Part 1 for those who didn’t get to read it. Let me know if you guys liked the ending.
Present Day:
The man came and sat across from you. You could feel his gaze upon you but you didn’t care enough to look up. There was only one thing on your mind –had the letter reached him? Luhan had promised to stay by your side than why was he so far away from you? Why hadn’t he shown up? As the clock ticked you began to get more and more nervous. Whenever anxiety took over you, you closed your eyes to think about something pleasant. That day you did the same. Resting your back against the wooden bench you closed your eyes and tried to picture his face for that was the only thing that brought you comfort.

It was your eighteenth birthday and just like all the other times your parents decided to have a grand party inviting everyone you didn’t knew. It was just another excuse for them to show off their wealth and find suitable suitors for you. You sat in a corner with your cheeks puffed up eyeing everyone. Your parents had been kind enough to let you invite some of your friends but even they were busy having fun. Nobody cared about the party girl.
“Why are you hiding in the corner? Come enjoy the party..” Youngshin said approaching you. You rolled your eyes at the sight of him. Out of all the guys, he was the least you wanted to talk to. He had tried asking you out several times but you always denied politely. Somehow he never gave up and kept hope alive. The reason you didn’t like him was because of his cockiness. He failed to acknowledged other people around him and that’s one thing you hated the most. Besides you were already half in love with another guy who had no idea how you felt.
“I’m fine here. You should go have fun,” you said.
“Oh here goes the music,” he said as soon as someone started playing slow music in the background. Many couples ran to the dance floor instantly. “Care to dance with me?” he asked. You shook your head without bothering to look at him.
“___________ please,” he said making a puppy dog face. You wanted to tell him that it only made him look more stupid but you knew he wouldn’t understand. To prevent any further persuasion and his cheesy statements, you took his hand and proceeded to the dance floor.
“Did I tell you that you look beautiful today?” he said trying to remove the strands of hair from your face. You shook your head in annoyance, pushing his hand away from you. The rest of the night dragged just like that. Your eyes were looking for one person and one person only but there was no way he could show up. He wasn’t allowed to according to your father’s orders.
.
You returned to your room after the party. It was almost midnight. Your special day was ending and you hadn’t smiled all day. Just then, you heard a light knock on the door. Your heart jumped and so did you, right out of the bed and towards the door.
“Luhan!” you cried as soon as you opened the door.
“Shhhhh!” he said putting his slender fingers on your lips. “Don’t be too loud. I don’t want to get caught.” You chuckled at his precautions and then dragged him to the bed with you.
“So did you get me something?” you asked.
“Of course,” he replied and then opened his fist to reveal a small box that had been very neatly wrapped. “Here, open it.”
You took it from him and carefully unwrapped and then opened the box. “Oh Lulu,” you gasped at the sight of a beautiful pendent. “It’s beautiful,” you said and pulled him into a hug.
“It’s nothing big. I didn’t have enough mone…”
“Shhhh,” you cut him. “Don’t say that.” You heard him chuckle which made you want to hug him tighter. And then there in that moment you let yourself loose. You didn’t want t let go off of him. You wanted him to understand your feelings for him without you having to utter a single word. Luhan began to pull away. You had no choice but to do the same. Your eyes met his, his soft breath touched your face sending tingles down your body. The brain and heart began to battle once again.
“Lu..” you began to say but the next moment you felt his lips pressed against yours. It took your brain a while to register what was happening and then your heart smiled back at you- teasing you in sort of a way that it had been right the whole time. Luhan did feel the same way about you after all and that is all what your heart had been telling you.
Then suddenly, before you could even savor the moment, he pulled away. He smacked his forehead as if cursing himself for doing something wrong. “I’m sorry,” he said, standing his back facing you.
“What do you mean you’re sorry?” you asked pulling him to turn around. He looked at you strangely. There wrinkles on both yours and his forehead. He cupped your face in his hands and ran his fingers on your forehead trying to calm you down.
“I feel the same way about you,” you whispered.
“It’s wrong,” he said. He turned around once again, shaking his head continuously. “I shouldn’t have done that. How could I be so stupid?”
For some reason instead his words began to hurt you. You had waited for that moment so long and when it finally happened he was regretting it. “Stop it Lulu,” you said in your crying voice. “Don’t do this to me.”
He turned around with a worried expression hearing your voice. He pulled you into a hug and slowly patted your back.
“Do you have any idea how long I have waited for this? And you go on saying its wrong? Do you not love me the same way I love you?” your voice muffled into his shirt.
“I do! I do,” he repeated, still patting your back.
“Please don’t go anywhere,” you said.
“I won’t! I won’t,” he replied kissing you on your temple.

The guy who sat opposite had fallen asleep. You lifted your hand to caress the cheek Youngshin had slapped you on a few days back. The bruise hurt but it was also a reminder of freedom you had received that day. You cared more about the latter. Your eyes fell on the clock. It was almost 2 o clock. The trains were going to start working at 5 o clock again. There wasn’t much time left. If he didn’t come that day, you were going to leave and never come back. You were going to start a new life, leaving everything behind just like Luhan had decided to do on the day of your wedding.

1 year ago (from present)
You sat facing the mirror, in your wedding dress looking blankly into space. Your life was soon going to be over. Your eyes had shed enough tears in the past few weeks that even they refused to form anymore. Every time your eyes met his, he returned your expressionless face with a smile. You knew he was putting up an act just so you wouldn’t think about him. You would forget about him and move on with your life. But how could you forget the three beautiful years you had spent with him. In fact how could you forget your entire childhood you had spent with him. Did the relationship you guys had meant nothing to him? The times he snuck into your room so the two of you could spend some time together. The time he first kissed you telling you he loved you and all the kisses after. The time you fell asleep in his lap and he didn’t dare move even if it meant risking himself getting caught the next morning. And out of all, the times you and him vowed to never leave each other. How did all of it just suddenly meant nothing to him? How could he act like that knowing it would hurt you so much.
The door clicked open and in came him except that this time he was here to notify to be ready. You were going to be called anytime.
“Luhan wait,” you called before he could close the door.
“I have a lot of other arrangements to look at,” he said hurriedly almost chocking on his words. You got up and began to walk towards him. “If everything doesn’t happen accordingly you know your father will be mad,” he said. You stopped very close to him and shut the door angrily. “_________, I really have to go,” he said shaking his head to avoid your eyes. He himself was teary eyed.
“Shhhhhhhh,” you murmured and lay your head on his chest. To your surprise, he embraced you.
“I’m sorry,” you heard him mumble and then after that both you and him began to cry. You cried for a long time tightly hugging each other.
He pulled away, wiped your tears and then before you could make any efforts to stop him, he left.
.
You felt nothing, heard nothing, spoke nothing after that day. Your pride had slapped you right in the face and so you entered Youngshin’s house as his bride. Life couldn’t have done you more injustice. You tried to convince yourself that it wouldn’t be as bad since he loved you. It doesn’t matter if you don’t love him but turned out that you were living in a delusion the whole time.
Youngshin was more cocky than you thought he was. He married you for the status and money. Just like you, his family had forced him into the marriage. Now both of you were stuck with each other except that he hated you a lot more than you hated him. “Do you really think I would treat you nicely after all you did to me? I stopped liking you after the first time you rejected me but my parents kept pushing me into it,” he said to you one night when you questioned him about his strange behavior.
“What do you mean?” you asked.
“I mean that I knew all about your little love story with that servant boy,” he scowled angrily.
“He’s not a servant,” you suddenly yelled back.
“How dare you?” he yelled back lunging towards you. “How dare you shout at me?” he said dragging you on the floor.
“Leave me,” you struggled which backfired because he shoved you on the floor.
“You can’t treat me like this. I am your wife,” you cried.
“You are worth nothing to me,” he said with a disgusted face. “And don’t you dare talk to me in that tone again.
.
After that night, things only got worse. The beatings became harsher and the words more cutting. He accused you of things you had never done before. You had tried to forget your past but he kept bringing it up and presenting it to you like an open tale. You had promised Luhan you would forget about him but as the days passed you thought more and more of him.
Then one day Youngshin crossed all limits and picked up a knife while he was half drunk. You screamed and yelled for helping but his grip was strong on you. Somehow you escaped and locked yourself in the room. After the night passed Youngshin had come back to his senses a little but he had made one decision for sure. He was going to set you free. He said it so bluntly that for a second you couldn’t believe it. You weren’t sure if you were more happy than sad. If he hadn’t let you go that day you would have run away anyways. The only problem was that you were on your own. No house, no clothes no food except for some cash in your pocket. The last thing you wanted was for your parents to find out and come to get you. You wrote a letter to Luhan telling him all that had happened. You knew he would come running after you but a little part of you doubted that. Luhan was very firm with the decisions he made. You knew he would make you go back and fix everything with your husband but if the selfish side of him won he wouldn’t do that to you. Everything was a mess.
*******************************************
Time had flown by. You breathed a heavy sigh and looked at the clock hesitantly. It was 4:15. You felt betrayed. You felt stupid. And yet the candle of hope was still lit brightly in your heart. Luhan would do anything but leave you waiting like this.
The clock kept ticking, making your heartbeat faster with every minute as it passed. You clenched your fist tightly and closed your eyes reminiscing your beautiful story with him from start to the finish. You playing in the snow with him. He stealing your ice cream all the time. You sneaking food for him. Him staying by your side whenever you were sick. You crying when he annoyed you and him apologizing sweetly. If he came that day, all of that would come back to you. Your unfinished story would be complete but… time was flying by and there was no sign of him.
People began rushing into the station. Many had even made queues for the arriving train. You didn’t move an inch. The clock ticked 5 and people began to huddle towards the entrance where the train would stop. With a heavy heart you walked towards the crowd. He wasn’t going to come after all….

Luhan lay in the middle of the street surrounded by a huge crowd. No one knew who hit him or where the car went. Some were shouting while others were calling an ambulance. He coughed out some blood which made the children scream. He shifted to his side, holding up the letter which was partially covered in blood. In that moment he made a promise to himself that if he lived that day, he was going to find you and free you from your pain…

My first ever planned two part scenario *wohooo* This is very different from my usual ones. The story switches from present to past but I tried my best to not make it confusing at all. If reading intense stuff is uncomfortable to you then I wouldn’t recommend it otherwise I can assure you it’s a good read. I wrote this over a period of two days. I hope you guys like it and anticipate the next part :)
Present Day:
The cold air brushed your feet sending shudders through your entire body. A tear fell from your eyes, slowly trickling down your already wet cheeks. You didn’t realize you had started crying again until you felt another tear drop on your hand. You raised your head just high enough to be able to see if someone was coming in through the double doors. No one was there. No one was ever going to come. It was too late. The ding of the big clock announced the arrival of the darkest hour of the night. You were all alone sitting at a train station waiting for him to come get you. Waiting for him to come take you away from all the misery.
***********************
14 Years ago:
The light gushes of your breath were causing the curtains in front of you to move. You knew Luhan was good with details. If he entered the room he would know you were hiding behind them. You very calmly took a deep breath and then held it in. You had vowed to yourself that you weren’t going to lose that day. If you did you would have to give him your ice cream from that day and you didn’t particularly like that.
The sound of soft footsteps touched your ears. Luhan was very light footed but somehow you could always tell when he was approaching you. The bond that the two of you had was beyond compare. You were inseparable.
“________ are you in here,” he called. “I know you’re in here. Give up already.” You shook your head as if he could see you but immediately realized how stupid you were. The curtain had obviously moved. Once again you’d given up your hiding space. Nevertheless you kept holding your breath and keeping hope alive. If fate was on your side, Luhan wouldn’t be able to find you that day. The footsteps drew nearer which only made you more nervous.
“_________,” he sang your name once again. You reacted by further pressing your body against the wall and closing your eyes. Luhan waved open the curtains and a gush of air hit you. You let out all the air you had held in and on to Luhan’s face making your cheeks look like a deflating balloon.
“Aish,” he scrunched up his nose. “What are you doing?”
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnn,” you cried and ran to another corner of the room. Curling up into a ball you began to cry. Once again you had lost and he was victorious.
********************
You lifted your hand to wipe your tears but just then a sound you had been longing to hear touched your ears. Then it changed. It weren’t the same footsteps. They were different. His were just different. None could be compared to them. You tilted your head to the side in disappointment. The double doors hissed open and in came a guy. It wasn’t him. You were right. It wasn’t him.
**********************
You glared at him hoping to burn holes into his body. He was licking your ice cream up and down and all the way around.
“I hate you,” you said and turned around crossing your arms. You looked adorable with your puffed up cheeks and pouty face. Luhan giggled continuing to lick the ice cream.
“Didn’t you hear? I hate you Lulu,” you said once again this time rubbing your eyes to wipe of the tears. You felt a hand on your shoulder. Luhan turned you around to face him. He wiped your tears shaking his head signaling you to stop crying. He looked adorable with his apologetic face.
“Don’t cry pabo!,” he played with your hair. “Here,” he said and offered you the ice cream. You shot back a cheesy smile and took a big bite of the creamy vanilla deliciousness.
“Gomawo,” you said to him still licking the ice cream. You weren’t planning on giving it back to him. He looked at you with loving eyes and then patted your head.
“Don’t ever cry like that,” he said and then half hugged you as the two of you walked back into the house.
.
Your mother shot you a look, showing her disapproval as always when you hung out with the son of the maid who worked for your family. You felt your hand slip out of Luhan’s as he walked away. He was very scared of your parents which you didn’t understand why. Then again, you were only 7 years old and he 9. How could your parents expect you to know so much at such a young age?
.
You never knew you could hate being rich so much. Everything had to be done according to the rules that had been set up by you don’t know which one of your great great great grandfathers. Last time you heard someone laugh with all their heart in your house was never. Every ding of the bell was like an announcement for a different activity. Just like always the bell rung and you rushed to the table for dinner. You didn’t even get enough time to wipe your face completely. There was traces of the vanilla ice cream visible on your face. Every member of the family sat down in the designated seats. You waited for your father to start so everybody else could begin too. He glared at your dirty face for a second and then shot a look at your mother. She quickly and rather roughly wiped your mouth shaking you a little. It was her way of giving you a warning to never do that again.
Dinner was served. Every one ate without saying a word. You kept your head bent the entire time to avoid any awkward eye contacts with any of your siblings. They all annoyed you by trying to make you laugh so you would get in trouble. When the dessert came your eyes immediately shot towards the kitchen. Just as expected Luhan was looking at you. His favorite dish was being served that day. He ran his tongue on his lips looking at the cheesy puff that you were holding in your hand. You loved it just as much as he did but it saddened you that he never got to eat it. His mother tugged on his shoulder and then pulled him inside.
You looked at the cheese puff and then back at the place he was standing in, a few minutes ago. Then making sure to escape everyone’s eyes you took a napkin and carefully wrapped the puff in it. As soon as your father announced dismissal you ran in to your room and waited for Luhan. You knew he would appear soon.
Only thirty minutes passed and Luhan sneaked into your bedroom closing the door behind him. “Want to do something fun?” he asked.
“Ye,” you nodded your head. “But first I have something for you,” you said.
“What?” he asked jumping on the bed besides you. You revealed a fairly medium sized object wrapped in a napkin.
“What it is?” he asked.
“Open it,” you replied.
You thought he would hug and mess with your hair as soon as he saw the puff but instead he just stared at it.
“I thought you loved it,” you said.
“I do,” he mumbled. “But please don’t go through all this trouble for me. … What if they catch you next time? I don’t want them to punish you.”
“Since when did you start worrying about me,” you nudged him. You smiled to make him smile and smile he did. Luhan took a bite of the puff and then offered it to you. You shook your head and let him eat. It made you happy when he was happy and if cheesy puffs made him happy then you were willing to steal them every day, just for him.
*************************************
Seven Years later
“__________, __________, ____________!,” Luhan whispered your name entering your room.
“What?” you said poking your head from under the sheets.
“Why are you sleeping at 3 in the afternoon?” he asked.
“Because I am tired,” you replied.
“Okay then come on and get up. I have this really cool place to show you,” he said pulling the covers from on top of you.
“Did you not hear what I just said?” you asked him.
“Trust me you won’t regret it,” he replied.
“Luhan we are not kids anymore,” you tried to shrug your hands out of his but he held them tightly. He pulled you out of bed and dragged you into the bathroom.
After that the two of you sneaked out of the house, which was fairly easy since it was afternoon time. Luhan dragged you through the backyard and into the trees behind your house. Your mother had always warned you about them while growing up. You hesitated a bit but Luhan insisted. You trusted him a lot too so you let yourself be dragged. Reaching a clearing, he stopped and went behind you. He then covered your eyes and then began to walk again.
“Luhan what is this?” you asked.
“Shhhhh Just keep walking,” he whispered into your ear.
After a while he stopped and then slowly slipped his hands from your eyes. You pressed your eye lids tightly before opening them. In front of you was a beautiful pond with birds chirping around it.
“Are there fish in..”
“Ye,” he nodded before you could even finish. He knew how much you loved fishes.
“Oh Lulu I can’t believe you found this. This is so beautiful.” You cried hugging him. Luhan chuckled but hugged you back tightly.
“I found this accidently while wandering around back here,” he replied. “The woods are not scary after all.”
You pulled away and looked straight into his eyes. You wanted to kiss him but you knew that would be inappropriate. Both of you loved each other a lot but only as friends and nothing more. Luhan took your hand and the two of you walked closer to the pond.
After watching the fish for a good amount of time you and him lay on the ground heads close to each other. The sky looked beautiful that day for some reason. Was it because he was by your side – your heart asked you. No- you whispered back to it but your heart knew well. You couldn’t lie to it.
The two of you watched the daylight fade. The sky was getting darker by the minute but some force in the nature was pulling you two towards it. Neither of you moved because everything was so calm and serene. You could only wish for time to stand still and the moment to become eternal in itself.
Luhan blinked and then it suddenly hit him. The sky was almost dark. Your parents must be worried sick about you. “_______,” he almost cried. “We were supposed to be back home a long time ago.”
“Oh my goodness,” you blubbered as well squeezing his hand. “Lulu I am so scared. They will kill me now.”
“Don’t worry okay. Hopefully they didn’t notice that you were missing,” he tried to calm you.
Both of you slowly and hesitantly walked back towards your house. The guard looked at Luhan and then and at you and shook his head. This meant that something horribly wrong was about to happen.
“See I told you she would be with him,” your mother said to your father upon seeing the two of you. She was crying while your father stood in grave silence giving deathly stares to Luhan. “Why don’t you say something?” she shook him.
“Kang Heo riiiiiiiiiiii,” he suddenly yelled Luhan’s mother’s name. She came running into the room from the kitchen. “Look at what your son did again. How dare he? How dare he take my daughter out of the house like this? Did you not teach him anything? How insolent could he be? It’s all your fault for not teaching him anything. His wits..HIS WITS ARE OUT OF CONTROL! ”
The entire house was echoing with his voice. You had never seen him this furious. Your body was shaking with fear but Luhan stood firm. His mother walked up to Luhan with tears in her eyes. You didn’t know what was yet to come. Without giving the slightest hint she slapped him across the face.
“I keep telling you to not do stuff like this,” she said grinding her teeth. She was hurt because he was the cause of her insult. “Come here,” she said and pulled him by the ear. You heard the kitchen door shut tightly but your body remained still. And then something very horrible touched your ears. He was being beaten with a stick. The same old worn out stick that was often kept in the corner of the kitchen. Luhan shrieked in pain but the beating didn’t stop. The dense sound of the stick hitting his bare flesh shot pain through your heart. Tears began falling out of your eyes. You raised your head to look at your father. He stood in silence with a faint smile on his lips. How could he? How could he enjoy this? How could he be so inhumane? You took a little step but he shook his head ordering you to not move. You had never felt more helpless. You couldn’t save him or go back to your room. Your punishment was to stand there and listen to his suffering. The cries got louder with every minute. You felt your heart getting numb.
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!,” he cried.
“Abuji pleaseee,” you finally blurted out. Your father’s eyes opened up wide in surprise. For the first time in your life you had ever spoken out like this. He thought it to be an insult since you were doing it all for him- all for a servant. He looked at your mother who on getting the signal grabbed you by the arm and dragged you into your room.
“Next time you think about leaving the house without telling anyone and see what happens,” she said angrily. She slammed the door behind her as if transmitting all her anger into it. You buried your face in your pillow to block out all the sounds and hoped to fall asleep.
.
When you woke up it was way past midnight. You had fallen asleep crying. The first thought that crossed your mind was that of Luhan. He must still be in the kitchen. You ran to your bathroom, grabbed the first aid kit and very quietly tip toed to the kitchen.
Sure enough he sat in a dark corner curled up, his head buried in his lap.
“Luhan,” you whispered. He didn’t look up. You were sure he had heard you. You sat beside him and raised your hand hesitantly to rub is back.
“Aaa,” he let out a quite cry.
“Let me put something on it,” you whispered. He shrugged your hand off of his back. “Please let me,” you said and began to cry. You couldn’t have felt guiltier at the moment. Your heart hurt seeing him in such pain. “I am so sorry,” you said in a muffled voice.
You felt his arms around you. They were shaking and you knew it was because his entire body hurt but still he was trying to console you. “Shhh..shhh,” he said and then pressed your body against his.
You pulled away to look at his face. His eyes were red and puffy from crying. You shook your head apologetically wiping his new forming tears. Words weren’t needed anymore. He understood you without you having to say anything. Luhan turned his back to you and pulled his shirt to reveal the red marks. You lifted your shaking hands and started applying the ointment. His silent weeping filled the air and that night for the first time ever you realized that what you felt for him was love. At that point you realized that his pain was your pain. His suffering was your suffering. At that moment you also realized that you couldn’t live a minute without him.
The two of you sat in the silence of the night, your head in his lap as he caressed your cheek. Your eyes spoke to him. They told him that you never wanted him to leave. They told him that you loved him and they told him that you vowed to remain by his side forever. He smiled at you reassuringly as if he had understood everything but he never returned the vows. Did he love you back?- you asked yourself…
