“Every time she tried to take one step forward he pulled her two steps back…”

“Excuse me ma’am! Would you take a picture of my wife and I?” a handsome young man asked you. You were so engrossed in preparing your song that you almost jumped at his sudden appearance. You glanced at him and his beautiful wife. The way his fingers danced around her waist and the way the smile on her face was forever unfading you could tell that they were newly wedded. “Oh sure,” you said, taking the camera from his hand. Their faces were lit with happiness– a happiness you were not quite familiar with, yourself.
“Thank you,” the young man said, taking the camera back from you. You gave the couple, your biggest smile before settling down once again to practice the song. There were people everywhere- all around you. You occasionally glanced at them. It made you happy to see them happy. Of course it was not the first time you were playing piano at a wedding. You had done it many times before but that day seemed special. People seemed extra happy. You shook your hand lightly, at your charmed thoughts and once again began to exercise your fingers.
Time flew by quickly. The soft morning breezes turned into afternoon gusts. In just a few moments the groom was going to enter the room. People were going to congratulate him and then everybody would anticipate the bride’s arrival. Guests had started to settle. Some looked calm while others were whispering impatiently.
The sound of the door creaking caught everyone’s attention. “It must be the groom,” a young lady from behind said. She was shushed by her momma very vivaciously. You straightened your back, took a deep breath and within a few moments your hands began running along the keys. A tender muse filled the air which quite complimented the light head movements from the persons present. The sound of footsteps mixed with the sound of music created a sweet rhythm. You closed your eyes to picture the song in your mind. The footsteps stopped. You knew the groom had reached the stage. You could feel his presence too. Then very slowly, you opened your eyes to see who the lucky bachelor for that night was. Your gaze fell on him and…
And … there in that moment you felt a slight tinge of pain in your heart. A misty smile conquered your face. It was only a reflection of the indescribable feeling you felt. ‘Of course,’ – you thought to yourself as a chuckle took you. You turned your face back to the piano to avoid eye contact with him. You knew you would have to do that for the rest of the night.
Your eyes shut once again as you tried to picture the melody in your head. It was hard this time. Memories from the past were escaping the tightly locked doors and presenting themselves to you on a gold platter. You twitched a little, at their atrocious act but there was nothing you could do but to accept them. Then, finally you smiled to ease the wrinkles off of your forehead.

Four Years ago:
You felt uneasy in the new atmosphere. Your mind cursed your advisor for telling you last minute that you had to take another math class before you could sign up for your major. “What’s wrong?” you heard your friend ask. You looked at her strangely, unable to comprehend her words. You were too preoccupied in your thoughts. “Are .. you.. okay?” she asked once again putting emphasis on each word. “Yeah…ye! I’m fine,” you replied with a slight shake of the head. She leaned in a little closer to you as if ready to whisper some very secretive words. “That tall handsome stud sitting two rows behind us… hasn’t taken his eyes off of you for a long time,” she ended with her classic smirk. You waited for a few seconds before turning around to see who it was. That minute you knew your friend has thought wrong. The guy was perfection. Why would he be staring at you? You smiled awkwardly at him and turned around to give your friend a good spanking.
“You think he was staring at me?” you asked.
“Ahan,” she nodded boldly.
“Oh Lily what will I ever do about you?” You shook your head. The professor walked again. Class started and everything that had happened was forgotten.
You thought you had put the subject to rest but ever since Lily mentioned that hot stud, you had been seeing him everywhere. The two of you would make awkward eye contact and then quickly look away. It was getting out of control. You took Lily in confidence and told her what had been happening. He was literally everywhere. You had started to feel a connection with him. You could tell that he knew you and you him but the only problem was- the two of you had never talked to each other.
“Should I talk to him?” you asked Lily out of frustration.
“Talk to him… ah yeeahh of course!” she encouraged you.
“But what will I say?” you asked. “We don’t know each other. It will be awkward if I just randomly say something. Aren’t guys supposed to take the first step?”
“They are… the world is changing. Make the first move. He basically stares at you as if he wants to talk to might as well give it a shot.”
“But if he does look at me all the time why doesn’t he just come talk to me. I don’t bite.”
“He doesn’t know that… and besides… he might be too shy.” Lily held your hand to give you a slight push. She knew you could do it. If you never asked you would never know the answer.
“Okay,” you finally announced. You were going to do what many wouldn’t have dared to.
The next day you walked into class rehearsing your lines. You were going to ask him to help you with a math problem. What guy would not want to help a girl who is stuck with a problem. You smiled confidently and walked up to him. Not many people were there. He was an early bird and so were you.
“Hey,” you said from behind. He turned around as if he knew you were going to ask him something. Your confidence started to flush out when he looked at you straight in the eye.
“Your name is …Kris! Right?” you asked.
“Ah yeah,” he replied rather enthusiastically.
“I was wondering if you could help me with a problem.” You asked. You could tell that your face was bright red and your hands were shaking. You clenched the seat near you, tightly hoping he wouldn’t see it.
People had started to come in and the room was getting crowded. “How about we meet somewhere else?” he asked.
“Where?” you asked, dazed by his bold step.
“The coffee shop near the library around 1 o clock? Here take my number and I will text you when I get there okay?” He had said so much in such a little time that your brain could not comprehend much. He took your phone and saved his number in it.
**************************************************
You sat in the coffee shop waiting for his arrival. It was almost 1:30. You knew he would have a good reason for being that late. He looked like such a gentleman. Your phone buzzed. It was a message from him. ‘Hey really sorry but I won’t be able to make it. Maybe some other time?’
That’s it. That’s all he had said. You felt like a fool for thinking he would actually show up. He would actually help you. Then you calmed yourself. He could have gotten busy with something serious. He said he would help you later so now all you had to do was wait for him to message you again. You texted him back telling him to let you know when he was available.
You were good in math. Smarter than many. You didn’t need his help but you just wanted him to be there because deep down you had started to believe a fairytale. He liked you, you liked him – end of story. You thought you had done him a favor by talking to him and so the rest was up to him. He had to be the one to make an effort and talk again.
After that day, the two of looked at each other but neither or you said a word. You wanted to ask him if he would ever text you back but that would make you look desperate. You did not want that. Days passed by and nothing happened. He acted like somehow that day had never happened. You had never talked to him. He had never texted you. It bothered you. You told yourself you hated him but your heart whispered ‘no you don’t.’ It was killing you.
Then slowly you started to curse yourself for even daring to think a guy as handsome as him could ever like you. You thought of many alternatives. He could have a staring problem. He wasn’t good at math so he didn’t want to embarrass himself. He had feelings for someone else. And so on and so forth. You had decided to forget about it all together. It was a good that things had ended before they started…
************************************************
2 months later:
You sat under the moonlight looking up at the stars for answers to all your questions. The test you had failed earlier that week, on top of your friends ditching you to go see a movie and than your car breaking down last minute. All the little things had added up creating a huge lump in your heart. You wanted to let it all out. You wanted to cry but you were also afraid someone would see you. Sitting outside your own dorm building was not exactly the bed place to cry your heart out and expect no one to notice. You glanced at your watch. It was almost two in the morning. You were safe. You could cry and no one would be there. And so you let a tear drop from your eye. It felt good on the inside. More came gushing out and then within a few seconds you were crying.
“I don’t know what to do,” you said, burying your face in your hands. So much had happened in the past semester that you felt your strength fading. You felt weak.
A long time passed by. Your bear arms reacted fiercely to the cheering wind. You lifted your head and there in that moment you froze. Kris stood a few feet away staring at you. How long had he been there – you had no idea. He moved an inch towards you but then you felt his body stiffen.
You quickly wiped your tears still in your heart hoping he would stop you. He didn’t. You had stopped complaining too. There was no use getting mad at yourself or whoever wrote your faith because if it was not meant to be than it would never happen. What made you mad was the fact that he randomly acted like he knew you and the next second he acted like he didn’t. He played with your heart all the time. You had spent two months trying to forget about him and now he had brought you back to day 1. You hated his mysterious side…
******************************************************
Present day:
The room fell silent when someone announced the arrival of the bride. “She’s coming, she’s coming…” they said. You stopped playing the piano also bringing yourself back to reality. Up till then you had done a great job of hiding your face from the groom. You were not scared of his reaction. You were just afraid of making eye contact with him because just not looking at him hurt so much so you could only imagine how you would feel if something happened otherwise.
The door opened once again. That was your queue. You began playing the piano once again. The bride was beyond beautiful. Her face, her body, her eyes, her smile… they were all a definition of perfection. You looked at her and then glanced at Kris from the corner of your eyes. The couple hadn’t taken their eyes off of each other for once. They both looked so madly in love. You had moved on in life but there was still a part of you that was hurting. It came naturally. You were not jealous of the bride. You didn’t hate him either but …but that feeling was still there. You hated it.
The wedding ceremony passed by fairly slowly. You looked at the clock. Only five more minutes before you could leave that place forever. Those five minutes were taking forever. People started to get up. Words of congratulations were being thrown around. People were clapping, dancing and cheering. They all looked so happy. You got up, fixed the wrinkles on your plain dress, tucked your hair back and began to walk out.
.
.
“Excuse me!” you heard someone say from behind. You were not sure if that person was talking to you but nevertheless you stopped.
“You play the piano really well,” he said. Now you knew he was talking to you. You turned around enthusiastically but froze the second you saw his face and he yours. His mouth dropped for a slipt of a second but he quickly stabilized himself.
“Thank…Thank you …very much!” he said with a bright but forced smile. You, who still had not recovered from his sudden appearance stood there frozen. He looked at you and you at him.
“Make yourself comfortable!” you heard him say and then he left. That’s it. That is all he said. You spent all this time trying to hide yourself when he didn’t even remember you. He had done it again. But this time you were glad. Now you would never have to worry, thinking about him. He belonged to someone else.
With that, you slowly made your way out of the church.
*****************************************************
.
He stood near the window watching you leave. All he ever wished for was to apologize for that day and tell you that he did care. He was just too scared…

So here it is you guys. I feel like people who have been in a situation like this would be better able to relate to this scenario.
I hope you guys like it :)

Kris nuzzled on to your neck. He could feel your hands shaking, as you hid them under the small covers. He looked over at the side of your face. Your eyes were fixed on the TV screen and fear was written clearly on your face. He slid his hand down your arm, which you grabbed greedily to hold on to.
“If you’re scared we can stop watching this,” he mumbled as he planted a kiss on your neck.
“Scared? What? No no I’m fine,” you said in a hushed tone. He smiled at your failed attempt to convince him that you were not scared.
“You clearly are,” he said pushing you from on top of him. You turned around to face him. A mischievous smile took his lips.
“What?” you asked, hitting him on his chest lightly. He shook his head, still smiling and then held your hands.
“I love you, you know that right?” he said, and kissed your hands. You nodded back with a shy smile. Kris was being weird again but nevertheless, you liked he when he occasionally told you that he loved you.
****************************************************
That night, it had begun to thunderstorm outside. Your weak heart was panicking, thinking about where Kris could be. He had left, after watching the movie saying he had to meet the boys. He usually did that but he never came back this late. It was almost past midnight. You looked at your phone in frustration. There was no point calling him. He hadn’t answered your past five calls or tons of messages.
Suddenly, the screen began flashing. He was finally calling you. You picked up the phone and just when you began to yell, a distant and weak voice cut you. “________! I’m sorry,” Kris said.
“Kris!” you whispered his name. “Are you okay?”
“Aaaaaaahhh,” he cried and then there was complete silence. You heart sank. The hair on your body rose.
“Kris! Krissss… oppaa are you okay???” you asked again and again. There was no response except the faint beeping. You rushed to your window and slid the curtains to the side. The only visible light was the small street lamp in the far corner. Nothing could be seen except the heavy rain creating ripples in the small puddles.
“Oppaaaa!” you whimpered. Tears rolled down your cheeks, quite similar to the raindrops racing down the windowpane.
You began looking for your shoes and an umbrella. You had to go find him. Right when you were about to leave your room you heard your front door open and then shut tightly.
“Oppa!” you said happily and began to rush out. There was no response. As soon as you stepped into the hallway the lights went out. “Oppa!” you said- but this time a lot more scared then the first time. You could hear footsteps and the faint sound of a dripping raincoat. Kris didn’t own a raincoat. You began to take steps back into your room. You grabbed the first thing you saw and ran into a corner.
The man in the coat walked into the room. You were curled up beside the night stand. He couldn’t see you. He moved his head from side to side, as if trying to sniff the air for a human’s presence. His behavior was very animal like- just like the murderer from the movie.
You held onto the fragile object, drinking your own tears as they gushed out of your eyes. Whoever this man was, was surely there to kill you. And that call you just received? Nothing made sense. You were worried about Kris and you were also worried about your own life.
The man began walking towards the side of the bed, closest to you. You scrunched your legs even more but you knew it wasn’t going to help. Another step, and he would be able to see you clearly. You closed your eyes and rested your head against your knee. The footsteps grew closer. He had seen you. His pace became faster.
“Aaa,” you let out a scream when he held you and pulled you up viciously. His grip was firm. It tightened even more as he brought you closer to himself. You could feel his warm breath on your face. Your eyes were tightly shut.
“Krisss,” you whispered one last time before that monster could kill you. Just then you heard a cheerful laugh. The grip loosened and the person pushed you back. The laugh was awfully similar. You opened your eyes and looked up. Kris was standing before you, laughing hysterically at your scared face.
“Oppa???” you gasped in shock.
“Got you,” he said clapping and jumping. As you slowly gained your senses your fear turned into anger. You pushed him angrily and began to walk away. He had gone too far this time. But he held you and pulled you back. “Why are you mad? I thought you weren’t scared of anything?” he asked.
“Are you stupid?” you asked in return and also smacked his forehead lightly. “You nearly killed me. …And what was that whole phone call thing? I was so worried about you. …” Tears were still rolling down your cheeks. “I hate you so much Kris,” you said. He pressed your face against his chest so you could cry all you want to. You held on to him so tightly, that he had trouble breathing. “I hate you, I hate you, I hate you.” You repeated.
“I’m sorry,” you heard him say.
“Yeah! You better be,” you mumbled.
“But you have to admit, it was pretty cool right? And and.. did you see how the lights went out.”
“How did you do that?” you asked.
“I don’t know. I was quite surprised myself but it helped me even more,” he shrugged his shoulders. Just then, both you and him jumped at the piercing sound of thunder. That was soon followed by lots of laughter.

This one is pretty short too but hey I actually wrote two scenarios this week. Give me some credit. [ I promise it’ll get better once I get done with this semester. I hope ya’ll like this :)
I can totally imagine Kris being a troll but extremely sweet at the same time.

A shudder ran through your body when your hand touched his. You turned to look who it was. ‘Oh it’s him’- the tall dark haired guy who had just returned from China; that’s all you knew about him. When you first started working with Exo, for last minute additions to their upcoming album, Kris wasn’t there. You were a little more than surprised when you found out that he was a part of the group too and as a matter of fact, the leader of the Exo M. The first encounter with him was more uncomfortable than you had expected. Instead of greeting you politely, he presented himself with a strange expression planted on his face. He neither said a word, nor moved a single muscle in his body. All he did, was to stare at you, with such intensity that you started to feel insecure.
“Sorry,” he mumbled while stopping for less than a second. You rubbed your hand where your skin had made contact with his. You didn’t like the tingles it felt.
“You’re fine,” you replied to the empty room. He had left faster than you could even utter the first letter of your phrase.
*************************************************
You stood outside the in the small balcony that opened to the front of the building. All the fan girls had left a long time ago. The area was empty and quite. The dark sky was slowly turning a lighter shade of violet. You heard the door slide behind you and someone entering the small space. You scoot to the side to let them stand next to you.
“Are you tired?” he asked. Your ears perked at the familiar voice but you didn’t dare move your head. You saw his side profile from the corner of your eyes. He was tall, much taller than you.
“No,” you replied in a barely audible voice. The air seemed to be getting heavier around you two. Both of stood in deep silence admiring the bluish streaks in the sky. It was so beautiful that you felt your hair raising. “Aren’t you tired?” you asked him.
You heard him chuckle a little as he turned to face you. You were unsure of what to do. It scared you to look at him. He was too intimidating and what your heart felt when he gazed at you was beyond describable. You stood firm in your position while he looked at you in awe. “I’m not tired…I’m just worried…a little,” he said.
“Worried?” you looked at him in surprise. The dark circles under his eyes over shadowed his bright but tired smile.
“When they said last minute changes, I had no idea they wanted me to sing a ballad,” he covered his eyes with his hands. Your tensed muscles began to relax. “Do I look like a ballad singer to you? I don’t understand why they’re making me do this?”
“That’s your worry?” you asked, trying your best to sound comforting. He nodded finally taking his hands off of his face. “You will be fine,” you smiled encouragingly but avoiding his eyes. “I’ll help you. Don’t worry about it okay?” He nodded again but he was still unsure about everything.
********************************************
Three days later:
You stood in the studio waiting for Luhan, Chen and Kris to show up. In the few weeks you had been working with them, they had never been late. This was the first time. You assumed it would be because of Kris. He was really unsure about the whole situation.
“Sorry, we’re late,” Luhan said as he hurriedly entered the room. Kris and Chen followed close behind.
“What happened?” you asked.
“Kris hyung was having issues,” Chen said comically. You smiled at his attempt to lighten the mood.
“Alright, so let’s get started,” you said pushing the boys into the recoding room. Everybody took their positions and settled down. Music started, and the boys began singing.
After quite a few attempts Kris finally got his notes right. He looked over at you nervously, ashamed of his singing abilities. You smiled back calmly to tell him he was not doing bad at all.
“Let’s take five,” you announced, taking your headphones off and adjusting the buttons on the equipment. Chen and Luhan ran for the door as if getting released from the prison. Kris however stayed behind. You looked at him through the glass window. His head was bent down. You knew he was waiting for you to enter the recording room.
“Kris, go take a break,” you said from the door. He stood up and walked over to you.
“I have to tell you something,” he said.
“Hmm,” you asked raising your eyebrows questiongly. He lifted his hands, unsure to whether to hold your hands or put his on your shoulder. He did neither.
“I … I like you,” he said. The strange expression on your face turned into a smile. Your ears blushed a light pink and your heart raced a little faster than it normally did. You were not surprised at all about his confession. In fact you were flattered. He was intimidating, no doubt about that but he was also gorgeous and perfect and amazing. Having a guy like him utter those words to you was unimaginable.
“A..are you sure?” you asked. You secretly cursed yourself for being so silly and asking such a stupid question. You felt him take a sigh of relief. He chuckled nervously at how adorably silly you sounded.
“I’m sure,” he replied. You looked up and into his eyes. You weren’t scared anymore, because they were twinkling this time.

[Made slight changes towards the end]
“Where’s my GeGe?” you yelled as you entered the room. Kris turned around and glanced at you for a brief second before indulging himself back into his work.
“He clearly isn’t here,” he mumbled.
“What’s up with you?” you asked proceeding towards him.
“Nothing. Let me work,” he said.
“Well you know I can’t let you do that,” you pushed him lightly, making yourself comfortable next to him. “What are you working on?”
“Lyrics.”
“Need my help?”
“Your help?” he asked raising his eyebrows.
“Yeah what’s wrong with that?”
Kris looked up at you and then just like usual just stared at you. You never understood what that meant. Every time he looked at you, he would look for a good minute. It would seem like he wanted to say something but he would never say it.
“Krisss,” you snapped your finger into his face. He shook his head and looked away.
“Why do you always do that?” you punched him lightly.
“Weren’t you looking for your brother?” he asked.
“Why do you ignore my questions?” you pouted.
“Stop using your aegyo. It won’t work on me,” he said and pretended to write.
“Where is everybody else?” you asked.
“Luhan and Xiumin are out for some coffee. Lay is sick and Tao is with his girl friend.”
“What?” You began laughing.
“Seriously _______ you need to get yourself checked. Why are you laughing like that?”
“Hold.. on..” you said taking little pauses between your undying laughter. “Woaahh…. Okay! So Tao and his girlfriend. They really are serious?”
“Aaa yeah,” he replied with a sarcastic expression.
“Woaaa to be honest,” you leaned in closer to him, “I didn’t think they were going to last more than a month but I guess they’re doing pretty good.”
“You’re so pessimistic _________,” he shook his head.
“No I’m not. I’m just being realistic,” you rocked your body back and forth holding on to your crossed legs. You looked like a little kid. Kris, although amused by you kept his focus on the lyrics. “I don’t understand why you guys take these relationships so seriously?” you tried to tease him. You knew he would have an argument to raise and arguments you loved. Especially with Kris.
“I don’t understand why you don’t,” he said giving up on his writing and putting the notebook to his side. All of his attention was focused on you. You knew you had trapped him.
“Because I believe women should be independent.”
“That makes no sense.”
“To you it doesn’t because you’re a guy. Have you ever asked a girl how she feels in a relationship? They are always bound to fulfill the guys’ wishes. I personally think its unfair.” You waved your hand in the air and lifted your head up high.
“But if you will never be in a relationship how will you move on to the next step of life?”
“Steps of life?” you scoffed. “Steps that are set by this society. We don’t need that. We don’t have to find the perfect guy or get married. At least I know I don’t. I have a long life to live and I can’t just bind myself to one guy. I have to explore. I want to be independent. I want to be able to do whatever I want to.”
“You can do all this while being in a relationship too.”
“Really Kris? Really?”
“Yes really. I don’t understand why you don’t believe that?” he asked. He seemed a little frustrated. He wanted to get his point across but you in no way were going to let him win.
“Because I know they are all fake. Nothing lasts forever.” You replied.
“Love does.”
“Oh Please Kris.,” you rolled your eyes.
“Have you ever tried falling in love?”
“Have you?” you asked.
He began to say the words he had been wanting to say for almost a year but something held him back.
“Exactly,” you nodded your head feeling like a victor. You had left him speechless.
“Exactly what?” he asked.
“Kris,” you leaned in closer to him and put your hand on his shoulder. “You should really find someone for yourself. It’s about time. Look at Tao. He is the youngest and even he is ahead of you.”
He didn’t have anything to say but to smile at you. You got up and messed his hair like your usual tradition before walking out the room. The smile on his face hadn’t disappeared. It was still there. In fact every time he thought about you, the same smile embraced his lips. He was madly in love with you while you on the other hand lived in a world of your own.
*******************************************************
“Aaigoo,” Kris mumbled as the thoughts of you occupied his head once again. He grabbed a cushion and pulled it over his head. He kept pressing it until he had trouble breathing and finally had to take it off. He got out of bed and shook his head but what about his heart. It still ached for you. He often questioned himself as to why he was madly in love with someone who acted nothing like girl. Who didn’t know how to dress properly. Who didn’t believe in love. And who would never ever realize how crazy he was about her.
You had somehow taken over his heart without him knowing. It wasn’t love at first sight. In fact the first time he saw you, he was rather disgusted by your mud laden shirt. You had just finished playing soccer with the guys before your Gege introduced you to the EXO M members. After that you hung out with them quiet often. There were times you showed them your girly side but that wasn’t enough for a sane guy to fall for you. Somehow Kris’s heart had managed to deceive him and day by day his feelings for you grew. He wanted to tell you how he felt but he knew you thought of him just as a friend. And then earlier that day you made it pretty clear to him that you were not looking for any sort of a relationship.
“I can’t do this,” he sighed. Just then Tao walked in.
“Are you talking to yourself again?” he asked turning on the lights in the room.
“What? … no,” Kris shook his head.
“The guys are planning to go to the club. Wanna join?”
“No I’m good here.”
“Oh come on. It’ll be fun. At least you’ll talk to other people over there instead of talking to yourself.” Tao grabbed Kris’ arm and pushed him into the bathroom.
*************************************************
The club always got the guys hyped up. Luhan and Xiumin jumped into the pool of girls while Tao and his girlfriend occupied a small corner to themselves. Kris stood by Lay and just moved his head from side to side. He wasn’t in the mood to dance that night.
“You didn’t have to come. You’re still not healthy to be out yet.”
“I’m fine. I needed to get some…,” Lay stopped halfway.
“What?” Kris turned to look at him. Lay lifted his hand to rub his eyes.
“What?” Kris asked again.
“Is that __________?” Lay asked pointing to you in the midst of the crowd. “I must be dreaming because it sure looks like she…”
“Is wearing a dress,” Kris completed for him. His jaw dropped at the sight of you dancing rather provocatively with a stranger. At least he thought it was a stranger.
“I don’t believe this,” Lay exclaimed shaking his head.
“I don’t either,” Kris said with a slight hint of anger. He wanted to confront you and so he began walking in your direction but Lay held his hand.
“Where are you going?” he asked.
“To talk to __________.”
“And ask her what?”
“And ask her why she is here.”
“Kris. Are you stupid? This is a club. She can be here whenever she wants to.”
“But not like this,” Kris shrugged his hand out of Lay’s grip and lunged towards you. He had a lot of things that you needed to clear up for him.
“Oh hi Kris” you said, a little bit surprised at his sudden appearance.
“Come with me!,” he said and without a warning grabbed your wrist.
“What are you doing?” you asked as he dragged you out of the club. He was too furious to reply to any of your questions. He stopped in a small, silent corner of the street.
“What’s going on _______?” he asked.
“What do you mean what’s going on? I was having fun at the club and you dragged me out of there. I think you should be answering that question.”
“You’re such a hypocrite,” Kris yelled in anger.
“Hypocrite?” you repeated in bewilderment.
“Yes hypocrite. Didn’t you say earlier today that you didn’t like doing all these things? You wanted to be independent. Then what is all this? Were you lying to me ___________? Is this how you treat people who care about you?”
“You’re hurting me,” you mumbled. Kris didn’t realize when he had held your hand again but he was holding it really tightly, to the point that your blood circulation was about to stop. He released it with a slight hint of guilt but his anger soon replaced it.
“I don’t understand you Kris. I was just having fun. I am allowed to have fun am I not?” you asked, a little bit hurt by his harsh choice of words.
“Fun? Is this your definition of fun? Dancing so close to guys you don’t even know? If you don’t like relationships why would you do such things?” He yelled.
“Why does it matter to you? I can do whatever I want to!,” you yelled back.
“No you can’t,” he pinned you against the wall. “You can’t do whatever you want to.”
“Why can’t I?”
“Because..,” he stopped and just like always scanned your face with his eyes.
“What is it with you? I am tired of this. If you want to say something why don’t you say it?”
“I can’t,” he said, pulling himself away from you.
“Why can’t you?”
“Because there is no use.”
“You have to tell me today,” you said pulling him around to face you.
“You really don’t get it do you?”
You didn’t know how to respond to his question but you were curious to what he had to say.
“I’m in love with you, you …,” he smacked his forehead. His words felt like a glass shatter, breaking the silence in the room. You couldn’t believe your ears. Could it really be true? He had left you in such an awkward position that you didn’t know what to say. You had tried to run away from love all your life and now the one person who you considered to be such a good friend was dragging you right into it. You knew you weren’t the right girl for him. All you were going to do was hurt him. You could never give him what he wanted. He deserved much better than you. He deserved someone who actually believed in love. Someone who was ready to be in a relationship and you were far from that.
“When..?” you shook your head. Tears began forming your eyes as the thought of loosing him started threatening you. “What.. do you mean? I don’t get this Kris.” Your questions made no sense.
“This is not how I wanted to tell you.”
“Are you stupid?,“ you suddenly snapped. "Why would you say that? Why would you ruin our friendship like this?” you asked while crying.
“_______ I didn’t think it would….,” he sighed. “I am so sorry.”
“No..,” you whispered, shaking your head. Kris took a step towards you and you took one back.
“Don’t,” you lifted your hand to stop him.
“________, please listen to me,” he said.
“No!,” you cried and before he could do anything you began running away. All he could do was call after you but even he had lost all hope. That was not how he wanted to tell you about his feelings. He had scared you away forever. The little chance of you and him being together were gone forever.
Kris lifted his hand and clenched his heart tightly. He knew that it would never stop aching. He would have to learn to live with it forever…

“_________ah, clean your room.” Your mother yelled from the living room.
“I’m cleaning it,” you yelled back without taking your eyes off of the computer screen.
“Are you watching anime again?” she asked.
“Aniyo,” you replied with irritation. You began watching your anime hero kill the bad guys once again. “So beautiful,” you mumbled to yourself. Just then a cold breeze touched your arms. You looked at the open window and cringed your nose. You were too lazy to get up and close it. The best scene was on. The contractor [bad guy] ripped the hero’s shirt apart.
“Aaaaiiii,” you squealed. Just then another wave of chilly wind touched your arms. You sighed and paused the video. Walking to the window, all you could think about was him. As you were pulling it down, your eyes fell on your hero standing in the apartment across from you. He was shirtless, looking for something, running around the room.
“Huhhh!!,” you gasped and rubbed your eyes. ‘How could he be real? He’s an anime character? Am I seeing things?’ You asked yourself. You were really confused as to what was going on. The guy suddenly looked up at you. He glared at you for staring at him. It took you a minute to realize how stupid you looked. You quickly hid behind the curtains and bit your lip.
“Oh Gosh, that’s a real human not an anime character,” you mumbled, tucking your hair behind your ear. Your ears turned red with embarrassment. You slightly poked your head through the curtains, only to find him still looking at your window. You moved back again.
“Ummaaa,” you called out running to the living room. “When did we get new neighbors?”
“They moved in a week ago. You would know, if you knew life existed outside of your little viral world.”
“Aaaaann,” you pouted.
“Okay okay, now go clean up,” she instructed.
***********************************************
“Class we have a new student coming in today,” your teacher announced. The silence in the room was replaced by whispers and muffled voices. Even you thought to yourself, as to who would join school in the middle of the semester. You were stunned as the new student walked in class. It was that same guy you’d seen in the window across from yours. It was that same guy who you thought was an anime character and it was that same guy you had wished to never see again. He looked around the class. His eyes met yours for a brief second but you quickly looked away.
“Hi, my name is Kris,” he said waving his hand. Every single girl [except you] in the room gasped. His features, his body, his skin, everything was perfect. You weren’t the only one who thought he was flawless and almost unreal. Kris went and sat in an empty seat in the corner. You turned around to look at him for a quick second. Once again your eyes met his. Your ears turned red when he smirked at you. You frowned and turned around, hoping he wouldn’t tell anyone about what had happened a few days back.
Your eyes were fixed on the clock. As soon as the bell rang, you sprang out of your chair and ran for the door.
“Hey wait,” a voice from behind you said.
You turned around and of course, it was Kris. He caught up to you. “Hey!,” he said once again.
“Hey,” you mumbled back clenching your book to your chest.
“I’m new here. You wanna help me around?” he asked.
“Ummm I’m a little busy,” you said hurriedly and ran away.
You knew well that Kris had gotten the wrong idea but you just couldn’t talk to him. He made you nervous. You couldn’t even look him straight in the eyes.
*********************************************
A week had passed away and you’d only hated your Biology class more. Every time Kris entered the room, your heart began racing. You weren’t even sure if you liked him or your anime hero. Kris hadn’t tried talking to you ever since you’d scared him away with your silliness. He didn’t even make eye contact with you. You secretly regretted it but then you suppressed the feeling, thinking it was for the best.
You shuffled in bed from side to side not being able to sleep. This empty feeling, inside of you was bothering you. You sighed and got out of bed to get dressed. There was one thing you loved doing on cold winter nights; playing basketball, to get your mind off of things. You tip toed out of the apartment and went down stairs. You could hear dribbling of a basket ball from the distance. ‘Who could be silly enough to be playing at this time of the night..?’ you thought to yourself.
“What are you doing here?” the guy in the court asked you as you approached him.
“I want to play too,” you said.
“Do you know how to play?” he asked.
“Of course,” you mumbled. He took a step forward to reveal his face in the light.
“Oh Gosh,” you gasped seeing Kris stand before you.
“Why do you always do that when you see me?” he asked making a face.
“What?” you asked looking from here to there in nervousness.
“That,” he said squinting his eyes. “I’m not that scary you know.”
“It’s not that.”
“Then what is it?”
“I’m embarrassed.”
“Of what?”
“The other day.”
“The other day? The one in school or the one when you stared at me through your window?” he asked with an amused expression.
“See! This is what I’m talking about,” you pouted and turned around to leave.
“Wait,” he pulled you back. “Why were you looking at me?”
“Because you..,” you began but stopped. If you told him, you thought he looked like an anime character, he’d laugh at you and then never talk to you.
“Nothing,” you mumbled.
“Tell me,” he insisted.
“Aniyo,” you shook you head and snatched the ball from him.
“Oh no you didn’t,” he said coming after you. And so began the game between you and him.
“You know lots of girls in school tell me that I look like an anime character from this series.” Kris said trying to get the ball from you.
“Really? How stupid,” you said making a basket.
“I know right,” he said and clapped for you. You were glad you didn’t tell him.
******************************************************
“At least, drink your milk,” your mother called after you. You were running late.
“I don’t have time,” you said and closed the door behind you. Kris closed the door to his apartment at the same time. Both you and him gave each other a smile.
“Hey _________,” he called you.
“Ye,” you turned around.
“Want me to give you a ride?” he asked.
“Sure,” you replied with a faint smile, thinking about all the girls at school who would be so jealous seeing you with him.
‘This is a good start’ - both you and Kris thought and smiled to yourself.

Okay Kris does look like a Manga/Anime character *handsdown*
The long awaited part 2. I hope you guys like it :) *fingercrossed*
“You seem so lost today? What happened? You weren’t like this before we went downtown this morning?” Eunsun asked Kris.
He didn’t respond. He stared into blank space thinking about what he had seen earlier at the bubble tea shop. He thought he had completely gotten over you but seeing you with your son made him jealous and a little angry. The last four years hadn’t been any pleasant for him. He’d been in two relationships and none of them had worked out. How could you be so happy in your life while he was so miserable? He wanted to confront you and demand answers for all the questions he had.
“Oppaaa!” Eunsun shook him.
“Huh!” he pulled his head out of his deep thoughts and looked at her. She pouted and shifted in bed.
“What?” he said in a sort of irritating tone.
“Nothing!” she mumbled.
“Fine!” he said giving up without even trying. That was his problem and he still hadn’t realized it.
Painful memories from the past started registering in his head again. He remembered how he would nag you about everything and you never yelled back. You apologized even when it wasn’t your fault. He took your niceness as your weakness.
“Eunsun ah, I’m sorry,” he mumbled realizing that he had messed up three relationships he certainly didn’t want that to happen again.
“Whatever,” she replied making it clear that she was still angry.
Kris sighed and closed his eyes. He still had a lot on his mind and he needed to clear all of that first.
**********************************************************
A month later..
Kris jogged down an unfamiliar path. He decided to take a different route that day because he felt like he needed a change. The weather was chilly but he didn’t stop for once.
Going downhill, a familiar image captured his gaze. It was you and your son. You were walking him to school. After recovering from stumbling he began to follow you.
You stopped in front of a small building a while later. “Finish your lunch today or I won’t give you any from tomorrow,” you warned Eunsuk before giving him a kiss on the cheek.
“But everybody’s Umma’s gives them chips and biscuits and you always give me bread and eggs. Other kids make fun of me,” he pouted.
“Well, then they won’t be healthy like my little Eunsuk,” you ran your fingers through his hair and forced an encouraging smile on your face. “Now smile!”
A faint smile appeared on his face and he hurried inside the school. You sighed and got up to return but bumped into someone.
“Oh I’m so sorry,” you apologized, tucking your hair behind your ear. You looked up only to find Kris standing in front of you. This was the first time you’d seen him in four years. You’d never prepared yourself, as to what you would do if you ever saw him. Your heart sank to your stomach and you immediately looked away. You began to walk but he blocked you.
“I need to talk!” he said with a stern voice.
“I don’t have time,” you replied without making eye contact. You began to walk once again but he followed close behind.
“Go away Kris,” you warned.
“No!” he said pulling you into a small alley.
“What are you doing? People are watching!”
“Nobody is watching,” he said slamming his palm on the wall behind you. The fear you had of him four years ago started coming back.
“You left me without giving a warning and now you’re enjoying a happy life with someone else! ” he said grinding his teeth. “Those divorce papers, they..” he stopped and looked away. After a while he looked back at you.“How dare you? Do you know what I think? I think everything in that letter was a lie. Maybe you were cheating on me? Maybe you were carrying someone else’s child and so ..”
“Shut up Kris, just shut up!” you cut him short and pushed him. The anger that you’d kept inside of you for so long was finally coming out. He was accusing you of cheating on him when all you had done was to leave him for his happiness.
He advanced towards you but you stopped him.
“Stop it!” you glared. He glared back, his eyes burning with rage. A tear rolled out of your eyes but you wiped it immediately. You shook your head in disappointment and began to walk.
You stopped at the corner of the alley. The voice inside was poking you. You wanted him to know the truth. It was high time you told him but was that really going to change anything? Nevertheless, you went along with your heart.
“I never remarried,” you mumbled and began to walk again. Kris looked up immediately, his eyes wide open with surprise. Your words didn’t quite make sense to him.
“Never remarried?” he mumbled in confusion. Then something hit him. He began to recall the walk in the park before you left him…
Flashback:
“Doesn’t that couple look cute?” you asked.
“Ye,” he replied
“What do you think about having a baby?” you asked.
“Aish, too much responsibility. I think if we should have a baby it should at least be 2 to 3 years from now. We shouldn’t rush with everything.”
His mouth fell half open. It just dawned on him that you were trying to tell him that you were pregnant with his child. He lifted his hands and buried his face in them. ‘That child is my baby’ he thought as a tear rolled out of his eyes. He looked back up at your fading image in the fog. You were gone and once again you’d left him devastated and confused. He regretted yelling at you and accusing you. How were you ever going to forgive him now?
********************************************************
Kris paced back and forth in his room. He had to figure out a way to find you. There were still unanswered questions in his head. He was happy to find out that there was a living part of him in this world but deep down he was scared. Scared of what? He had no idea.
‘I should demand custody of my child. No, no! She will never agree. She has every right over our child. I was the irresponsible one. I pushed her away. But then again, she should have told me. I would have thought of something. I wasn’t just going to leave her. So should I go talk to her? Will she let me see him? Will she tell him that I’m his father? ……..More importantly will she take me back?’
“What’s wrong now?” Eunsun asked entering the room. Kris was still moving back and forth with wrinkles on his forehead.
“Not now! Eunsun!” he showed her the hand.
“What? I just asked you what was wrong. Stop yelling at me.”
“I’m not yelling at you.”
“Yes you clearly are.” She lifted her hands in frustration. “You know what I’m done with this.”
“Done with what?” Kris asked as she picked up her bag and shoes.
“I’m leaving.”
“What do you mean you’re leaving?” he grabbed her wrist.
She leaned in,” I’m done with you.” Kris’s hand slid away and before he could stop her, Eunsun was gone.
************************************************************
You were running a little late. You had just gotten home from work and it was already time to pick up Eunsuk. You heard a faint knock on the door.
“Hold on! I’m coming.” You said running towards the door while trying to wear your shoes. As the door opened, opposite you stood Kris and your son. Your eyes widened with shock but was quickly replaced by anger.
“What are you doing here?” you asked Kris.
“Umma, he told me he is my dad. Is that true?” your son asked innocently while licking his ice cream.
“Eunsuk, go to your room!” you said sternly. He looked at you with his big eyes not understanding what was happening. You took his hand out of Kris’s and began to walk him.
“_________ listen to me.”
“Please go away Kris,” you said as calmly as possible. The last thing you wanted to do was to fight in front of Eunsuk.
Kris followed you to Eunsuk’s room.
“Stay here!” you instructed your son and closed his door. Kris followed you back to the living room.
“What?” you snapped turning around. “Why are you here?”
He knew he dare not say that he wanted you back because that was just going to make you more angry. In fact he himself was confused as to what he wanted at the moment.
“I wanted to see my son,” he replied after a while.
“Meet your son!” you raised your eyebrows.
“Yes, my son! The son you never bothered telling me about. I have every right over him and you can’t keep him away from me like this.”
“Oh go away please!” you snickered. Kris tried to calm himself. He knew that yelling at each other was not going to help.
“_________,” he said softly. “Why did you never tell me? Why didn’t you tell me about him?”
“Would that have changed anything?” you questioned.
“Yes, it would have. It would have changed everything.”
“How?…Are you telling me that you would have taken responsibility for him?”
“Yes! He is my son. Of course I would have.”
“Really? Do you ever realize how you behaved back then? And frankly speaking I don’t see any difference even now.”
“How do you know I wouldn’t have? No matter what, you can’t deny the fact that I loved you. I was going to take care of him and you.”
“Loved me?” you leaned in closer to him. “If you loved me you would have come looking for me.” You began to cry. “Did you, even try for once?”
He didn’t know what to say. In fact he asked himself the same question. Why didn’t he look for you?
“Just leave it Kris. What’s happened has happened. I’ve moved on and I am sure you have too… so why don’t we…”
“I never signed the divorce papers,” he cut you short, leaving you in a shock.
“Huhhhh,” you gasped.
“I had hope!” he said with a crying face. For a second you saw in him the Kris that you’d met for the first time. The Kris who loved you deeply.
Your expressions softened. “Please come back to me. Let’s be a family again.” He said holding your hand. “I’ll make it right this time. I won’t ever hurt you again. I’ll make it work for us. Give me another chance.”
You kept shaking your head as more tears rolled out of your eyes.
“I want to be with you and with my son. The past years have not been easy for me. If you say that I didn’t think about you for once that would be wrong. Because I did think about you. Had I known I had a son with you, I would have come running, after for you.”
You looked up at him and gently slid your hand out of his grip. “That’s the problem. You would have come looking for me if you knew you had a son otherwise you would never be standing in this living room today.”
You’d left him speechless. He didn’t know what to say anymore. The tiny tinge of hope that he’d had was also gone now. He stood before you with his eyes fixed towards the floor.
“Please, just leave! Eunsuk and I are perfectly happy in our lives,” you said. You knew that was a lie. You were miserable. You needed someone but the truth was, you’d never stopped loving Kris. You couldn’t move on because all those years you had hope. And now that he was standing in front of you, you were throwing it all away once again. Kris began to walk out of the apartment. You collapsed on the ground and buried your face into your hands. You wanted to cry for the rest of the night.
“Umma,” Eunsuk placed his hand on your shoulder. You had no idea when he’d left his room. You looked up at him. He lifted his tiny hands to wipe the tears out of your eyes. He looked like he was about to cry too. “Is he not my appa?” he asked you as a tear rolled out of his eyes and fell on your hands. You felt like somebody sucked all the energy out of you. His words shot straight through your heart. ‘How can I be so selfish? I didn’t even think about Eunsuk and his future,’ you thought to yourself.
“I am so sorry,” you said and embraced him. “I’m so so sorry.” The sound of you and him crying, filled the silent room. You began to hate yourself for what you’d done and you knew you couldn’t forgive yourself for that. Eunsuk meant everything to you then why did you not think about?
“Don’t cry!” you stroked his head. “Everything will be fine.”
You consoled him but there was nobody to console you. The emptiness inside you, was howling like a rage monster. Moments passed away and both you and Eunsuk continued to cry in each other’s arms. His was too young for all of this. He had no idea what was going on. All he knew was that his mother was crying.
You felt a pair of hands on your shoulders. You pulled away from Eunsuk and turned around. Kris was right behind you, his eyes red and puffy. He’d never left. He’d been standing at the door watching you break down.
Right away he pulled both you and Eunsuk into a hug.
“Please ________!” he whispered into your ear. You felt so weak and tired. The battle you’d been fighting with yourself was finally over. You’d given up. He’d won once again but maybe this time it was victory for both of you. You rested your head against his chest and closed your eyes. Kris kissed Eunsuk and then you, wiping your tears away.
He was going to start over and this time he was going to make it right…

Both you and Kris burst into the apartment half drunk.
“You should never drink on your own wedding,” Kris said as he stumbled.
You hit him on his shoulder. “You tricked me into drinking.“
He grabbed your hand and pulled you closer. “You’ll pay for this Oppa,” you said, squinting your eyes.
“Oh yeah? How so?” he said sliding his hands around your waist. You pulled away and began to run but he grabbed you once again and picked you up this time.
“Aish, what are you doing? Put me down!” you asked childishly.
“Aneyo,” he shook his head and walked towards the room. “Welcome to our room,” Kris announced. A smile spread on your face. He brought his face closer to yours and gave you a light peck on the lips. The next second, you found yourself in bed with Kris on top of you.
“I’ve waited long enough for this,” he whispered sliding the strap of your wedding dress off of your shoulders.
*******************************************************************
You found yourself tightly wrapped in Kris’s arms the next morning.
“Oppa,” you whispered but he didn’t respond. You carefully slid out of bed and walked to the kitchen. You were familiar with most of the things in the house but it was still new to you. You didn’t live with him before you got married but you visited occasionally. You’d known Kris for three years. Two as a friend and then one year as his girl friend. He had finally proposed 3 months back. Everything happened so quickly that you were still trying to sink in most of it.
“Last night was amazing,” Kris said suddenly appearing from behind and holding you.
“Huh!” you jumped but calmed yourself immediately. You were smiling. He turned you around to face him.
“You’re still blushing after last night?” he asked with his classic sexy smile. You couldn’t look him in the eyes. His presence still made you nervous.
“Are you happy?” he asked. You looked at him, as if trying to tell him that of course you were happy. Was there a reason to not be? He understood you and leaned in to kiss you.
*********************************************************
“I’m just saying you could have talked a little. You just sat in the corner and stared at us,” Kris said with a slightly annoyed tone while entering the apartment.
“And I’m just saying that you could have introduced me to them. You just went on and on while I had to sit awkwardly. Besides I didn’t even know them or what they were talking about.”
“Oh yeah, well now they think you lack confidence.”
“So?”
“So, I don’t want people to think my wife is like that,” Kris said angrily this time.
“Okay calm down Kris. What’s the big deal?” you asked.
“It is a big deal! You do this every time we meet somebody new. Why can’t you be more like the life of the party and introduce yourself and look confident?”
“Kris you know that’s not how I am.”
“Well then CHANGE!” he said glaring at you.
You didn’t want to frustrate him more therefore you just nodded your head in agreement. Four months in your marriage and you guys were already having your first argument.
“Are you still mad?” you asked him while slipping in bed. He was busy reading his book.
“Kris!” you nudged him.
“Huhmmm,” he took his eyes off his book for a second and then went back to reading it. “No!”
You took a sigh of relief and went to bed.
******************************************
You thought that argument was something you and him were going to forget about but Kris’s behavior changed completely. He would nag you about the littlest of the things. He hated your job because it wasn’t good enough. He hated the fact that you didn’t wear branded cloths. He didn’t like it when you showed up at his practices uninvited. The list went on and on. It wasn’t like you weren’t trying. You were slowly changing yourself and it was very uncomfortable but if you had to please Kris then that is what you were going to do.
“What’s this?” Kris asked after taking the first bite of his meal.
“What’s wrong?”
“Did you taste it?”
You shook your head.
“Then taste it,” he made a face. You did as he said. It was a little salty. Kris suddenly pushed the plate to the side.
“I’m tired of this ________. I really am.”
You lost your patience too this time. “Stop it Kris, Just stop it,” you said standing up.
Kris stood up too.
“Why are you always like this? Can you not see that I’m trying so hard? ..but nothing ever seems to please you.” You said with a crying voice.
“Stop being so childish!”
“I’m not being childish,” you yelled.
“_________, lower your voice.”
“No I won’t” you snapped back. You quickly realized that you shouldn’t have said that. Kris walked towards you and slapped you across the face. You were horrified. Tears were flowing like a stream. Instead of apologizing Kris turned around and left.
***************************************************
Your eyes burnt from crying for 3 hours straight. Kris still hadn’t come back. You wanted him to come back but a little part of you was scared of him.
You heard the door click open and you immediately closed your eyes. You could hear his heavy footsteps and with each one he took your heart sank a little more. He slipped in besides you and held your shoulder.
“____________ah, I’m sorry,” he said. That’s it. That’s all he could come up with after what he’d done. He forced you to turn around. He knew you weren’t sleeping. You looked at him. Not a single sign of guilt was visible on his face. He pulled you closer and kissed you on the cheek that he had slapped earlier. He didn’t just stop there. He continued towards your neck and began taking off your cloths. This was his way of apologizing to you. You weren’t the type who would state their own opinion on the table. This was your weak point and he knew that well. You submitted to his desire because once again you didn’t want to displease him.
******************************************************
“Whaaaaaaa,” you looked at the little red sign on the stick. A smile broke on your face. This was the first time you’d received happiness in the past eight months. Tears of joy rolled down your cheeks. You were sure when Kris heard the news he’d jump with excitement too.
*********************************************************
“Doesn’t that couple look cute?” you asked looking at a pregnant girl with a guy walking besides her.
“Ye,” Kris replied not really interested in the conversation.
“What do you think about having a baby?” you asked smiling secretly.
“Aish, too much responsibility.” He snickered. “I think if we should have a baby it should at least be 2 to 3 years from now. we shouldn’t rush with everything.”
Your heart sank once again. You gasped in surprise and disappointment.
“What happened?” he asked.
“Nothing,” you said shaking your head. You had no idea how you were going to tell him. You couldn’t imagine what he was going to say. Get rid of the baby? Leave you? Accept it? You had no idea.
“Kris..” you began to say but he interrupted.
“____________, why did you bring me here? It’s so chilly outside.” He shrugged his shoulders with annoyance and turned around to walk back home. He left you there, devastated. You watched him from behind. This wasn’t the Kris you had fallen in love with. Or maybe you were wrong and he was always like this but love had had made you blind. It had almost been a year in to your marriage and no matter how hard you tried to tell yourself that you were happy, you weren’t. That was the plain truth.
************************************************************
Kris came home the next day and it was quieter than usual.
“__________ ah, where are you?” but nobody was there to respond.
“_____________,” he said your name again but still no response.
He walked in the room. It was completely dark. He turned on the lights and sat on the bed. The sound of paper scrunching under him made him get up. He looked at it. It was your hand writing. He began reading:
“Dear Kris,
I love you and I always have. But I can’t live like this anymore. I’m sorry. I really am. You probably have no idea what I’m talking about but I promise I tried really hard everyday to be what you wanted me to be. I can’t live like that anymore. It’s too superficial for me. When you fell in love with me I thought you fell in love with whatever faults or qualities I had but I was wrong. It’s not your fault, it’s my fault because I fell in love with a person who wanted all of this and I can’t be like that. I’m sorry if I’ve hurt you but I don’t want to be hurt anymore either. It’s been long and painful and I just want to spare both of us. I noticed you weren’t happy with this marriage either. You were still managing it because I was your responsibility. I really do respect you for that. This decision was hard for me but I am leaving Kris! I’m leaving. I hope you find someone who will love you and be of your standards. I’m sorry if I’ve disappointed you. [I left the divorce papers in the top left drawer]
I will always love you…
________________”
A tear rolled down Kris’s cheek and fell on the letter. He didn’t see this coming but even he knew that this marriage wasn’t going anywhere. Maybe this was for the best or was it really?
********************************************************
4 years later…
Kris walked hand in hand with Eunsun down the street.
“Want some bubble tea?” he asked her.
“Of course I do,” she said waving her Parada handbag in the air.
Kris went to a nearby street store and ordered two bubble teas.
“Eunsuk stop or I won’t get you anything!” he heard a familiar voice from behind him. He turned around immediately. It was you getting angry at your little one. He felt a slight twinge in his heart. ‘Oh so she got married again..’ he wondered.
You held your son’s hand and began walking. Kris turned around to get his order.
“Mommy! Why don’t I have a daddy and everybody else does?” Eunsuk suddenly asked you. You were surprised at his sudden question. The memories of four years ago started coming back but you repressed them instantly. That is what you had been doing for so long. You, however could never forgive yourself for one thing and that was your son living without a father. A little part of you regretted not telling Kris. Maybe he would have come after you and stopped you but then you shrugged the feeling away. He wasn’t going to come. If he cared, he would have come looking for you regardless.
“Shhhh,” you glared at your son and began walking.
Kris turned around once again hoping to get a glimpse of you but you and his son were long gone and he was never going to know about it.

You looked at the door and then your watch. Kris was supposed to meet you at the coffee shop an hour earlier. The waiter came up to you twice and even he was getting frustrated. There were more people waiting in the line to be seated.
“Ma’am do you want to order something?” he asked you for the third time.
“Huh! Aaa no I’m fine,” you said sounding completely lost.
“I’m afraid we are going to have to tell you to leave then. There are a lot of people waiting in line,” he said with an apologetic face.
“Oh,” you sighed in embarrassment. “Alright, I guess I’ll just leave then,” you mumbled while getting up. Just then Kris walked in. You were happy for a second but the feeling was quickly replaced by anger. Kris walked towards you timidly. He knew you were mad since you were glaring at him.
“I’m really sorry,” he said nervously.
“It’s alright,” you said trying to calm yourself and walked right past him.
“__________, wait” he followed you out of the coffee shop. “I’m really sorry,” he said catching up to you.
“I said, it’s alright!” you said sounding even more mad this time.
“Umma didn’t let me leave. Believe me I tried.” He said once again.
“It’s the same excuse every time isn’t it?” you suddenly snapped back. Kris tried to put his hands on your shoulder but you shrugged them off. “Why don’t you just tell them? Things will be so much better if they know.”
“You know if I tell them what’s going to happen. Why would you say such a thing?”
“Because I’m tired of this Kris. I really am!”
Instead of yelling back Kris tried to calm himself. Firstly because you guys were standing in the middle of the street, secondly because he knew that it was his fault for keeping you waiting for an hour and finally because he wanted to avoid the topic you’d just started.
“Okay, how do you want me to make it up to you?” he asked rather softly. Your anger melted too a little bit. You’d seen him after so long, you didn’t want to fight either.
“I don’t know,” you sighed but frustration was still visible on your face.
“I’m in the mood for some .. BUBBLE TEA,” Kris said trying to sound excited. He knew bubble tea always cheered you up. He was right. It did work. Your mood changed. He put his arm around and the two of you walked to your favorite shop.
*****************************************
Kris stared at you with a big smile on his face as you gulped your bubble tea.
“What?” you chuckled and hit him on his hand.
“Nothing,” he said shaking his head as if embarrassed of getting caught for staring at you. He couldn’t control his smile.
“Let’s go somewhere on your birthday this year!” he said suddenly.
“Where?” you asked.
“I don’t know. Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong. Where ever you want to go.”
“Really?” you asked excitedly.
“Ye,” he nodded.
“Hong Kong!—I want to hear you speak Canto,” you winked.
“Hong Kong it is then!” Kris announced. “But it’ll have to be a short trip. Starting next month, I’ll have a lot of schedules so we can’t spend a lot of time there.”
“What are you going to tell your parents?”
“Ahh, I’ll figure something out.”
“Alright,” you nodded.
*************************************************************
You couldn’t sleep. You felt your heart sink at the sound of the thunderstorm. Your instinct was telling you that something bad was about to happen. Shuffling restlessly in bed, you tried to calm yourself. You stayed in that state for two hours then sleep started taking over you. You clenched the sheet tightly and closed your eyes.
A half hour later, you felt someone slip in the bed besides you. You weren’t afraid because this wasn’t the first time Kris had done this. He usually came to visit late at night.
“I’m so glad you came,” you mumbled. He kissed you on your neck.
“Me too,” he murmured.
You felt something wet on your bare shoulder but you didn’t take enough notice. Then slowly, you heard Kris’s sniffles. The very next instant, you sat up.
“What’s wrong?” you asked trying to find his face in the dark. Kris didn’t respond. You turned on the side lamp so you could see what was wrong. Kris’s eyes were red and puffy. He hadn’t just started crying. It seemed like he’d been crying for a long time.
“What’s wrong oppa?” you asked once again. Kris didn’t respond but instead looked away.
“Oppa! Please tell me what’s wrong? You’re scaring me!” you squeezed his hand.
“Umma saw us together at the Bubble Tea shop the other day,” he said slowly. You felt like somebody had put a huge rock on your heart and crushed it. You knew his mother hated you. In fact his entire family hated you and your family. If your brother hadn’t run away with his sister, things would have been much better for the two of you. Kris was saying something but you couldn’t make sense of his words. Your teary eyes were fixed at his shaking body.
“____________,” he shook you.
“Ye,” you said shaking your head.
“Umma and Appa, were really mad. I’ve never seen them this mad.”
“Did you try to convince them?” you asked, without any hope.
He nodded. “I did, but they didn’t listen.”
You felt like your throat was getting dry. Your vision was blurred by the tears flowing down your cheeks. “So what does it mean?”
“I have to go __________,” Kris said trying to free his hand from your strong grip.
“No! oppa,” you whispered.
“I’m sorry __________,” he said getting up.
“You can’t do this. You know I can’t live without you.” you caught hold of his hand once again.
Kris kept shaking his head. “You know I love you ___________ and I always will but we can’t be together. I can’t go against their will.”
“We can convince them, together.”
“It’s not that simple!” he freed himself from you and began to leave. You could feel the world crashing as his hands slipped out of yours. Kris stopped by the door and came back to you. He kissed you on your lips. You knew it was going to be your last one. You could taste his salty tears and he, yours.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered pulling away. Before you could stop him, Kris left.
You collapsed on the ground and buried your face in your hands. The storm in your heart was much stronger than the howling wind outside.
**************************************************************
You passed your days staring into blank space. Your friends cried at your condition. They’d called Kris many times but he never picked up.
“_________ snap out of it,” your friend shook you. “It’s your birthday today. Let’s go out?”
**FLASHBACK**
‘Let’s go somewhere on your birthday this year!” he said suddenly.
“Where?” you asked.
“I don’t know. Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong. Where ever you want to go.”
“Really?” you asked excitedly.
“Ye,” he nodded.
A tear rolled down your cheek. You turned to your friend. “He promised me he would take me to Hong Kong on my birthday.”
“He’s not in your life anymore _________,” she said pulling you into a hug. You began crying. You cried a lot but it didn’t make you feel any better.
You wanted to give it one last try therefore you decided to go Kris’s house and beg his parents. You didn’t care about yourself respect. All you wanted was to be with him.
**********************************************************
You hesitated before knocking on the door. To your surprise, instead of one of Kris’s family members showing up, Luhan opened the door. You looked at him with questioning eyes.
“Where’s Kris?” you asked clearing your throat.
“____________, you shouldn’t be here.”
“I know but just let me talk to him once.”
“No I mean it. Kris is getting married soon. Go!” he said, sternly.
You had not seen that coming. “What?” you gasped.
Luhan nodded apologetically. “If his mother sees you here, God knows what will happen. So please go,” he insisted closing the door on you.
A few days ago, you felt like somebody had ripped your heart out of your body. You were wrong. What you felt today was incomparable to any pain you’d received in the 23 years of your life.
This was it. It really was.
**************************************************************
8 years later
You hated walking to work in the winters but you really didn’t have a choice. The little money you earned from the bubble tea shop you’d opened a few years ago was not enough for you to buy yourself a car. You fixed your glasses and wrapped your coat tightly around you.
“So how was last night?” your friend suddenly appeared from behind you and asked.
“Oh my God, you scared me,” you said holding your hand close to your chest.
“Ahaha, sorry.”
The two of you began walking again.
“Tell me,” she asked again, nudging your elbow.
“Ah, it was okay but he really isn’t my type. “ you wrinkled your nose.
She hit you on the shoulder. “This is why you won’t ever get a guy.”
“I’m absolutely fine with that,” you said with the fake smile that you’d been giving for the past eight years. The two of you reached the store. You unlocked the door and went inside.
“At least move near the city. It’s more lively there. Your business will be much better too.” She nagged you as usual. You sighed and listened to her with a smile on your face. This had been your morning routine ever since you’d opened the store.
“Hey’ I’m going to need you to do me a favor.” You asked her. She turned around and looked at you.
“We’re running out of tapioca. I couldn’t go last night because somebody had set me up on a blind date,” you said giving her a look. “So I want you to get them.”
“Okay but it’ll take me some time,” she said walking out the door.
It had been two hours and your friend hadn’t returned. You were regretting sending her. Nobody really came in the mornings. You were busy doing the math for the month’s budget when someone walked in.
“We don’t have tapioca so we won’t be able to serve bubble tea. Is there anything else you want?” you asked without looking up.
“Ummm, hot chocolate would be fine,” the person said. The voice was familiar. Very familiar. You instantly looked up. Kris was standing right before you looking at the menu on the wall. You turned around immediately to hide your face but more importantly to hide your tears. All those years that you’d kept them inside of you; they were coming out at his sudden appearance.
“Are you okay Ma’am?” Kris asked upon hearing your sniffles.
You covered your mouth and nodded.
“____________!” Kris whispered your name. He knew it was you. He remembered the fragrance you wore everyday and the way you cried softly.
You began to walk towards the kitchen but he held your hand and turned you around. You felt like everything around you had stopped for a second. You had wished for this moment for so long, that you didn’t think it was ever going to come true. Kris had teary eyes too. He kept repeating your name again and again and hugged you. You pulled away.
“Go home Kris,” you said angrily.
“__________ please listen to me.” He said holding your hand.
“No!” you shook your hand even though your heart said yes.
****************************************************
Your eyes moved from here to there. The cold wind kept hitting your face, making you want to cry even more.
“Why did you bring me here?” you asked keeping your eyes fixed on the ground.
Kris didn’t respond. You peeked at his face. He was looking at you with the same loving smile from years ago. You could never tell what was behind that smile. The smile suddenly disappeared and remorse took over. He swallowed a spit in his dry throat to get himself ready to speak.
“Where had you been all these years?”
“Does it matter anymore?” you asked after a while. You looked at him for a brief second and then looked away. You were ashamed of the wrinkles on your face and your eyes bags. You weren’t young anymore but he still looked young and fresh. You’d done this to yourself but you didn’t regret any moment of it.
“Married?” he asked.
You weren’t sure what to say. You knew well that Kris was married and he probably had a three year old child waiting at home for him. After a while, you shook your head. A smile broke on his face but you didn’t see it.
“Dated?” he asked again.
“Once for two months,” you said. Knowing the answer already you still asked him. “What about you?”
“Still single.” He replied after a long pause.
His answer had surprised you. You looked at him with your eyes wide open.
“But..” you began to say.
“Didn’t work out,” he complete for you, shaking his head. You felt like some sort of weight had been lifted from your heart. If you weren’t happy than neither was he. He was just as miserable as you. Who’s fault was it though? His parents? Who had ruined your life. Two people who loved each other so much were separated and neither of them were happy. There youth had faded. The time that they were suppose to spend with each other was lost now and it could never come back. Tears were coming back again but this time you controlled them.
“I have to go now.” you said fixing your glasses and getting up. Kris didn’t stop you. He had walked out of your life in the same way. His heart poked him repeatedly to call after you but his lips seemed to be locked.
**********************************************************
The next morning was surprisingly pleasant. Still struggling to forget the previous day’s events you walked to the store.
“Ahhh where are the keys,” you said in frustration, while shuffling your handbag. Your eyes fell on a small envelope by the door. You leaned down and picked it up. It wasn’t sealed. Two papers revealed as you opened it. It was a ticket and the other paper read a message – ‘I still owe you a trip to Hong Kong’.
A smile broke on your face. All the convincing that you’d done the night before, that what you did was right didn’t mean anything anymore. Your heart wanted to be with him. Without thinking twice, you began walking back home.
Two hands pulled you into an alley and the next instant your lips were connected to the very familiar soft lips. You could taste the salty tears except that this time they were tears of joy. You could feel him smiling. You were smiling too. It wasn’t his fault or your fault but if fate was giving you two another chance, you were going to grab it with both hands.

“Were you out with him again?” Kris asked as you entered the apartment.
“Huh!” you jumped with surprise. “Aish, Oppa you scared me!”
“I asked you something.” He said with a stern voice.
“He has a name!” you sighed.
“Okay, were you out with Gonchin, again?” he asked you, trying hard not to lose his patience.
“Ye,” you replied settling besides him. “Why does it bother you so much?”
“I don’t like it when you’re around him,” he said straight up.
“Huhhh Oppa,” you pouted.
“I’m serious!”
You knew he was in no mood to have fun at the moment.
“Okay,” you said with a flat face.
Kris rolled his eyes and got up to change.
“Let’s go out for dinner.” He suggested.
“ Aaan, okay,” you replied unwillingly. He always did this. Got mad at you and then pretend like nothing was wrong.
**************************************************
“________ ah are you a sleep?” Kris asked shaking you.
“I’m trying to,” you replied. You felt him sliding closer to you. You could feel his soft breaths on your neck. It felt good. He gave you a peck on your cheek.
“Sorry for getting mad earlier,” he apologized. You turned around to face him.
“It’s okay,” you said. You couldn’t stay mad at him forever. He kissed you on your lips once, twice then three times before pulling the covers on top of both of you.
****************************************************
“Bye,” Gonchin hugged you before leaving. Just then Kris walked in.
“Hey Kris,” he greeted cheerfully.
“Hey,” he replied sounding like a sour ball.
“What was that?” you said making a face as Gonchin left.
“Nothing,” Kris made a brief reply before going to the bathroom.
“So are we doing something tonight?” you asked. You knew he was mad but you had to do something to change his mood. You only saw him on the weekends and so you wanted to make the most out of it.
“I don’t know. Whatever you want to do!” he replied with no emotion.
“How about the club?” you suggested. You were hoping the music and a few drinks were going to change his mood. Kris agreed and so the two of you went to the club.
******************************************
“Feeling better?” you asked him as Kris gulped down his second drink.
“Yeah!” he replied getting up.
“Where are you going?” you asked.
“To dance..” he replied walking towards the dance floor. You were surprised because he always took your hand and dragged you to dance with him.
Kris walked up to a girl who was wearing a rather provocative dress and offered his hand. You could tell how hard she was trying not to squeal as she accepted his offer. Kris brought her to the dance floor and began dancing. You knew he was trying to make you jealous but you weren’t going to fall for it. You pretended like it didn’t bother you at all. Kris turned around and looked at you. You gave him a thumbs up. Kris turned around and slid his hand on the girls bare legs, working his way up to her arms and then stopping them near her face. It made you a little uncomfortable but you tried to stay calm. Kris pulled the girl even closer and before you knew it, he leaned in kissed her on the neck. He didn’t stop after one and continued. You sprang out of your seat and lunged towards him. Grabbing his sleeve you turned him around.
“Oppa!” you cried in horror.
“What?” he replied carelessly.
You couldn’t take it and so you turned around to leave.
******************************************************
Kris caught your attention by slamming the door behind him as he entered the apartment. Instead of saying something to you, he went straight to the bathroom to change. It was as if he didn’t even see you sitting on the bed, glaring at him.
“So you’re not going to say anything?” you asked.
“Should I be?” he threw back a question without looking at you, pretending to fold his shirt.
You got out of the bed and walked up to him.
“You were kissing her oppa!” you reminded him.
“So?” he asked raising his eyebrows.
“If you want to be in a relationship with me then you shouldn’t be doing such stuff,” you said, sounding a little irritated at his behavior. Kris sighed and turned around.
“Answer me,” you pulled him. He turned around and shot a look at you.
“Well than you shouldn’t be hanging out with Gonchin either!” he yelled. You jumped back in surprise at his sudden reaction.
“What do you mean? I told you he’s just a friend.”
“Then consider that girl my friend too,” he made a face.
“You don’t kiss your friends on their necks.”
“Then you don’t hug them either.”
“It was just a hug. Why are you making such a big deal out of it?”
“You’re making a big deal out of it. I didn’t say anything until you brought it up,” he defended himself.
“Now you’re just being immature and ridiculous,” You scowled.
“I’m not the one being ridiculous,” he said taking a hold of your arms. You tried to pull away but he didn’t let go. You placed your arms on his shoulders so you could push yourself away but instead Kris pushed you back. You had barely kept yourself from falling when suddenly Kris’s palm touched your face with extreme force. It took you a few seconds to realize that he had slapped you. You looked at him with horror filled eyes. This was a side of him you’d never seen. He advanced towards you once again and grabbed you as if what he had done wasn’t enough. You whimpered.
“Oppa what are you doing?” you asked with a shaky voice.
He began to drag you towards the bed.
“No!” you screamed but he didn’t stop. You closed your eyes tightly. You didn’t want him to do this because you still loved him and if he did this you knew he was going to regret it. You couldn’t let him make this mistake.
“You’re a monster,” you blurted out pushing him. It wasn’t your push but your words that stopped him. He quickly pulled his hands away and buried his face in them. You didn’t know if he’d calmed down or not but you didn’t want to take any chances. You quickly got up and ran out of the room into the room next door.
************************************************
You opened your eyes to a puffy eyed Kris looking at you. He slid his hand on top of yours. You began to pull it away but he held them tightly pulling you towards him. He embraced you, resting his face on your shoulders. You felt something warm and wet on your shoulders. He was crying again.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered into your ear. You nodded your head in approval.
“Thanks for stopping me last night,” he said again. You pulled away and looked at him. He caressed your cheek. It still hurt a little.
“I am so sorry,” that’s all he could say. There were so many things he wanted to say but his tongue refused to speak.
“It’s okay,” you replied. You didn’t want him to say anything. You had known him for too long. You knew he loved you and you loved him. You just hoped that whatever had happened the night before never happened again.
“You can see Gonchin whenever you want too.”
“Shhhhhh,” you placed your finger on his lips. “Just don’t kiss another girl like that ever again okay?”
“I won’t, I promise.” He said, kissing you on your forehead.

“Come on.. come into the water,” you friend pulled you.
“Nooo,” you pulled back. “You know I’m scared of the water.”
“Such a loser,” he said and ran towards the tide.
You wrapped your towel around you tightly and sat in the corner. It was a windy day. Why were you and your friends on the beach? You had no idea. Seeing them play in the water made you jealous. You wished you could do that too. You’d always been scared of it. You sighed and turned your head in the other direction trying to avoid the scene. There was a guy walking on the beach at a distance. You couldn’t define his features but you could tell that he was very handsome. The wind gently brushed his hair, he pulled it back but it was no use.
‘Why is he walking by himself?’ You thought to yourself.
“__________, Last chance! Come onnnnnn,” you friend screamed. A wave suddenly hit him from behind. You couldn’t help but laugh.
“That’s why I don’t want to come,” you screamed back.
You quickly turned around to look at the guy again but he wasn’t there anymore. Your eyes wandered everywhere, searching for him but you couldn’t find him.
One by one your friends started coming back.
“You should’ve come,” your friend said and hugged you.
“Ewwww, get away,” you pushed him. “You’re wet.”
“So what! You have a towel wrapped around you,” he said and advanced towards you. You hated it when he did that. Why couldn’t he just act like a normal friend? You’d told him that you thought of him nothing more but a friend but he loved flirting around with you.
“Stop! Come on lets go change,” your other friend stopped him and pulled him in the other direction.
“Thank you,” you mouthed the words to your friend as she left with him.
You took a deep breath and looked at the sea. The waves had started settling down.
‘Maybe I should go and try it for once’ You thought to yourself. You really wanted to see what it felt like to be in the water. You slowly started walking towards the water and stopped only inches away from it. You took off your towel and thought one last time and finally stepped into it. It was cold. A shudder ran through you but you didn’t back down. You continued into the water staring blankly into space. You felt good. It wasn’t bad at all. It was very soothing actually. It was when you were knee deep in water that you decided to go back. You turned around but just stood there. Slowly, you bent down and touched the water. You could feel the sea weeds touching your feet. Suddenly a huge wave from behind hit you and you lost your balance. You struggled to open your eyes under water but they hurt. You tried to push yourself up but you couldn’t.
This was it. This is how you were going to die. Your life was flashing before your eyes. All the bad things, good things, things you regretted doing, things you wished you’d done, were now playing in your head.
Suddenly two hands pulled you out of the water. And that’s when you lost consciousness.
***************************************
He pulled you out of the water and settled you on the sandy beach. You weren’t responding. He was panicking too. He pumped your chest. Some water came out but you still didn’t breath. He repeated the process but you still didn’t respond. He shook you.
“Oh God! What do I do?” he said and smacked his forehead.
He thought for a while and then leaned in to give you mouth to mouth. His lips were only inches away from yours when you coughed out some more water on his face. You slowly opened your eyes and began getting up but bumped your forehead into his.
“Ouch,” you said rubbing it. He suddenly pulled back.
“Who are you?” you asked instatntly.
“Kris,” he replied quickly.
You stared at him. He looked like the same guy who’d been walking on the beach. You narrowed your eyebrows and stared at him intently.
“Although most people say thank you when someone saves their life,” he said with a sexy smile on his face.
You felt stupid and looked away. He was still on top of you. The two of you were in a very awkward position. He had carefully placed his hands on your waist and was looking at you intently. Your wet and bare body was shivering. You looked at him looking at you. You’d never had a guy this close to you, especially when you were half naked.
“Ahem ahem..” you cleared your throat.
“Oh sorry,” he said shaking his head.
You expected him to get off of you but he didn’t.
“Umm you also might want to get off of me.”
“Oh I am so sorry. Uhh.. I don’t even know what I’m doing right now,” Kris said and quickly got up. He seemed nervous.
He ran and grabbed your towel for you.
“Here,” he said and wrapped it around you.
“Gomawo,” you said.
“So I’ll see you around?” he said taking a few steps back.
“Ye,” you replied, secretly wishing he wouldn’t go away.
He turned around and started walking. You did the same but your heart kept asking you to stop him. You didn’t know why but all you knew was that you didn’t want to lose this chance.
“Kris!” You quickly turned around and called his name.
He turned around immediately as if waiting for you to call him.
“Are you alone here?” you asked.
“Ye,” he replied looking away and then looking back at you. “But you can join me if you want to.”
You felt your heart skip a beat.
He came towards you and pulled you. “Come on, let’s take a walk.”

When I was writing this all I could think of was Kris’s awkward SEXY smile [ you all know what I’m talking about right? Haha]
I know, I know Tao is the one taking long lonely walks on the beach but I guess Kris fits the situation well too :)

Kris flung open the door, ran inside and hugged you. “What’s wrong?” he said as he tightened his hug.
“He.. left!” you said between sobs. He didn’t need to hear anything else. He ran his soft hands back and forth on your back. He gave you a tissue to blow your nose and wipe your tears.
“I am so sorry this happened!” he said taking your hand and holding it firmly.
“I dunno where I went wrong?” you said looking into his eyes.
“You were not wrong! Okay!” he said, trying to comfort you.
The two of you sat in silence in the dark. Hours passed away and neither of you talked. You were glad that Kris was here with you tonight. You needed him. He was the closest person to you after your boy friend. Ex boyfriend now! You laid your head on Kris’ chest and slowly drifted to sleep.
*****************************************
The bright sun rays escaping through the tiny gap between the curtains woke you up. You rubbed your eyes and sat up. Kris was still fast asleep. You had been laying on top of him all night. You patted his chest. He shifted on the couch but soon woke up.
“Is it morning yet?” he asked.
“Yeah!” you whispered back. “I am so sorry about last night!”
“What is there to be sorry about?” he asked with a blank expression.
You shook your head. “I’ll make you some coffee, okay!” you said and went to the kitchen.
“Are you ready to talk about it?” he asked following you to the kitchen.
You didn’t respond but shook your head.
“Here you go,” you turned around, with a big smile on your face. He could see right through it but he played along.
“Gomawo! I’ll have to leave now but I will come back tonight okay!” he said.
Kris gathered his stuff and left, leaving you alone in the empty silence as it creeped through the walls.
***********************************************
A month passed away and nothing changed. Kris tried to cheer you up but you just couldn’t pull yourself together. You acted like you were really happy but he knew that all of it was just an act. You didn’t want to show anybody your week side and so you were trying hard to repress all that had happened.
‘Can I come over for dinner tonight?’ Kris texted you.
You weren’t really up for company but you owed him so you agreed.
“Hey,” he said coming and hugging you.
“Wow that was fast!” you said.
“Yeah I was just down the street so I thought of coming here!”
“I’m glad you came,” you lied because you didn’t want to upset him.
“So what are you cooking? It smells good,” he asked.
“Noodles… Just sit down over there and I will bring them in a minute.”
You carefully placed the noodles in the bowl but there was something missing. You stared at them for a while and it finally hit you.
“Aha! Dressing!” you said snapping your fingers. They were in the top cabinet. You stood on your tippy toes trying to reach it but failed miserably. Suddenly two hands reached from behind you and grabbed the small container for you. You turned around. Kris was standing close to you. So close that you could hear his heart beat. He looked at you as if he was lost in your eyes. There was something about his looks. They were captivating. It was as if you were under a spell too. He slowly leaned in and stopped inches away from your lips as if thinking one last time before what he was about to do. You didn’t stop him. You were lonely and broken. He finally pressed his lips against yours. You felt good for a second. You liked it but then the image of your ex popped up in your head and you quickly pulled away.
“I’m sorry,” you apologized.
“I’m not!” he quickly responded. You looked at him with questioning eyes. What did he mean?
“I can’t see you like this anymore. You knew I’d had feelings for you before you even started dating Chu Min. “
You were surprised.
“I didn’t” you denied.
“How couldn’t you? Didn’t you feel anything towards me when we hung out?”
You chose not to respond.
“Please ________, I can make you happy. Accept me and you will never have to go through this again.”
You thought for a while. “It’s too early Kris. I don’t know if I can handle this right now.”
“You can if I am with you,” he said holding your hand. You were looking at the ground now.
At some point you had had feelings for him but then you met Chu Min and things changed. Kris was obviously more than a friend to you. He had been there with you through thick and thin and now he was waiting for you to respond. You didn’t want to hurt him. Maybe being with him would let you move on and so you hugged him. You could feel a smile spread across his face as he hugged you tightly.
“Thank you!” he whispered as a tear rolled down his cheek, but he quickly wiped it away not wanting to show it to you.
***************************************
Now that the two of you were going out Kris put extra effort into making you happy. He would do stuff that you wouldn’t even ask for. He truly loved you.
‘Hey, I’ll be a little late tonight so I won’t be able to cook dinner. Can you grab something from outside for us?’ – you texted him.
‘Sure’ – he replied.
Sure enough you were late. You unlocked the door to your apartment and walked in. The delicious aroma of the food hit your nose. You walked into the kitchen. Kris had set the table for the two of you.
“Did you cook?” you asked, shocked.
He turned around with a big smile on his face. “Of course, just for you.” He offered you his hand and helped you sit.
“Awwww Kris, you didn’t have too. I feel so bad now,” you covered your mouth.
“I’d been wanting to do this for a while. We haven’t been able to be together for a week so this is like an apology gift,” he said cutely.
“Awwww this is so sweet. Thank you so much.”
***************************************
Kris walked into his apartment only to find you sitting on the couch with your face buried in your hands.
“Oh woaaww, hey?” he said with a surprised look on his face.
He heard your sniffles and panicked. He sprinted toward you and forced your hands off your face. You’d been crying . He hugged you .
“ What’s wrong?” he asked.
“I am so sorry Kris,” you said between sobs.
“What do you mean? Why are you sorry?” he asked, obviously very confused.
“He’s back. “
Kris loosened his grip on you and he pulled away. “What do you mean?”
“I am so sorry. I tried to pull away but he is back and he is really sorry for what he has done. I didn’t know what to do but when I saw him I just couldn’t resist myself. So I forgave him “ you said in broken speech.
You looked at him for a response. He was obviously devastated; his head leaning towards the floor.
“Can you forgive me?” you asked but he didn’t respond. You knew you’d hurt him a lot and you didn’t want to make it any worse. You slowly got up and left.
Tonight was just like the other night when you were crying and Kris was there for you, except that today it was his heart that was broken and he had no one.
****************************************************
“I am so glad you forgave me,” Chu Min said as you rested your head on his chest.
“I am glad that we are together again,” you replied as he kissed you on your temple.
You were thinking about Kris. He hadn’t answered your calls in weeks. You had not only lost a good friend but you had hurt him a lot too. Every day the thought of him sitting in that room all by himself, when you left him killed you. It hurt you. You just wanted the pain to go away. You tried to distract yourself by being with Chu Min all the time but it wasn’t working. He had said that he’s changed but the truth was he hadn’t. Worst of all he didn’t love you like Kris did.
A tear rolled down your cheek.
“What wrong?” Chu Min asked.
“Uhh nothing.” You said wiping it away.
“Okay,” he replied getting out of bed. “I need to go somewhere. I’ll be back in a bit.”
You were surprised at his reaction. Had it been Kris He would have made sure you felt better before he would do anything else. That’s when it hit you. The constant worry about him, the thoughts of him being lonely and how you’d hurt him meant that you loved him. He made you feel what Chu Min never could. You were just, realizing that. You felt like a player. You played with his heart when you were lonely and then left when you got what you wanted.
You jumped out of bed and dressed yourself.
“What’s wrong. Are you going somewhere?” Chu Min asked.
“Yeah.” You replied.
“Where?”
“Out of your life,” you said and hurried out of the door, without waiting for his response.
***********************************************
You waited backstage in the SBS building where Kris was performing. You were nervous. You didn’t know what to say. You knew he wouldn’t forgive you but you wanted to set things right, even if you couldn’t be with him anymore.
The door opened and the EXO members were standing in front of you.
“Ahh We will leave the two of you alone.” Lay said and left. The others followed.
You wanted to say something but your tongue wouldn’t move. You could feel tears forming in the corner of your eyes. You tried to talk again but you couldn’t . Kris walked towards you and stood in front of you. Without giving a hint, he hugged you. You were crying now.
“I am so pathetic Kris. I don’t deserve this.” You said.
“Shhhhh,” he said shussing you up.
“No please I need to say this.” You insisted as you pulled away.
“I was an idiot for doing what I did. I was running after someone who never loved me and running away from the one who always did. I have hurt you so much and you can’t imagine how much I hate myself for this. I don’t deserve you at all but I want to apologize. Please forgive me. “ you said looking into his eyes for an answer.
He wrapped his arms around you in a tight embrace. “I Love you too much to let you go,” he whispered.
You were shocked. How could he forgive you so easily.
“I don’t deserve this Kris.”
“You deserve every bit of my love,” he said pulling away. “Please don’t leave me again.”
He leaned in and kissed you. This time none of you pulled away. Both of you were happy. Happy to be together with no one tearing you apart.

**Yaaayyy** I finally finished this one. I fell asleep writing this one so the first thing I did this morning after class was to finish this. I know it’s a bit cheesy but I really like it. I hope you like it too anon :)

“Wooooooooowwwwwww,” you exclaimed as you got off the train. “So this is what Seoul looks like huh?”
“Yes it does,” you friend said as she picked up her luggage. “And now this is where you’ll live,” she said putting her hand on your shoulder.
You looked around. The girls were wearing pretty dresses with matching shoes and hand bags. And the guys, the guys looked perfect in their modern attire. You looked down at yourself. Compared to them, you looked a village girl.
“Anything wrong?” your friend asked.
“Yeah, everything. We need to go shopping,” you said making a funny face.
Your friend laughed. “I knew you’d say that.”
******************************************************
It had been a few weeks and you were still adjusting to the new environment. Your fellow students at Yonsei were very nice to you but you still felt like an outsider.
You were walking down the street, window shopping one day when you saw a guy who looked awfully similar. He was hiding his face in his hood but you could still tell it was him. There was no way you could be mistaken. You sprinted towards him and pulled his hood off.
“You, oh my God, do you have any idea how much trouble you’re in. Your parents have been worried sick about you.” You put your hand on your hips. He was clearly taken aback by your sudden appearance, out of nowhere. “Just because you failed one exam doesn’t mean you run away from home. Do you know how long your parents cried for?” you asked moving your head from side to side. You could see a crowd building up. “Well, do you have an explanation for what you’ve done?” He began to say something but you started talking again. “You are the only son in the family you know if you just…” you suddenly noticed that this guy was a lot more good looking then your neighbors son back home. His skin was perfect and the hair was neatly pulled back. You could see him sighing and looking at you with a strange look. It suddenly hit you. You were talking to the wrong person. You could hear the crowd chanting ***Kris, Kris.. Kris***
This was clearly not the right guy. A worried look made its way to your face. You covered your mouth with both your hands. “Opps!” Kris took a step back only to bump into a door pushing the water bucket that was on top of it. All the water fell on him. Just what was needed to make the situation more dramatic.
He raised his eyebrows and shoulders. “Thanks a lot,” he said as he walked past you hitting you with his shoulder. You turned around only to see all the girls running after him, yelling his name. You had never been more embarrassed in your life. More importantly you had no idea who ‘Kris’ was or why he was so popular? All you knew was that you had caused him a hell a lot of trouble that day.
*****************************************
After the street incident, your life went back to normal. You regretted what you had done that day but you couldn’t just keep thinking about it. You even googled the guy’s name. Apparently he was from a group named Exo who had just debuted. You had to admit, he was pretty good looking. You hoped to never see him again because you knew you’d be in a lot of trouble if you did.
It had been thirty minutes and your friend still hadn’t returned. The two of you had decided to spend a day at the mall and this is not how you wanted it to go. You were leaning against a glass door when you saw him. He was sitting right across from you in a restaurant with several other people. To your surprise, he had been looking at you. He was smiling too. You knew you had to run away. You turned around and walked towards the elevator. You were about to push the button when someone held your wrist.
“Excuse me ma’am but that’s a private area, you can’t go inside.” You looked up and sure enough it was a private area. You turned around but the guy called after you.
“Do you need help with something?” he asked as the two of you walked towards the escalator. You looked in the direction of where Kris was sitting. His gaze had been following each and every move you’d been making. Your throat was dry and your hands were numb. You put your head on your forehead.
“I .. aaaa, could you tell me where the nearest taxi stand is?” you asked, taking in a spit. As the guy was giving you directions you saw Kris get up. You panicked and stepped one foot on the escalator, while the other was still on the floor. You had no idea what you were thinking. Your legs were now wide open as the escalator moved. The guys stopped giving instructions and gave you a strange look. He gave up and turned around and left. You finally put your other foot on the escalator and looked up. Kris was laughing now. He’d seen everything.
Correction, this had been the most embarrassing day of your life.
*****************************************
You had never acted so stupid in your life and now you’d managed to do that twice, in front of the same guy who also happened to be a super star.
You had started working for a small company that arranged birthdays. You loved everything about your job except for the part where you had to dress up as a clown and hand out fliers on the street. It was exhausting and the costume made you itchy. You wanted to take a break therefore you settled down on the bench and took off your big clown head.
“Ahhhhhh, feels so good,” you said as the breeze kissed your face. You waterfalled the water out of the bottle and looked around. There was some sort of a shooting going on for an MV. You wanted to see but you couldn’t leave your spot. You sighed and looked the other way.
“Excuse me,” someone said from behind you.
You turned around and there he was, standing only inches away from you with a big smile on his face. You started shaking. You quickly picked up your clown head and put it on. As you turned around to walk, you couldn’t see anything. The holes for the eyes weren’t there. That’s when you realized that you’d accidently worn it the wrong way. You sighed and took it off. He was still looking at you with a big smile on his face. You had started hating that smile now. You felt like he was insulting you for your clumsiness. Tears started forming in the corner of your eyes. His face lost the smile. You quickly turned around and ran away.
“Waiiit,” he called from behind but you didn’t turn around.
You begged your manager to let you work inside the building for the rest of the day. He agreed if only you’d go back out at night. You were so desperate at this point that you agreed to it.
When your shift finally ended, you took off your clown head and sat down staring at the lake across you. It was so calm and peaceful. You wanted to forget about everything that happened earlier that day and lose yourself in the moment. The light breeze, brushed your hair. You raised your hand to push your hair back when you saw someone standing in front of you. He was wearing a clown head but the wrong way, kind of like how you did when you panicked. He was also holding a rose in his hand offering it to you. A smile broke on your face as you got up and accepted it. The guy took of his clown head and it was exactly who you had expected. Kris!
“Why do you keep running away from me?” he asked leaning in.
You couldn’t stop smiling and so you looked away.
“I have never seen some one as cute as you,” he said.
You were surprised by the remark. You gave him a confused look.
“When you first confronted me, I was taken aback but there was something about you that I liked. I didn’t know what it was until the second time I saw you.” He paused,” You’re different!”
You pouted.
“No, really! You’re different from all these other girls that run after me every day.”
“Then why did you always smile at me like I was a freak?” you finally said.
He chuckled. “Freak? You are anything but a freak. You are so adorable and cute and I just want to pull your cheeks sometimes,” he said.
You were blushing now. Now quite the compliment you had expected but you felt good.
He hesitated a bit but slowly raised his hand and grabbed yours. “Come on, let me take you to a really beautiful place.”
You wanted to ask, where, but you were still in a shock from all that had happened. All you knew was that a handsome guy, with a perfectly crafted face had just asked you out.

You stared into blank space, your vision blurred by your tears. Everything was over. You wanted to pull all your hair out. The pain in your head was killing you. The memory of the accident was very painful for you. As much as you wanted it to go away, it wouldn’t. It kept coming back. The sight of blood everywhere, you trying to hold his hand as the ambulance took him away. You looked up, asking God why he had done this to you. Why had he let you live while the person you lived for, the person you loved the most in this world, was dead.
The door opened and Kris entered. He sat on the chair beside the hospital bed.
“How are you feeling now?” he asked.
You didn’t respond.
“Look __________, you have to talk. You have to say something. It’s been more than two weeks now!” he said desperately. As usual, he was disappointed. He got up to leave. As he approached the door, he turned around one last time to see if you would say something but you didn’t.
“What was the last thing he said?” you asked with a voice barely audible.
He came back and sat beside you, trying hard to hold back his tears.
‘He, aaa,” his voice choked,” he told me to take care of you.” Kris finally said. “He wanted me to offer my hand into marriage with you!” he said looking at you for an answer so he wouldn’t have to continue.
You were lost in your own thought. ‘I cannot imagine my life without him and he wants me to get married to someone else. He wants me to dedicate my life to someone else. How could he be so selfish?’ You thought about your fiancé.
“He loved you a lot. I am sure he is looking after you right now. He just wants you to be happy. Seeing you like this would hurt him a lot. You don’t want to do that,” he said putting his hand on your arm. “You have to move on ________. Please accept my marriage proposal and make him happy. This was his last wish.”
You slowly slid your hand away and turned your face, so you wouldn’t have to look at Kris.
You didn’t have a choice. You loved your fiancé too much to not listen to him. You had to get married to Kris to make him happy, even if it meant a life of misery for you. You had never imagined living your life with a person you didn’t love. You had lost all the ability to love. You couldn’t love again. You knew you were going to hurt Kris but your dead fiancé’s last wish was more important to you.
And so you got married to Kris. Your wedding wasn’t a wedding. It was a mere signing of the papers. You hadn’t exchange a word with Kris in the entire process.
*********************************
“You can sleep on the bed. I’ll sleep on the couch,” he said picking up a pillow.
You quietly lay down in bed but sleep was far from your eyes.
Two weeks passed without the two of you saying anything to each other. He would get up early every morning and make breakfast for you and then leave for work. He used to come home late and then go to sleep. This was your life. The memory of the accident haunted you every day.
“I was thinking we could go out for dinner tomorrow night,” Kris said over dinner.
“Okay,” you replied and went back to eating.
********************************************
“Are you ready?” he asked as he entered the room.
“Yeah.” You replied. You were wearing an orange dress. You looked beautiful. Kris shook his head when he realized that he had been staring at you.
“Umm, let’s go,” he said.
“The food here is really good,” Kris said as the two of you entered the restaurant. “I used to come here a lot when I was young.”
You could see his efforts to try and start a conversation and you admired them but you didn’t have the heart to talk. The two of you quietly ate dinner and came back home. You wondered how long you could keep this going.
********************************************
It was almost 12 o clock and Kris hadn’t returned. He was always home by 10. You looked at the clock repeatedly. The door finally opened and Kris stumbled inside. He was drunk. What more could you expect out of a man who was forced into an unsuccessful marriage. As he came into the room he advanced towards you. Without giving you a warning he held you tightly. You struggled to free yourself but failed. “What are you doing Kris?” you asked, still struggling. He didn’t respond and continued to take your clothes off.
“Kris, please,” you now pleaded. He dragged you towards the bed. You were now completely naked and horrified. You continued to beg him to stop but he wasn’t listening. He was lost in his own world. He got on top of you and that’s when you knew there was no stopping to this. You turned your face sideways so you won’t have to have to witness it with your eyes. He was violent. Very violent. It was painful but you controlled yourself from screaming. He had no idea how much he was hurting you.
********************************************
You entire body hurt when you woke up the next morning. You looked around for Kris but he was nowhere to be seen. You waited for him as the day passed but he didn’t return. As the sun set the door opened and Kris entered. You were curled up on the couch. He looked at you with a flat face and proceeded towards the room.
“Do you not feel sorry about what you did last night,” you yelled not being able to control your anger.
“No.” He said as he continued towards the room. You ran up to him and held him by the shoulder pulling him back.
“Is this what you promised him? To hurt me like this?,” you said tears now rolling out of your eyes.
He let himself loose from your grip and pulled back. “No, this is not what I had promised him okay! I said I would take care of you but who is going to take care of me,” he came closer to you and held you by your arms. “It’s been over 6 months For God’s sakes 6 months. You wake up after I leave and when I come home every night all I do is sleep. You never respond to any of my questions. You never offer to help me with anything. Do you even know what’s going on in my life?” he pushed you back. “I promised to take care of you and that’s what I have been doing up till now but you, you’re like a lifeless statue that’s living here with me. I have tried so hard to cheer you up every day but you don’t respond at all. I wasn’t asking you for anything but just a little care and consideration. I know what you’ve been through and I don’t expect you to love me but..”
“But what Kris? Just because you’re upset doesn’t justify what you did last night. What do you want me to do? I didn’t want to get married in the first place. The only reason I am here today is because of him. He wanted this and all I want is for him to be happy. Your concerns are the least of my worries.”
He scoffed. “Do you even hear yourself? How could you be so heartless and selfish?” he said wiping his tears. “You know what, just forget it.” He said with a disappointing face and slowly walked into the room.
You sat on the couch. Today, you were missing your fiancé a lot more than usual. If he had been here, none of this would have been happening. You wouldn’t have been stuck with Kris. You were too blind to see all that he was doing for you. You dwelled in your past because you were too scared to move on. You felt like you wouldn’t be faithful to your fiancé if you moved on like this.
*******************************************
You found yourself in the bed the next morning. Kris had carried you to bed last night because you fell asleep on the couch. You rolled over and saw him still fast asleep. ‘I shouldn’t treat him like that. After all that he has done for me. Yeah, but what he did to me wasn’t right either. But you should give him a second chance.’
Your thoughts were killing you. You didn’t know what to do. A part of you was telling you to give him a chance and the other part hated him for what he had done. But you couldn’t overlook all the nice things he had done for you.
Today was the first time in 6 months, that you got up and made breakfast. You were setting the food on the table when Kris came out of the room, yawning and stretching.
“You made breakfast?” he asked with a surprised look on his face.
“Yeah,” you replied and went back to doing your work.
He came and stood behind you. “Listen about last night ..and the night before.,” he said scratching his head,” I am really..”
“Can we please not talk about it,” you interrupted.
“No, Please let me say it,” he said. “I am sorry. I shouldn’t have reacted like that. I don’t know what got into me. I wasn’t thinking straight. I was drunk and I know I’ve hurt you a lot. And what I said last night, can we please just forget about that?” he pleaded.
“If people could forget things that easily, wouldn’t this world be a happy place?” you asked looking at him with questioning eyes. “The breakfast is getting cold. Let’s eat.”
The two of you finished your breakfast in silence and Kris left for work. You felt so lonely. You wanted to talk to someone but you had nobody. Your life couldn’t have been more miserable. What you couldn’t see was that Kris was always there for you, you were just not ready.
**************************************
Kris came home early that night. You were busy reading your book. You didn’t even notice that he had entered the room until he came and stood in front of you. He had a bouquet in his hand.
“Here, I got it for you!” he said giving it to you. You took it from him and placed it besides you. You felt guilty. You wanted to apologize but you didn’t know how. Kris sat beside you and began to say something but stopped. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to say anything.
“I am sorry about what I said.” You said finally breaking the cold silence.
He held your hand in his, “Can we just move on from all of this and start over?” he asked. Here was the moment of truth. You had been running away from this question forever but you needed someone. You really did. The emptiness inside you was killing you. Kris was standing right there offering himself to you. You broke down. As the tears started coming out, you hugged him. You didn’t know if you were crying because you missed your fiancé or because you felt guilty for making Kris’s life miserable. All you knew was that you wanted this moment to last forever. The feeling of him being there for you was so satisfying. You didn’t want to let go of him. Had you started having feelings for him? You didn’t know.
“_________, can I tell you something?” he asked as he ran his fingers through your hair.
“Yeah?”
“I fell in love with you the day you became my bride. Your puffy eyes, flushed cheeks and the sad smile hurt me a lot more than you can imagine. At the time, I didn’t know why it was or what it was but I slowly came to realize that I had fallen for you. I had started loving you. Hearing you weep silently every night hurt me a lot. I wanted it to stop. I wanted you to be happy but then I made a mistake and I will forever remain guilty for that. I shouldn’t have hurt you that night. I really, really do love you. If you could find it in your heart to forgive me and accept me, I promise I will never let you down. I will try everything to make you happy. I know you can’t forget what happened in the past but I can help you move on.”
His soft voice melted like honey, in your ears. You looked up at him. He leaned in and kissed your cheeks wiping away the tears. He kissed your eyes as you closed them and then your forehead. He came closer to your lips but instead kissed you on the side. He wasn’t sure if you were ready.
You were ready. You slid your hand to the back of his neck and leaned in to kiss him. As your lips touched his, you felt a strange but happy feeling in your heart. As if it was telling you that you were doing the right thing.
“I am ready to move on ,” you said looking straight into his eyes.
His eyes were smiling.
“Thank you,” he said as he slid his hand on your back and slowly pushed you towards the bed, pulling the covers on top of the two of you. You weren’t scared of him, tonight. You were happy.

Anon, I know this is different from what you had expected but I really wanted to try something new and more tragic than the regular cutesy stuff.
Do let me know if you liked it or not ! :)

“Alright guys these are your designs for next week. Check them and tell me if you like them okay?” you said as you handed them the pictures.
“Hey, I have an idea,” Kris suddenly blurted, “ I was thinking of just wearing a jacket, without a shirt underneath.”
You, along with all the other guys gave Kris a strange look.
“What?” he said trying to hold back his smile ,” I’ve been working out. I think it’s time I show the fans my abs.”
You started blushing. The memory of the other night started coming back to you. It had been almost a month since the episode you had with Kris but it was still fresh in your head.
“What do you think _____,” Kris asked you giving you one of his sexy looks.
“Ahh, Umm,” you shook your head,” Umm .. I think you should go for it.”
Kris was smiling at your approval. You couldn’t stand it and excused yourself out of the room.
******************************************
“Kris is so sexyyyy,” your friend whispered as the two of you stared at the guys perform. “I mean look at him. Look at his abs. How do you even work with this guy,” she asked.
“Shhhhhh, I’m not going to bring you back if you keep doing this,” You said adjusting your glasses.
Your friend pouted. “Ohh they’re coming back. Introduce me to him please,” she begged you.
“No, I won’t.”
“Pleaseeeeeee.”
“Shhhh,.. oh hey you guys did great,” you congratulated them as they came in.
“Who’s your pretty friend,” Kris came up to you guys and asked.
“Hi I am Claire,” your friend introduced herself.
“Hi, Claire,” Kris shook hands with her.
“Is your friend in a bad mood again.” Kris asked trying to annoy you.
“Isn’t she always?” your friend said.
Kris started laughing. You wanted to punch him but of course, you couldn’t.
“I’m going to leave now. You two enjoy okay?” you said giving Kris an angry look.
He smiled back at you just to annoy you more. The entire rest of the day Kris stared at you. Every time you looked at him, he was looking at you. The funny thing was, he won’t even look away, even when you caught him staring at you. He would just give you his cheesy smile and then wait for you to look away. You were confused as to why he was doing this. Sure, you guys were ‘friends’ now but you guys weren’t close. It made you uncomfortable.
After that day, every time you hung out with the members, Kris would do the same. You wanted to ask him but you were too scared. You didn’t want him to insult you.
************************************
“Hey guys I’m going to need some help bring down stuff from the store. It’s really high and I am too short to reach it.” You said poking your head in the training room.
“Umm Kris can help you since he is the tallest one in here,” Xiumin suggested. Kris jumped up as if he was looking for this opportunity.
“Let’s go,” he said as he approached you. You were mesmerized by the smell of his perfume. ’Seriously how does he manage to smell so good, all the time.’ You thought.
“It’s really dusty up there, so be careful.” You warned him as the two of you walked to towards the attic.
“So what do you want me to get.”
“That red box on the top shelf.”
“Okay,” he said and stood on his tippy toes. He grabbed the box and put it on the floor. He came near you, his face only inches away from yours, “Anything else ma’am?”
You made a disgusted face,” No, nothing else,” you finally replied.
“So, there’s a party at our dorm tomorrow night to celebrate our comeback. Do you want to come?” he asked.
“Yeah, the manager already invited me. I’m coming,” you said trying to act casual.
“Hmm, good! So I’ll see you there,” he said.
“Yeah,” you replied.
*****************************************
“Hello beautiful,” Lay said as you entered their dorm.
“Ahahaha, thankyou,” you said but your eyes were searching for Kris. You found him standing in the corner of the room. He wasn’t pleased by the comment Lay had passed. You had just found his weakness.
“So Lay, do you want to show me around the dorm?” you asked putting your hand on his shoulder.
“Sure. Come one,” he said putting his hand on your waist. You turned around to look at Kris. He was mad now. He shook his head and looked away.
You expected the party to be boring but it was quite the opposite. You were having fun. Every time Kris came near you, you walked away. He made you nervous and you didn’t want to show him that.
“Hey Luhan. Where’s the bathroom?” you asked.
“It’s in that room in the corner. Don’t go in the one outside because it’s not clean,” he warned.
When you came out of the bathroom, Kris was standing in front of you. He had locked the door of the room. You were scared. Something bad was about to happen. You started towards the door but he blocked you.
“Kris let me go,” you asked.
He suddenly held you by your waist and pulled you closer to him.
“What are you doing?” you said trying to pull away.
“Shhhhhhhhhhh,” he said and pulled you even closer. You looked away, but he kept looking at you.
He wouldn’t let you go. You didn’t want to scream and create a scene.
“Why do you look at me like that?” you finally gathered enough courage to ask. Your whole body was numb because of nervousness. You were looking at him straight in the eye now. Kris began to say something but stopped. He slowly moved one of his hand up your back and then moved you hair from your face. He leaned and kissed you. You couldn’t have possibly imagined this. He was kissing you. You were kissing him too. You didn’t know when you began kissing him back but you were kissing him. He slid his hands under your shirt and pushed you gently towards the wall. He moved towards your neck and began kissing you. You weren’t scared anymore. You were enjoying it. Your heart had secretly wanted this all along. Then the reality of it suddenly hit you. What if he was just using you. You pushed him back.
“This isn’t right Kris,” you said.
“What’s not right?” he asked.
“This.”
“I like you ______, I don’t see what’s wrong with that?”
You gave him a confused look.
“I’ve liked you for a long time actually. I just didn’t want to tell you because I wasn’t sure if you liked me.” He came closer to you and held your hands. “But that night, when you and I were stuck in that room, I realized that you liked me too. You know it’s true, you can’t deny it.”
He was right. You couldn’t deny it. You did like him.
He held your face in his gentle hands. “All I am saying is that I want to be with you. I don’t like seeing you with other guys. I want you to be mine. Forever.” He was looking straight into your eyes.
A smile broke on your face. He wasn’t lying. You could see it in his eyes. All that intimidation suddenly disappeared.
He leaned in and kissed you on the cheek. “So should I consider that smile a Yes?” he asked.
You nodded, still too surprised to say anything. You hugged him.
“I promise you, you won’t regret this,” he whispered.
“I won’t,” you replied enjoying the weird feeling in your stomach.
