Present day:
Your hands were covered with his blood. You had tried hard, really hard to save him from bleeding to death. Just a few seconds ago he was standing before you, alive and threatening to kill you. You were sure you were going to die that night but then he came back to protect you like he always had in the past. He was an angel but somewhere along the way you had stopped believing that. It was his fault. He had decided to leave one day without telling anyone. You and the other gang members were surprised but more than that you were all heartbroken. Even though all of you had only known him for a few months, he had made a place in everyone’s heart.
And today when he finally came back, he gave you hope. But that hope died as soon as it came. He was gone after he put that man to his ultimate end. He didn’t even wait to say a proper goodbye.

Six months ago:
“Who is he? Why did you bring him in here? You know this is our..” Himchan panicked seeing Yongguk carry a dying man into the shed.
“Oh shut up Himchan… look at him. He’s bleeding. We need to help him,” you said pushing him aside and running for aid.
“He was running away from M4’s gang members but they caught up to him…” Yongguk replied. He gave the wounded man support and walked him to the bed. You took off his shirt to find the source of bleeding. He was breathing heavily and recovery seemed impossible. He tilted his head to the side to look at you. He held your hands tightly, as if telling you he didn’t want to die. You turned to Yongguk for help. “There could be something we can do…we can’t let him die like this.” Yongguk nodded his head and then he was gone. You turned around to look at the man. His eyes were closing. You had to keep him awake. He had to struggle. You didn’t know him but at that moment, all you wanted for him was to live.

Everyone sat by the fireplace to listen to Zelo’s strange stories. He’s promised he would come up with some wonderful ones at the next win. It had been a big day for the members, against the Zerox brothers. They had taken over your gang’s supplies a year ago and that day you had won them back. The room was filled with the air of success. Everyone seemed happy until he walked in. The room fell silent. His eyes met Yongguk’s as if complaining for still treating him like an outsider. It had been a little over a month since he had ‘joined’ the group. Yongguk laughed out loud, encouraging the members to act normal and invited Youngjae to come join. Youngjae- that’s what his name was.
He came and sat beside you- the only girl in the group. In the past one month he had asked you several times why you were with these people. You had always found his questions strange. The members were like your family. There was no question of not being with them.
Zelo continued with the story while the rest listened. Youngjae slipped his hand to the side. Without any sign of hesitance he held yours. The two of you were in the corner, kind of in the dark therefore no one could see what was happening.
“Let go,” you whispered fighting hard with that smile on your face. Youngjae shook his head and tightened his grip.
“If they see you do this, they will get mad at you…especially Yongguk,” you said.
“He won’t,” he replied. You thought it best not to fight and remain calm. The more you spoke the more the suspicions would rise. Yongguk eyed you. You tried to move your hand where he wouldn’t be able to see but his gaze danced along your every move. He smiled a little and looked away. He knew about your little love affair with the new comer. He’d known all along but never bothered saying anything. In fact he acted like it didn’t bother him when in reality, it hurt a lot.
*******************************************************
A few more months passed by. Youngjae had become a much dearer member to the group. He had helped in small gang attacks to carrying out bigger plans. Sometimes he asked you guys why you did such stuff. None of you ever had an answer. All of you were sort of born into that. Yongguk told Youngjae to accept his fate and stop interrogating so much. If he wanted to be part of the group, he had to accept the way you all lived.
You were nervous for Youngjae. For the upcoming mission he was required to go into the police head quarters. It was tricky but Youngjae had accepted graciously. He had mentioned once before that he was familiar with the inside of the building therefore he could get the work done faster.
You, Jongup and Daehyun waited in the car while Youngjae operated from the inside of the building. He was looking up the records for the M4 gang members. Your gang was going to use it very cunningly to your advantage. Youngjae was being monitored very carefully by the camera you had put on his shirt. However, a few minutes after he gained access to the files, the camera stopped working. There was no trace of him.
“Youngjae.. respond,” Daehyun cried through the transceiver. There was no response. You tried hard to work with the camera but it seemed as if it had been disconnected instead of being broken. You lied to the other members though. You told them that someone might have crept up on him from behind.
Daehyun, who always had trouble trusting Youngjae thought quite the opposite. “You’re lying,” he yelled. The three of you waited for a long time but it was confirmed. There was no sign of him. He was not going to come back.
You could feel sweat beads forming on your forehead as you anticipated his arrival. A fear though, was creeping on you. Deep down you had a feeling he was not going to come. Just earlier that day, he had held your hand and told you he cared about you. He had said that before too but for some reason you didn’t want to believe him that day. Something just seemed different about him.
“Let’s go back. That traitor won’t come back,” Daehyun said grinding his teeth. Jongup started the engine with a heavy heart. Youngjae indeed had betrayed you all.
*******************************************************
Present Day:
“_______!________ are you alright?” you heard Yongguk say. “Why did you come here alone? You knew those guys were dangerous? Do you have any idea how worried I was about you?” With that he pulled you into a hug.
You were still in a state of shock, not being able to say a single word. Yongguk rubbed your back to make you feel better.
“He…he..came back,” you whispered into his ear. Yongguk’s ear perked like that of a predator. He pulled back to look at you.
“Where is he?” Yongguk asked as his nostrils flared with anger. You’d never seen him like that. He never got angry but that day, hearing you talk about him brought all of his inner anger out.
“He left…! I don’t know where he came from but he shot this guy while I was being attacked and then left before I could stop him. …I don’t know why he didn’t stop. Not even when I tried to call him..” you buried your face into your hand and began crying. Your condition was piercing Yongguk’s heart. He looked at the other members. They knew why Youngjae was never going to return and he felt that it was time he told you.
“He’s with the police!” Yongguk said rather plainly.
“What?” you looked at him strangely.
“Jongup found out a few days ago. The only reason he ‘joined’ out gang was to get information about how our system works. We don’t know why he spared us but …all I know is that…I made a mistake trusting him…”
After that Yongguk’s words stopped registering in your head. You started to remember all the lies Youngjae told you. His police badge flashed before your eyes. How could you miss something as obvious as that? He tried to hide it as soon as you saw it. He lied and you believed.
“Come on ________!” Yongguk said lifting you up. “It may hurt now but time will heal all.” You rested your head on Yongguk’s shoulder as you and the rest of the members walked back. One question that remained in everyone’s heart was, ‘Was he really a traitor or not?’

It had been almost five months into your training at the TS company. You worked day and night trying to get better, in hopes of getting a chance to debut. You knew you had a long journey ahead of you and you were ready to take each step, whether hard or not, towards it.
Just like all the other nights, you decided to stay after and practice more than required. You heard someone’s footsteps towards your practice room. For a minute, you got scared but you quickly over came it and got ready to face whoever it was.
“Who forgets to turn off the lights these days,” Yongguk mumbled while walking into the room. You began to explain yourself but he continued.
“Hey you! What are you doing over here? Are you part of the cleaning crew?” he shook his head and frowned. “Were you touching the trainees’ stuff?” he asked angrily walking towards you.
“Actually I am a trainee here,” you said rolling your eyes. You knew well who he was. He was a B.A.P member. The group that had just debuted.
“And you think you can roll your eyes at me?” he asked squinting his eyes. You were a bit taken aback. He didn’t even bother apologizing to you for mistaking you as a cleaning crew member.
“I didn’t mean to,” you mumbled and looked away.
“Aish, trainees these days. You guys really don’t know how to treat your sunbaes huh?” he said sternly.
“What’s with the label? Why do you keep calling me a trainee? You, yourself were one just a few months ago,“ you said out of irritation and stepped closer to him. “Don’t go overboard.”
“What? How dare you?” he said angrily. “I’ll report your behavior to the managers.”
You suddenly realized that you shouldn’t have said that. No matter what he was still more experienced than you. At the company, they took special care of such manners. You were not too argue, no matter what the idols said.
“Aaa mianhaminda,” you apologized as Yongguk turned around to leave.
“Tell that to the managers,” he said carelessly.
“Aniyo, jebal,” you said holding on to his sleeve which you also probably shouldn’t have done. He shrugged it away and walked out of the practice room. You stood there alone, in utter confusion, cursing yourself for having a big mouth and a short temper.
************************************
The next day:
You stepped into the building hesitantly. In a few moments from then, you were going to be kicked out anyways so there was no point for you to go. Nevertheless, you still went because deep inside you had hope.
Everyone greeted you like they normally would. Some smiled, others nodded. Nothing seemed to have changed. Just then you saw Yongguk walking in your directions. You started walking the opposite way. This happened several times that day and every time you got a little bit more scared. You couldn’t tell what was going on in his mind.
It was late evening once again. Trainees and idols were getting ready to leave. You packed your bags, deciding to leave early that day. Just as you were about to leave the practice room, Yongguk walked in. He came closer to you and almost pinned you to the wall.
“I spared you this time, and this one time only,” he said grinding his teeth. He knew that you were shaking with fear. He was enjoying it. “If you do something stupid like that ever again, you’ll see what I can do.”
He quickly pulled back and walked out leaving you in state of shock. You had mixed emotions. A little part of you was happy that he didn’t tell on you but you were equally scared. He was going to be around you forever. You just had to make sure you didn’t bump into him as often.
**************************************************
Months passed away and nothing changed. Every time you crossed paths with Yongguk he would glare at you, making you tremble. You wished you could speak against him but that would only cause you harm. Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse, the managers announced that B.A.P would have to practice in the trainee’s room since their room was under renovation.
You were dumbfounded upon hearing the news. The members walked in one by one. You hid behind one of the other trainees but Yongguk’s eyes still found you. He smirked and then looked away. You hated his ego and his attitude.
After a hard day of practicing the B.A.P members settled down. The trainees still had to practice. You were minding your own business when a comment from Yongguk came, shooting your way.
“__________, if you can’t do such a simple pelvic thrust then good luck with ever debuting.”
The entire room fell silent. People looked at Yongguk and then back at you. Some girls were envious of Yongguk actually knowing your name and others felt pity for you.
You pretended like nothing had happened even though your ears had turned red with embarrassment. You went back to practicing. Yongguk walked up to the trainers and whispered something to them.
Soon after the trainers called you. Yongguk was still standing there.
“_________, Yongguk is right. We have been noticing you. You aren’t focusing on your moves. Starting next week, the managers will weed out all the average dancers. You don’t want to be one of them. So focus or leave!”
You looked at the trainer and then back at Yongguk. As usual, he had a smirk on his face. You tried hard to keep your cool, even though deep inside you were really hurt.
“Yes Seon Saing Nim,” you nodded and went back to your position.
******************************************************
A few days passed by. Yongguk remained quiet for the most part but you knew that he watched every move that you made. You had to admit that before joining the company, you admired him a lot. You thought he was really good looking but after knowing the kind of person he was, you were very heart broken. It hurt you, the way he treated you. You wanted to confront him and ask him why but you knew it would only result in him insulting you.
It was the last day before the best dancers were to be picked out. You were giving all you had at practice. Yongguk walked in and sat in one corner of the room. His presence made you nervous. You tried hard to concentrate but nothing was working up.
“____________, here’s a thought. How about you just give up now and leave instead of humiliating yourself tomorrow. It’ll save the managers some time and you won’t embarrass yourself.”
Yongguk had hit your breaking point. You completely broke down. All the suppressed feelings you’d had inside of you came out in the forms of tears. You wiped them away which were replaced by some more. What made the situation worse was, some girls laughing from the back of the room. You couldn’t take it anymore. Without thinking, you ran out of the room towards and unknown destination.
****************************************************
“That was mean Yongguk,” Himchan hit him on the arm. “I’ve been noticing this for a long time. Why do you do this to her and her only?”
“Aish, leave me alone,” Yongguk shrugged Himchan away and turned his face towards the wall.
“What’s going on?” Himchan asked.
“Nothing,” Yongguk mumbled. He seemed to be getting pale.
“Well, clearly something is wrong. You seem really upset. Just a second ago you were having fun annoying her.”
Yongguk turned around and leaned in to Himchan. “It’s because I like her okay,” he said grinding his teeth. Himchan started to get mad too.
“Then why are you annoying her?” Are you stupid?”
“No, you don’t understand,” he said and looked away again.
“Well I don’t know what’s going on in your mind but from what I can see, you need to get past your ego issues and go find her. You’ve really hurt her.” Himchan said and left leaving the rest on Yongguk.
Yongguk sat in the practice room till everybody left. Nobody tried talking to him since he was in a deep state of thinking. Deep inside he was waiting for you to return to the practice room so he could talk to you but at the same time he was scared. He was afraid, that if he saw you, he’d pour out all of his feelings.
It was completely dark outside. Everybody was long gone. There was no way you were going to come back. Yongguk got up to leave. Just then you walked into the practice room. Seeing him there, you turned around immediately.
“_________ wait,” he called after you. You didn’t stop so he ran after you.
“Listen to me,” he said pulling you around. Your eyes were puffy from crying for hours.
“I’m sorry okay,” he apologized looking right at you. You kept your eyes fixed on the floor. “I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
“But you did,” you mumbled. Yongguk stared at you for a long time trying to figure out what to say.
“You’re a great dancer..” he trailed off and sighed.
“You don’t have to say that,” you looked at him with anger in your eyes.
“No, I do.. I really do because you are and this whole time..” he paused. “This whole time I was .. insulting you because ..” he paused again still debating if he should confess or not. You looked up at him to see if he would ever finish his sentence.
“You know what screw this,” he said and pressed his lips against yours. For a brief second you had n idea what happened but then it didn’t seem as strange. In fact you liked it. Even though you hated him, you still liked him. You could feel him smile. It made you smile too.
When the two of you pulled away, both of you couldn’t stop smiling. Yongguk scratched the back of his head in nervousness.
“I’m sorry,” he said once again. You shook your head shyly. You couldn’t hate him. Your heart had forgiven him before you could even put any thought into the subject.
“Do you maybe… want to.. go out sometime?” he asked hesitantly. You nodded and ran out of the room. He wasn’t that bad after all..
