you walked into the practice room. Seeing him there, you turned around immediately.
“_________ wait,” he called after you. You didn’t stop so he ran after you.
“Listen to me,” he said pulling you around. Your eyes were puffy from crying for hours.
“I’m sorry okay,” he apologized looking right at you. You kept your eyes fixed on the floor. “I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
“But you did,” you mumbled. Yongguk stared at you for a long time trying to figure out what to say.
“You’re a great dancer..” he trailed off and sighed.
“You don’t have to say that,” you looked at him with anger in your eyes.
“No, I do.. I really do because you are and this whole time..” he paused. “This whole time I was .. insulting you because ..” he paused again still debating if he should confess or not. You looked up at him to see if he would ever finish his sentence.
“You know what screw this,” he said and pressed his lips against yours. For a brief second you had n idea what happened but then it didn’t seem as strange. In fact you liked it. Even though you hated him, you still liked him. You could feel him smile. It made you smile too.
When the two of you pulled away, both of you couldn’t stop smiling. Yongguk scratched the back of his head in nervousness.
“I’m sorry,” he said once again. You shook your head shyly. You couldn’t hate him. Your heart had forgiven him before you could even put any thought into the subject.
“Do you maybe… want to.. go out sometime?” he asked hesitantly. You nodded and ran out of the room. He wasn’t that bad after all..

*** KCON special***
“Well this is great.” You pouted and stomped your feet. “I didn’t even get to see them.”
“You at least got some good pictures.” Your friend tried to console you but even she knew that it wasn’t the same as seeing the boys in person.
“I’m so jealous. I should have been in there, getting my album signed by the members not all those other girls.” You said with frustration. You’d spent way too much money on the tickets for the KCON and all of it was going to go in a waste.
“You’ll see them at the concert.”
“Yeah but it’s not the same as seeing them in person.”
“Stop complaining,” your friend said, finally getting irritated by your sour face. “Now come on, get up. We should get ready for the concert.” She dragged you through the crowd. You walked, with a heavy heart. Before the KCON, you’d dreamt everyday of meeting the ________ boys. You’d stood in front of the mirror and practiced your smiling. You’d spent days rehearsing your Korean and Chinese. So much for all that now.
“Are you still thinking about it?” your friend nudged you out of your thoughts.
“Huh! Oh no,” you lied because you knew if you mentioned it one more time you were sure to be smacked.
The concert started soon after. Your face lit up as you saw the members walk on stage, all giving their brief introductions. They’d rehearsed them in English. That’s when you started spazzing. You knew that it couldn’t possibly go downhill from there.
“Oh Gosh, Oh Gosh, Oh my Goodness,” your friend squeezed your hand.
“I knowwwww!!,” you said while jumping and squeezing hers equally hard.
You knew you were going to lose your voice after the concert and that’s exactly what happened. You were half deaf and unable to communicate verbally.
“No regrets,” you mouthed the words to your friend.
“No regrets,” she replied giving you a thumbs up.
The concert was over. You turned around one last time to look at the empty stage, where your idols stood a few moments ago. That was it. Now all you had to do was wait for another year for them to come back.
*************************************************
“Wooo Woo Woo, Where are you going?” you asked your friend. She began walking on the opposite side.
“Home!” she replied stating the obvious.
“But I thought we were going downtown.”
“It’s too late. I’m tired,” she said meekly.
“Mmmm,” you groaned. You really did want to go downtown and see the lights. It’s not like you hadn’t seen them before. It was just that, that night was special. You wanted to make the most out of it.
“So are you coming?” she asked.
“Ah, you go on. I’ll stay around for a while.” You winked and began walking without waiting for her to respond. You knew, if you gave her a chance she was going to stop you. It was best if you left as soon as possible.
****************************************************
You sighed looking at the city lights. For some reason you felt lonely. There was this empty feeling inside of you. Looking at all the happy couples walking down the streets, reminded you of your own a few years back. You shrugged the thought out of your head and bought yourself an ice cream. Somebody suddenly bumped into you from behind just as you were about to lick it. All of it was on your face now.
“Oh .. Mianhe / [duì bù qǐ],” you heard him say.
“Look where you’re going,” you said angrily. You didn’t have a tissue to wipe your face with. Then suddenly a thought crossed your mind. The person didn’t apologize in English but in Hanguk/[Mandarin]. You looked up at him. Half of his face was covered with his hoodie and you couldn’t tell the features since both you and him were standing in the dark.
“Who are you?” you asked.
He shook his head and began walking.
“No wait,” you said running after him. For a second you thought it could be one of the idols wandering around on the streets. You’d heard many stories about it online. It didn’t hit you for even a second that it could just be a person from Korea/ [China] visiting the US.
You ran after him and pulled his sleeve, causing him to turn around.
“Oh Gosh,” you gasped, covering your mouth with your hands. You wanted to laugh and then cry but you couldn’t do either. It was just too unbelievable. ____________ was standing right before your eyes. He looked at you from up to down with a strange expression and tried to let go of his sleeve. He took out a crumbled tissue from his pocket and offered it to you. Had it been someone else, you would have thrown it back at their face but you couldn’t reject __________. He was just too special. You wiped your face quickly but he began walking.
“Wait..” you called after him. He stopped and turned around one more time. He seemed irritated.
“Where are you going?” you asked, sounding much more calm this time. The last thing you wanted to do was to freak him out. He obviously had no idea what you were saying. So once again he shook his head. You regretted not taking Korean/ [Chinese] in School.
“I don’t know,” he said after a while.
“Are you lost?” you asked.
He didn’t respond. That’s all the English he knew. You thought for a long time about what to do. He stood there and stared at you too. He seemed desperate. He did need help.
“Do you know what hotel you’re staying in?” you asked. He took a long time before responding. The name that he gave you did not sound familiar until you realized that he’d been saying it wrong. Nevertheless you now knew where he was staying. All you had to do was, to take him back there safely without getting spotted by anyone.
“I can take you there,” you said slowly, hoping he would understand.
“Ah ye..” he replied nodding his head.
You tried to seem as calm as possible but inside, your heart was racing and your legs were shaking. If you were alone you would most definitely fall to the ground and cry till someone came to pick you up.
“Let’s go..” you told him. He followed you obediently. The hotel was only two blocks away but you had other plans in mind. You were going to take the longer way. You wanted to show him around the city. The two of you squeezed through the crowd, small alleys, around big buildings and then finally reached an empty opening. You could see the sky. You wanted to stop there but before you could say something, you felt a hand on your shoulder.
“What?” you asked.
“Wait,” he said and walked towards the railing. The city lights looked beautiful from afar.
“Do you want something?” you asked.
He shook his head. He wanted to stay there for a while. What could be better than that? You stood beside him looking in the same direction he was. The light on the Ferris wheel at Disney stood out. He pointed towards it and then looked at you. You smiled back.
“Do you want to go there?” you asked. He shook his head once again. You sighed and looked up at stars. They looked even better than the lights. Everything seemed perfect. You wanted time to stand still so you could live that moment forever. There was nothing more you could ask for. __________ nudged you. His touch made your body tingle but before you could enjoy it, he pulled you to move on. You guys had stood there for a long time. It was time to leave.
Both you and him began walking once again through the buildings. You were hoping he wouldn’t realize that you purposely walked him in a circle, just to make the way longer. He turned around and looked at with questioning eyes. Your heart sank. He in fact had realized what you’d done. He seemed mad. You looked at him innocently. His expression softened and turned into a smile.
“Sorry,” you whispered. He chuckled and then scratched the back of his head. A twinge of pain ran through your heart. He was killing you with his dashing looks. You shook yourself out of your thoughts and began walking once again. A lot of street performers were out that night.
You stopped for one of them. He motioned you to walk but you refused.
“Pleaseeee!,” you insisted. He made a face and stood beside you as the two of you watched. You clapped your hands excitedly when one of the guys did a black flip and then a head stand. ________ rolled his eyes. He knew he could do better but that was no place he could show his talent. Somebody in the crowd would recognize him and that could mess things up. He held your hand and pulled you this time. You pouted and followed.
“We’re almost there,” you said giving a thumbs up. He smiled back at you. From then on every step seemed very difficult to take. Soon the two of you would have to depart ways and then he would forget about you. The rush that you’d felt moments before was fading away.
“Aaaaa,” he cried with excitement pulling your sleeve upon seeing the familiar building. He looked goofy but you still loved that. You forced a smile on your face to hide your disappointment. The managers and other members were standing outside with worry clearly visible on their faces. As soon as they saw _____________, the worry turned into angry glares. He knew the queue. He quickly ran up to them without even saying good bye. Your jaw dropped in surprise. You were more angry than shocked though. How could he just leave without saying anything but then again you shouldn’t have expected much out of him. He was an idol and you an ordinary fan. Why would he care about how you felt?
The members and managers kept yelling at him. He couldn’t even make eye contact. He finally gathered enough courage to look up but his eyes instead, fell on _________ [another member] standing far back. He was about to open his cone ice cream.
_____________ lifted his hand to stop the managers fro yelling and ran to the member in the corner. Without saying anything, __________ pulled the ice cream out of his hand and turned around looking for you. You were still standing in the corner watching him. He ran up to you and offered it to you.
A fit of laughter took you. You had no idea why you were laughing. Maybe it was, to cover up the tears that were forming. He bowed to say thank you and the next thing that happened, you couldn’t have imagined in your life. _________ leaned in and gave you a peck on the cheek. He didn’t wait for you to say anything and immediately ran back to the members. They all looked at you and waved. You smiled back, still in a state of complete shock.
You hadn’t exchanged a single word with _________ that night. You never found out why he’d left the hotel or where he was headed. You didn’t know if he was going to remember you or not. You didn’t need to know either. All you knew was that you got a lot more than you’d ever asked for. If there was anything you could wish for, it was for that night to repeat over and over again.

Okay so I ended up making it an OPTIONAL BIAS, rather than a [Tao and Yongukk] scenario. For some parts I had difficulty so I put Korean/ Chinese considering the fact that some kpop idols are Chinese lol.
I tried not to make it cheesy but the whole idea of meeting your idol is a little too “unrealistic.” I tried my best with this so I really hope you guys like it.
*Phew*
Edit: This is the only Optional Bias I’ve ever written and will write. [Until I change my mind]

“You really didn’t have to help me unpack. You have so many other things to do,” you said to Yongguk.
“No I’ll be fine. The least I can do is help you with this,” he came towards you and held you by your waist. “I am sorry for not being around as much.”
“Have I ever complained?” you said with a comforting smile, putting your arms around his neck. He leaned in and kissed you on the lips.
Your phone suddenly buzzed.
“Perfect timings,” Yongguk sighed.
“Who is it?” he asked seeing you smile at the text.
You giggled. “Oh it’s just Yu han.”
The two of you continued to unpack. It had been almost 3 hours and both of you needed to rest.
“Hey, _______ I didn’t know the two of you were this close friends.” Yongguk walked towards you handing you a bunch of pictures.
You looked at them. They were pictures of you and Yu han. He was attempting to kiss you on the cheek and you were making face. There was another one of you two hugging and another one with you laying on top of him.
You smiled as you looked at them. “We’ve been friends since middle school what would you expect?” you said as you put them away. “Now come on, I’ll make you some coco. It’s really chilly outside.”
You and Yongguk had been going out for 5 months now. He wasn’t one of those people who started a relationship with friendship. He came up to you one day and blabbered all his feelings. You hadn’t even known him for that long but you liked his straight forwardness, so you said yes. His looks were just a bonus ;)
**************************************
You were throwing a party for graduating out of university. It was a big day but you were upset because Yongguk was going to be a little late. That is not how you had expected your party to be like. Nevertheless Yu han was there to give you company.
“Who are those people in the corner?” you asked Yu Han.
“They are a year younger.”
“I don’t remember inviting them to the party.”
“It’s a graduation party. I can bet you, you don’t know half the people in here.”
“Yeah, but I don’t like the way they are staring at us and whispering,” you replied getting up. “I’m going to the ladies room, k.”
You texted Yongguk asking him where he was. As soon as you stepped out of the restroom, somebody grabbed you from behind and dragged you into a small room. You couldn’t even yell for help because your mouth was covered. You used all your force to push him back and turned around. It was the same guy who had been staring at you and Yu Han. He lunged towards you and yanked your shirt off. You were shocked. You didn’t even have time to stop him. You screamed for help but he covered your mouth again. “Shut up,” he whispered as he tightened his grip on your hand.
The door flung open and Yu Han sprinted towards the both of you. He had heard you scream. He pulled the guy’s collar and pushed him to the side. Before he could hit him the guy ran out of the room.
“Yu Han stop,” you said while sobbing.
“No, I need to..,” he said turning.
“Please Yu Han,” you pleaded while trying to cover up your body.
He sighed and looked around for your shirt. It was in the corner of the room. He picked it up for you but before you could take it from him Yongguk entered the room. You wanted to go hug him and bury you face in his chest and cry but before you could do that you realized how misleading the situation was.
“Oppa, you whispered but he looked away. You didn’t know if he was angry or disappointed.
“I’ll leave the two of you alone,” Yu Han said and slowly left the room. You could see that he wanted to say something but he thought it best to leave the matter to you.
You quickly wore your shirt. Yongguk closed the door behind him and walked towards you. He was angry.
“So this is what you call friendship?” he asked grabbing hold of your arms.
“Oppa let me explain!”
“I can’t believe this. I thought you were better than this,” he said pushing you away.
“No this is not.. Just let me explain okay?”
“What are you going to explain? That you were having sex with your friend behind my back? You didn’t let me touch you. You wanted us to wait. Is this what it was for?… So you could cheat on me?”
You were shocked at the cutting words he was using.
He came towards you and pulled your shirt from the shoulder with force.
“Aaaaaa,” you screamed in pain. You were crying again. “He grabbed your hand and pulled you towards him, sliding his rough hands on your bare body.
You don’t have to do this Yongguk. You know you’ll regret it,” you said struggling to pull away.
.He stopped ,“You’re right! I don’t!” Tears were forming in the corner of his eyes.
“I may not have said this but I really loved you. I fell in love with you the minute I saw you. If you weren’t happy why didn’t you just say it. I would have quietly walked out of your life. But this? I did not deserve this.”
“Yongguk you know I love you and only you.”
“It’s over _______,” his voice was barely audible. He looked away and wiped his tears.
Your heart sank. You were losing the one you loved so much. Five months might not have been a long time but they were long enough for you to fall madly in love with him. He was the one, and you knew it. But today seeing him slip out of your hands like this was not what you had expected. You were disappointed too. He should have trusted you no matter what he saw. If he really loved you he would have at least listened but he didn’t. You asked yourself if it was really worth staying for. It wasn’t. You knew you had to leave. You fixed the ripped part of your shirt and got up.
“I thought you trusted me!” you said as you closed the door behind you.
*************************************
“Just go away okay,” Yongguk yelled as he saw Yu Han walking towards him. Yu Han was dragging a someone along with him.
“Tell him what you did,” Yu Han said while smacking the guy.
“I’m sorry,” the guy said while crying.
“What’s going on?” Yongguk asked.
“I’m sorry for hurting your girl friend,” the guy said between sobs.
Yongguk didn’t need to hear anything else. It all started making sense. He was devastated. He wished he had listened to you. This is what you’d been trying to tell him.
“Oh My God what have I done?” he said smacking his forehead with his palm. He couldn’t contain his anger and punched the guy.
“Stop! I’ll take care of him. You need to go find ____ right now.” Yu han suggested.
**************************************
Yongguk used the spare keys under the mat to enter your apartment. You were sleeping, curled up in the bed. He sat beside you and lifted your wrist softly giving you a kiss your bruise. He could see the deep mark on your shoulder. He hated himself for doing that to you. He ran his fingers on it. A tear fell from his eyes on to your arm. He quickly wiped it and got up to leave.
You sat up. “What are you doing here?” you whispered.
Yongguk stared at you with blank eyes. He began saying something but stopped. He rubbed his eyes, preventing more tears from forming. He wanted you, more than anything in this world.
“I’m sorry,” that’s all he could come up with. The guilt was killing him.
You were disappointed and looked away. He sat beside you and held your hand but you pulled away.
“Yu Han and that guy told me everything.” He paused and took a deep breath. “What I have done cannot be forgiven. I wasn’t there for you when you needed me and when I came I didn’t trust you. I didn’t listen to you when you tried to explain and … and I hurt you. But I am so, so sorry about this. I hate myself so much for what I have done.” He buried his face in his hands. “But I can’t live without you. I was wrong when I said I didn’t love you anymore because I still do. I want you back in my life. I promise you I will never hurt you again. I know I don’t deserve a second chance but you are so kind hearted. If you could just find it in your heart to forgive me? I am so sorry ________. I don’t have word anymore.” He looked at you for an answer. You didn’t respond.
“Would you have said the same thing, if you didn’t find out the truth?” you finally said.
He didn’t know what to say. You had left him speechless. You were right. He had hurt you a lot. You could see the miserable look on his face. You wanted to hug him but you kept back.
“I understand if you don’t want to be with me. A guy like me doesn’t deserve you,” he said placing his hand on yours. “Just know that I will do anything for your forgiveness.”
He got and without looking back left the room. Your heart was telling you to stop him because deep down you still loved him. He was everything to you. You couldn’t just let go of him. The truth was, you would never be able to move on knowing that he still loved you.
You ran after him. “Oppa wait,” you called from behind. He looked at you with longing eyes.
“Please don’t leave me!”
Before you knew, Yongguk wrapped you around his arms hugging you in a tight embrace. He kissed you repeatedly on your face.
“I promise you, you won’t regret this,” he whispered.
‘You didn’t know if the decision that you had made was right or not but you felt alive again.’
