Your Wish Is My Command

The moment was perfect in itself [Rain]

It was a fine morning. A little chilly but not enough to make you wear three layers of jackets like most other girls. You walked out of the store that you hated and yet loved at the same time. It was three months ago that you had first visited it and your heart fell on a beautiful necklace. The stone was sapphire blue with crystals studs around the corner. Sadly, you didn’t have enough money to buy it with the small job that you had. That day you had promised yourself you save a good part of your monthly income for that necklace. Once you liked something you had to get it. And so you began saving. It took you three months but it was worth it. The necklace was now in your hands. You didn’t know it they were shaking because of the cold or because you were just too nervous to hold it.

You looked up and around. There weren’t a lot of people out on the street at that early hour. You looked at the slim box repeatedly. You wanted to open it and look at it, touch it, feel it…

And so you did take it out of the box and began rubbing the shiny stone. The next second a large body bumped into you out of nowhere. The necklace was on the floor, the stone broken into two halves.

“Whaaaa!” You stood in horror.  It took you a good minute to realize that you hadn’t moved an inch. “No, no, noooo!,” you cried bending down to pick it up. “How could you? How could you do this?”

“It’s just a necklace,” the voice from the figure standing about you said. He couldn’t see your face since it was covered with your long hair. “And frankly speaking, it doesn’t look like it’s good quality if it broke in one flick,” he added on.

“WHAT!!!,” you jumped up and yelled in his face. You pushed your hair back and looked at him with blazing eyes. “How dare you? Instead of apologizing you’re using such words. Are you stupid? I spent three months’ savings on this and you’re telling me it’s fake.” You looked him up and down. He seemed like a rich, pampered guy. “Of course you wouldn’t know what that means since you can buy anything, anytime. This is the problem with you rich people. You could care less about how other people are living in this world. How they must feel when things are taken from them.” You were so angry that you didn’t notice from the moment you had revealed your face to him he hadn’t blinked for once. He had been staring, or rather examining each and every moment you were making and blocking out everything you were saying. “Umm hello!,” you snapped your fingers in his face. He still didn’t respond. “You know what? You are stupid. Really, really stupiddddd,” you emphasized leaning in on him.

You shoved the necklace back into the box and began walking, making sure to hit his shoulder with yours as you left. You had no idea that he was still looking at you and this time with a faint smile that had embraced his lips. He stretched his hand out to call after you but your figure had blended into the small pool of people. You were gone and you had taken his heart with you…

“You don’t understand. I have to find her Kevin.”

“Do you know her name? Her number? Where she works? Where she lives? It’s been a week. Get over it.”

“I know what she looks like,” he said shaking his head as if he was in sort of a dream and then sighed deeply.

“Look at yourself man. Are you even okay? This isn’t a Cinderella Story. You can’t just find people in a big city like this one.”

“I know but I have to find her. She’s beautiful.”

“There are so many beautiful girls who throw themselves over you everyday. You don’t seem to care about them.”

“I do. I love my fans but she’s different. There’s something about her and I can’t control what my heart feels.” Rain smashed the magazine into Kevin’s chest and got up. “I got an idea.”

“And would you like to tell me what it is?”

“No,” he shook his head. “Just wait here okay? I’ll be back in a bit.”

Rain walked down the same street he had bumped into you, a week ago. He knew that the store you bought the necklace from had to be on the street and he was right. That was the only jewelry store in the area. He proudly walked in and up to the shop keeper.

“I’d like to get some information about this girl who bought a necklace from you last week.” The shop keeper looked up at him to see if he was actually serious. No doubt he was.

“You can’t be serious right?” he asked, trying hard not to laugh.

“I am very serious,” Rain ensured him.

The shop keeper leaned in closer to him and began, “do you know how many girls come here to buy jewelry everyday?”

Rain shook his head getting a little uncomfortable.

“Exactly,” the shop keeper said and pulled back. “Now would you excuse me? I have other stuff to do.”

“No but you don’t understand. This is important. The stone,” he snapped his fingers twice.. “aaa I think it was sapphire blue and.. and it had crystal studs.”

“We had five pieces. Four of them have been sold. Which means four different people bought it. And here’s the big news. I don’t keep record of my customers.” The shopkeeper replied with special emphasize on the last line. He seemed pretty annoyed.

Rain stood in silence for a long time, thinking about what to do next. His little idea had failed. Kevin was right. Finding someone in a big city like Seoul was next to impossible. He had to think of a better way or just leave it to fate..

“Okay,” he sighed. “Let me just buy the last piece then.”

“Great,” the guy behind the counter clapped his hands.

Rain bought the necklace in hopes of seeing you again one day because someone once told him that if you love something to such an extent, the whole world aspires to get it to you.

As a part of your quarterly bonus, your job offered you two tickets to some random concert. You weren’t planning on going but your friend dragged you to it.

“I could have been doing better things at home. I don’t even know this singer.”

“Did you just say you don’t know this singer? What world do you live in?” she slicked you head with her finger.

“Aish, stop,” you pushed her, already annoyed for being where you were at the moment. The crowd was pretty thick. Quite the opposite of what you had expected.

“What? No seats?” you cried  upon entering the stadium.

“Yes! No seats. Have you never been to a concert?”

“Yes I have and most have seats.”

“Well this one doesn’t so deal with it,” she replied. You knew you had to shut up before either of you got on each other’s last nerve.

The concert started a few minutes later. The announcer introduced all the local high school bands that were going to present their skills before Rain appeared on stage. You weren’t concentrating on the stage for one bit. Suddenly the crowd started cheering which forced you to look up.

“Aigoo,” you cried and pulled your friend. “That’s him. That’s the one.”

“I know he is the one. Everyone else is here to see him too.”

“No, no, no silly. That guy is the one who broke my precious necklace.”

“__________ are you in your sense. That guy is a super star.”

“Well too bad. He is going to pay tonight,” your grind your and formed a fist. Your anger flushed a little when he began singing. His voice was beautiful. It sort of caught you in the flow. Your friend forced your hands up in the air. You were struggling with her when you caught his eyes. Rain almost chocked on his note. He couldn’t believe it. You were really standing before his eyes. You didn’t look amused but he was just happy seeing you there.

The song ended which was followed by another song. Your friend dragged you through the crowd close to the stage. Rain walked close to the edge and made eye contact with you. You squinted your eyes and looked away. You felt a nudge on your elbow. You turned around with an annoyed face. Your friend pointed to the hand that was in front of you.

“What,” you gasped and looked up. Rain was offering you his hand to come up on stage.

“Take it ________,” she whispered. “If you don’t then I will.”

“Oh heck no,” you said and immediately grabbed his hand in hopes of taking your revenge on stage. Rain was singing while you stood on stage. Your eyes were blinded by the light. The crowd was cheering and the fangirls were killing themselves for not being chosen. You shook your head but kept a firm smile on your face. To your surprise your anger was actually fading away. His voice was radiating some sort of a funny feeling in your body. His smile seemed contagious too. You shook your head again but you knew well that the feeling wouldn’t go away. Rain reached for his pocket and took out a very familiar looking object. It was the same necklace, except that that one wasn’t broken.

“Wooaaa,” you covered your mouth. Your gaze immediately fell on his face. He offered it to you. You couldn’t believe it. He pulled your hand and carefully placed the necklace in it. The song ended and you were asked to get off the stage.

Rain sang a few more songs after which the concert ended.

“I don’t believe this. He really did give you a necklace.”

“I don’t either. I mean., how did he remember? How did he know I was coming here? Did he keep it with him all this time?” You shook your friend.

“Ma’am someone would like to see you,” a guy dressed in black said from behind you. He looked like a security guard.

“Who?” you blurted.

“Come with me,” he said. You followed him, knowing exactly who you would see in just a few minutes.

Your intuition was right. Rain stood before you with a bright smile. He looked at you and then the necklace in your hands and then back at you.

“Why don’t you wear it?” he asked.

“Aaa.. I’m sorry,” you said.

“What? What do you mean?”

“I’m sorry for getting mad at you the other day. And you probably think I’m a very shallow person, crying over a necklace like this one.”

“Oh no, no! Not at all.”

“But thank you! This means a lot,” you said. You were nervous but you were doing a good job with hiding it. Both you and him stood in silence. He still couldn’t believe that he really had found you.

“What’s your name?” he finally asked.

“_______,” you replied.

“__________, would you like to go out with me sometime?” he asked. You looked up at him in surprise, thinking he was joking but he wasn’t. He was very serious.

“I’m sorry that just came out of nowhere but..”

“I’d love too,” you cut him short. You were also smiling now. You didn’t know when, but you had started liking him too. He wasn’t that bad after all. You no longer needed answers to all the questions you had in your mind. The moment was perfect in itself.
