***Since I had four requested KEY [Shinee] scenarios I decided to FINALLY write my Kyuhyun scenario [which has been on my list for 2 months] to give a break to key scenarios for a while. I hope you guys like it :) ****
‘You followed me annoyingly, and took a deep breath
Trying to catch me, who’s leaving you alone
I grabbed your shoulders tightly and loudly said “We’re through”
That the farewell poison has already, without you knowing, spread in my heart’
“Why are you playing this song?” you threw a cushion at your friend.
“It’s your boy friend’s song. I thought you’d like it?” she frowned.
“Yeah, but one of his happy songs. You know how much I hate listening to sad songs.” You pouted.
“But at least listen to it. It’s really beautiful.”
‘ The disease where my love is slowly dying
It hurts a little, but I don’t want to get better
Every single memory is erasing
Going back to the times when we were strangers,
I want to rest now
Like having played with fire for a long time
Everything has burned, and only ashes remain (Only ashes remain)
Like how even the first feelings have become faint
Everything has become useless (useless)
Facing you and taking your hands, with a bitter smile, I said “Please, be happy”
To find a person who will soothe and embrace the scars that I’ve left you.’
“Aish I don’t like it. It’s such a sad song,” you said wiping the tears that were forming in your eyes.”
“You get emotional so easily.” She remarked.
“It’s not that,” you played with your fingers.
“Then what is it?” she asked.
“It’s been nearly two years and in this time, he’s only called me once or twice. Does Ryeowook Oppa call you every day?” you asked.
“Not every day, but he tries to call me at least twice a week,” she replied.
You sighed and folded your arms.
“He’s coming back from the army next month. I am really happy but I’m scared at the same time.” You said with a meek voice.
“Scared? Of what?” she asked.
“We haven’t talked in almost two years and in this time I have waited every second for him.”
“So?”
“So, what if he doesn’t love me anymore?”
“________, do you love him?”
“More than my life.”
A smile spread on your friend’s face. “Well than he loves you a lot too. You know how Kyuhyun oppa has always been the ‘not sharing his feelings’ kind of person and yet you still loved him so why doubt it now?”
You felt your body getting numb and your arms getting cold.
“I just hope you’re right..” you mumbled.
She hugged you in a tight embrace. “All this wait won’t go to a waste. I promise.”
“Gomawo,” you whispered to her. She patted your back to comfort you.
“Do you want to call him?” she asked.
“Right now?” you asked surprisingly.
“Ye, here dial his number.” She handed you the phone.
Your hands were shaking while you dialed the number. You could hear the tone, once, twice, thrice…
“Aneyong,” Kyuhyun said from the other side.
“Oppa..” you whispered.
“________, how are you?” he asked. You almost didn’t recognize his voice.
“I’m fine. How are you?”
“I’m fine too.”
Both of you fell into an awkward silence. You felt like you were disturbing him.
“Oppa, when are you coming back?” you asked hesitantly.
“In a few days,” he replied after a short pause.
“I’ll be waiting for you,” you said as you heart raced.
“Hey listen, they’re calling me so I have to go. I’ll talk to you later okay?” he said and hung up without waiting for you to respond.
You looked at your friend. She had a bright smile on her face.
“So how did it go?” she asked.
You nodded your head and laid down on the couch. You had mixed feelings about the short conversation that you’d had with Kyuhyun. You were happy that you heard his voice but you could still feel this empty feeling inside of you. You just wished it’d go away.

Today was the day Kyuhyun was going to be released from the army. You were happy. All the nervousness had vanished. Now all you had to do was wait a few more days before he came to meet you. He had to go meet his parents first and you respected that.
You waited till midnight for but he never called. You felt a twinge in your heart but you suppressed it.
***Ring Ring*** - you lunged towards your phone.
“Hello!” you said, catching your breath.
“Hey,” he replied.
“How did they react?” you asked.
“Umma started crying. Appa hugged me. He was very emotional too.”
“Awwww, I wish I was there to see that,” you murmured, trying to hint that it was about time he introduced you to his parents.
“I’ll come see you soon.”
“I’ll be waiting..” you trailed off. “Saranghae oppa.”
“Saranghae,” he replied after a brief pause.

You hated carrying groceries up the stairs. You carefully paced them on the floor as you reached the top and opened the door. The lights in the living room were on. You were sure, you’d turned them off that morning obviously because you couldn’t afford paying the bills. Leaving the groceries in the corner, you tip toed to the living room. Your heart skipped a beat watching Kyuhyun sitting on the couch reading a magazine.
“You still put your keys under the mat don’t you?” he said without looking up.
A smile broke on your face as your heart raced. Your ears were getting hot.
“Oppa,” you cried with excitement and ran towards him. He got up and hugged you.
“You haven’t changed a bit,” he whispered. You liked it when he said that. You pulled away and looked at him. His face was as fresh and young as when he left. He hadn’t changed a bit, either. You ran your fingers on his face while he looked at you intently. Tears of joy filled your eyes.
“You don’t know how much I waited for this moment,” you said embracing him again.
“Me too,” he said but loosened his grip on you.
The two of you sat down but neither of you had anything to talk about. You were happy. Really happy that he had returned but he felt distant. It seemed like he’d forced himself to come meet you. You shrugged the feeling out of your heart and rested your head on his chest, just like old times. He placed one of his arms around you and closed his eyes.
****************************************************
You hoped things would change over the next few weeks but they didn’t. Kyuhyun visited you regularly but as usual, the two of you only exchanged a few words. You tried to tell yourself that maybe you were dwelling in the past too much. It was time for you to start living in the present.
You guys had plans to go out, but it started raining. There was nothing you could do but stay in. Kyuhyun decided to watch a movie instead. The two of you lay in bed, your bodies pressed against each other. You gently placed your arm on his chest and your head on his shoulder. You weren’t disappointed that you couldn’t go out tonight. Cuddling with oppa was much better than having dinner in a formal setting. The movie was boring as always but Kyuhyun’s warmth was all you needed at the point.
“_________, Kyuhyun whispered your name.”
“Hmmm.”
“I want to say something,” he said getting up, forcing you off of him.
“Ye,” you replied.
He sat across from you and held your hands. He looked away so as to form the words that he was about to utter. You could feel his hands shaking. A shudder ran through you. What was he going to say? You wanted to pull away your hand but a little part of you wanted to hear what he had to say.
“_________, I.. don’t think we should be together anymore,” he said looking straight into your eyes.
“What?” you said with an inaudible voice.
“I’m sorry,” he said, looking away.
“What do you mean?” you asked.
“Ever since I came back from the army, I’ve realized that I have so much to do in life and this..”
“You feel like I’m holding you back?” you finished for him.
“No, no that’s not it,” he said looking at you now.
“Then what is it?” you asked.
“I don’t know how to explain it!” he shook his head.
“Don’t you think I deserve an explanation after waiting for you for so long?” you asked.
He didn’t say anything. He looked away, not being able to face your questioning eyes. He knew he’d hurt you a lot but he didn’t want to be in a relationship where he had to pretend that he loved you. He didn’t know when his feelings changed for you. He hoped they’d go away once he saw you again but they didn’t.
“I’m sorry ________,” he said once again, standing up and walking towards the window.
You didn’t know what to say. You were mad and upset and you felt like somebody had just ripped your heart out. You didn’t know why he was doing this. You were pretty sure you still loved him just like you loved him three years ago. If your feelings hadn’t change then how could his?
“Oppa, please don’t do this!” you begged not caring about yourself respect. You wanted to do everything possible to stop him from leaving. If he left then the two years you spent convincing yourself that he was going to come back and nothing will change, wouldn’t mean anything. All of it would be a lie that you were telling yourself.
“Do you not have a heart?” you asked. “I waited two years for you and you know how much I love you,” you said. The tears that you’d been holding back were finally coming out now. Your vision blurred and you felt dizzy. You buried your head in your lap and sobbed.
Kyuhyun came and sat beside you once again. “Please don’t cry. It hurts me to see you cry.”
“Please don’t lie. If it hurt you to see me cry you wouldn’t do this to me,” you said meekly.
“I want to save you the tears in the future.” He said placing his hands on your shoulder. You shrugged them off. Kyuhyun sat there for a while but he knew it was time to leave. There was no turning back or fixing what he had done, from here on. He felt his energy drain as he got up. He turned around and looked at you once again.
You wished he’d say all of this was a lie and come back and hug you. But then your heart asked you if you’d really take him back? And you knew you wouldn’t. There was no fixing to this broken heart now.
You jumped out of bed and ran towards the door. Kyuhyun was still standing there. He turned around and looked at you. You looked at him too. Neither of you moved. He opened the door and finally left, leaving you alone. You wished he’d broken up with you earlier to save you the pain. How could he be so cruel? You couldn’t force him into this relationship but what about your heart that still loved him. You knew you couldn’t love anyone else more than you loved him. The song that your friend played earlier started playing in your head again. You had no idea that this song was one day going to define the story of your life.

7 years later…
“Ummmmaaaa,” your three year old son cried running towards you.
You picked him up. “What’s wrong?” you asked kissing him on the cheek.
“I want ice cream,” he demanded.
“Ice cream? In this cold weather?” you asked.
He nodded his head.
“Well young man, you won’t be getting any ice cream right now,” you tickled him. He giggled. His laugh meant the world to you. You laughed with him then suddenly your body froze as your eyes fell on a figure you were familiar with. He was looking right back at you with a faint smile on his face. A girl came up beside him and put her hand on his shoulder offering him coffee. He held her hand and pulled her towards him. She gave him a peck on the cheek. You felt a twinge in your heart. Seeing him again, like this only brought back the memories of that horrible day when he left you.
“What’s wrong honey?” your husband came up besides you and asked.
“Nothing! You shook your head. He wrapped his arms around you giving you a comforting smile. The pain that you felt a few seconds ago vanished. You loved your husband. No one could have healed the wounds Kyuhyun had left you like he did. You slid your arm around his waist holding your son in the other.
“Let’s go home,” you said placing your head on his shoulder.
Kyuhyun turned around and looked at you. A smile appeared on his face. Indeed, someone had healed the wounds he’d left you. He could finally forgive himself now, for hurting you.
